	🎸 ♥ 9:11pm Austin Rich: I was one of those students, Krys O. All the teachers falling over each other to tell me that I would make something of myself. I did! I DJ, in a string of unsuccessful bands. But certainly working part time in a record store is the cornerstone to my success.

	🎸 ♥ 9:17pm Austin Rich: For me, I started collecting zippers I found find on old clothes, and handed them out to my friends. We started wearing them in various capacities, and mentioned that was the symbol for our "secret" club. (There was no club, we were just being dumb.) But the zippers started taking off, for sure.
	🎸 ♥ 9:18pm Austin Rich: This X album is so weird, and also, amazing? But it doesn't really read like a regular rock and roll album.

	🎸 ♥ 9:19pm Austin Rich: Those first four X albums are all solid gold, but they get better and better as the albums progress.
	🎸 ♥ 9:19pm Krys O.: I saw videos and photos of classmates who went to the 40th high school reunion last year. We were so glad we did not attend. There was a sing along to We Are the Champions at the end. Blergh. Our group did not go to the prom either.

	🎸 ♥ 9:20pm Austin Rich: I sort of rebelled against fashion, because I hated the rat race of staying current. (Late 80's / early '90's high school era.) So I would get the most ridiculous thrift store clothes, occasionally cheap skirts, just to avoid paying a lot for "fashion."
	🎸 ♥ 9:20pm Krys O.: I have a recording of one of the radio shows that we did in high school at the local AM station. 15 minutes every other week on WGCH Greenwich, CT.
	🎸 ♥ 9:21pm Austin Rich: I had a hat a cut off of a life-sized Raggedy Andy doll, that I wore all through High School.

	🎸 ♥ 9:22pm Austin Rich: This was the Nick Cave album that made me FALL IN LOVE with Nick Cave, and then I went back and caught up. I'm one of THOSE guys, who liked Grinderman a lot, and wondered about this Nick Cave guy.

	9:24pm Mr Fab: Redd Kross were (and probably still are) really big in LA, but that's sad to hear Austin. I was under the impression that they kinda broke out into more mainstream-y waters.

There was a young substitute teacher we all loved, too. He was a DJ on WAYO for a while but we never ran into each other. Alas?
	🎸 ♥ 10:48pm Austin Rich: While they were a very messy and uneven band in this era, there are some gems to be found if you start sifting around the early years of The Flaming Lips. Occasionally they are just a rock / punk band, and it's sort of charming.

Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

We started wearing them in various capacities, and mentioned that was the symbol for our "secret" club. (There was no club, we were just being dumb.) But the zippers started taking off, for sure.
	🎸 ♥ 9:18pm Austin Rich: This X album is so weird, and also, amazing? But it doesn't really read like a regular rock and roll album.

	🎸 ♥ 9:19pm Austin Rich: Those first four X albums are all solid gold, but they get better and better as the albums progress.
	🎸 ♥ 9:19pm Krys O.: I saw videos and photos of classmates who went to the 40th high school reunion last year. We were so glad we did not attend. There was a sing along to We Are the Champions at the end. Blergh. Our group did not go to the prom either.

	🎸 ♥ 9:20pm Austin Rich: I sort of rebelled against fashion, because I hated the rat race of staying current. (Late 80's / early '90's high school era.) So I would get the most ridiculous thrift store clothes, occasionally cheap skirts, just to avoid paying a lot for "fashion."
	🎸 ♥ 9:20pm Krys O.: I have a recording of one of the radio shows that we did in high school at the local AM station. 15 minutes every other week on WGCH Greenwich, CT.
