@Dale what station are you receiving? I get WMNR from Connecticut on 90.1...
WMFU some of the time.

Purchased the Excello 7" Slim Harpo track after hearing it on Ron Lundy's WABC NYC broadcast. At age 14 this did not appear significant musically.
At this moment in time, 2022, BABY SCRATCH MY BACK purchase was likely unusual for an Italo-Amerian adolescent.

"Down to the crossroads" is almost as common a blues lyric element as "woke up this morning," or "down in New Orleans."

I put a small 200 ca-ching in the donation pot...

I don't know if this is sanctioned, but...

We need a transmitterthon!

The station needs 10k to bring Mt Hope 90.1 and Rockland County 91.9 back up and operating at 100%

I guess one needs a tube for the transmitter, the other one is almost totally fried and needs to be replaced

@ will the sound guy I’m scared they’re phasing out the radio! Will WFMU be a streaming only service? Time will only tell - hang in on the FM static fumes

I believe a strong lighting blast may have gotten the Transmitter... I don't know for sure, but there was a nasty strong storm.. then sunday morning I couldn't hear Carol or Jeff Sarge...

@Will & dale: I don't know how much either of you know about how radio waves travel, but simplified, AM signals follow the contours of the earth & as such can travel long distances pretty easily. As a kid in Bergen Co., NJ, I had this little record player with an AM radio & used to listen to hockey & basketball games from as far away as Chicago easily. FM on the other hand travels by "line of sight" transmission so if you are say up on mountain & in a relatively unobstructed line of sight to the transmitter you get good signal, if not then you don't.

Ken said today the parts needed to repair the transmitter came in today & the transmitter hopefully will be up by the end of the week. A storm took out the final stage card(s).

Most new transmitters are digital & cards are usually hot swapable, meaning the transmitter doesn't need to be shut down to remove or install cards.

Several other stations in the area had damage to either transmitters or their associated internet input feeds (Spectrum was one of them).

Cross your fingers :)

My pleasure Will. I never know what people may or may not know but my training was in electronics repair back in 79/80 so we were actually the last DeVry Tech NJ class to study vacuum tube theory, along with TV , Radio & Microwave transmission.
  8:12pm
dday:

@Hudson Valley: Not sure on this but I don't think the station can go all streaming & keep their non profit non-commercial educational status. FCC requires even commercial antenna TV signals to still be broadcast over the air as many areas in the US still don't have internet service (unbelievable but true). Equal Access laws apply
  8:24pm
dday:

I should say "may apply" as I'm not sure if FM signals are covered under the law
