Avatar 6:47am Really Lisa:

Hi all. Hope everyone is well as can be.
I won vinyl for pledging in the last marathon. Click on avatar to see image. Thing is I was pitching in to get to this show’s goal. Not realizing it was a $ amt for this prize. I don’t have a turntable. And don’t know anyone non-fmu/local (NJ or thereabouts) with a turntable.
I’ll pay to ship. Do the ‘contact’ clicky box if interested.
Take care, ☮️

Hi butterman
  8:12am dday:

@Really Lisa: shipping costs being what they are ($$$) you might be wiser to buy a decent portable turntable. Some as cheap as $50.00 free shipping in some cases: https://www.gearhungry.com/portable-turntables/

YB, yes, our last full day up in the country today. I took the canoe off the car and took the lines off it, thinking it was going to rain all day, but it seems the outlook has changed! Back to town tomorrow and then the American Road on Tue.

Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:26am YETI BOB:

I like the way Really Lisa tried to give away an LP and now we're all telling her to buy a turntable.
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:26am David (in London):

We were at the beach, everyone had matching towlels.
Always a favourite lyric of mine.
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:26am YETI BOB:

Anyhow, I wouldn't let my collection get near some of those toy turntables. Whatever you do, don't buy the Crosley, unless you really hate your records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Handy Haversack:

When we gave up on fixing our old turntable, we got a used one -- from Fabio!

Aye, David.
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:27am john_zilla:

Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:28am YETI BOB:

I mean, for people who are not on a first-name basis with Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am Handy Haversack:

I think he would recognize Bagpipe before me.

"Oh, sure, I'm also Handy Haversack on the boards."

"I see. And who's *this*?!"
Avatar 8:31am HyperDose:

That's my suggestion too, YB. Well, since they fixed that manufacturing defect on the previous model. Might pick up one for myself.

Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:32am YETI BOB:

Anyhow, ReallyLisa, good luck finding a donee. I'd give it a home but my record shelves are overflowing and it's not really my cup of mead.
Avatar 8:32am HyperDose:

The bluetooth model is a great deal for $220
  8:32am dday:

@Yeti: I was referring to shipping an actual turntable, not an LP :)
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:33am YETI BOB:

particle kid is willie nelson's kid, if you don't know
  8:33am berkshires matty:

just read 'fruggin' is actually a portmanteau of front-hugging(?!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am ClayBeFree:

Holy Cats, Carol, you're absolutely killing it this morning. 🖤
  8:34am dday:

@Yetti: I thought her comment was that she was looking for someone to ship her a turntable that maybe they weren't using. If I had one I'd consider it :)
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:35am YETI BOB:

The story is Willie tried to call him the "prodigal son" but he was too high and it came out "particle kid"
  8:36am berkshires matty:

I need to see Willie one last time
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:36am YETI BOB:

And this is pretty cool. I wonder if Willie digs it.
  8:37am dday:

@Yetti: That's a great entry level table. I also suggested a portable as I don't know if Really Lisa has the support gear needed to plug a standard table into (Amp, speakers etc.). Oldsters like me are still playing through systems we bought many moons ago (Carver, Dual, Avid for me 2 of 3 purchased in 98 Avids 1977) that are still going strong
Avatar 8:37am WinksFMU:

Yeah, Willie's kid has an interesting track there
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:38am YETI BOB:

dday - aha, now it all makes sense.
Avatar 8:38am WinksFMU:

@Yeti Good one! lol
  8:38am berkshires matty:

sad to see the demise of Willie's Family Band
  8:39am dday:

@johnzilla: all true (lack of bass, heavyish tone arms etc.) But it all depends on your "usage" Audiophile...absolutely not. Casual listener ..sure.
  8:40am berkshires matty:

this is my sister Bobbi on piano, say hi, Bobbi (Bobbi says hi)
Avatar 🌜 8:40am Heidee:

Hi Bobbi!
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:41am YETI BOB:

dday: I'm an old-timer too. I wish I had kept my old Technics turntables. Now I've got a Music Hall MMH1.5 for the main rig, and a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon in my office. Pretty happy with both of those.
Avatar 8:42am HyperDose:

I just want a fancy lookin tube amp like the cool kids
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:42am YETI BOB:

Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:43am YETI BOB:

  8:46am dday:

@Yetti: I sold my vinyl to Spike Priggen a few years back. Spike's Record Rack Catskill, NY. My LP's were not "collector" quality as I played them a lot from the 70's through the 80's. Once I had my heart attack I started taking stock in the idea of "why do I have & who is going to be tasked with moving all this heavy crap if I were to expire." So, they were sold.

I'm actually trying to sell the Avid 103 loudspeakers I have. At 43 lbs. apiece, they are like furniture. I think my couch weighs less than even one of them :)

My love still has about 1000 LP's here. She hasn't played one since maybe 2012, but hangs on for sentimental reasons I'm sure.
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:47am YETI BOB:

Too busy talkin' turntables to say Hi to Heidee and D(iL)! Hi friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am CarolCrow:

Hello Butterman, dday, Handy, Winks, Clay and everyone! Thank you for listening!
Avatar 🌜 Swag For Life Member 8:49am YETI BOB:

dday: If I were closer I'd take those Avids off your hands. I hear you about reducing posessions, I've been selling things off too, but not quite ready to let the whole record collection go. I still play LPs every day.
Avatar 8:49am HyperDose:

via AudioKarma forum: "They are very decent examples of the 1970s "New England Sound" / "That CTS midrange in the 103 was a good sounding driver used in lots of speakers; it's a nice driver, as is the polycarbonate dome Philips tweeter."
Avatar 8:49am WinksFMU:

I have an old-school AT SL-1200 languishing in the back of a closet. Just needs a new belt (guessing) and a cartridge. But don't have the space to lay out a turntable (stupid world problems)
Avatar 8:50am WinksFMU:

Thanks Carol. And thanks for introducing me to the Slow Show (a few weeks back). Have become a fan boi!
  8:51am dday:

audio gear & guitars are very subjective subjects to those who love them :) Sold off my guitars as well. Back issues meant I rarely strapped one on so why no sell, make a few bucks & let someone else enjoy them , rather than have them, sitting in theirdust collecting cases
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am Handy Haversack:

Glad to catch this last hour. Many thanks, Carol!

  8:57am wearpants:

Wow I haven't heard this backing track in forever, what is this?
  8:57am dday:

@Hyper Dose: having been exposed to & worked in a few professional recording studios between 1979 & 2000, I've seen & heard some of the best gear available at their times. Crown & McIntosh tube amps, all kinds of outboard gear, custom built speakers, amazing recording consoles, Studer 24 track recorders etc. Those Avid 103's ..I love'em. They have an adjustable crossover with a 5 position switch that allows you to tailor the mid range & High drivers (if you like) from flat to plus or minus more bass or more high end. Very useful. I usually left them flat to get the truest sound, post the amp outputs

@YettI: I gave away a Guild Classical Nylon 6 string to a contractor friend of mine recently for the spectacular job he did building me a new block retaining wall, as a tip.
He called to tell me he loves it...when he can get it out of his wife's hands. He has two young daughters who now play as well. That made me very, very happy!
