Scott, when I was in my twenties and a rabid record hunter I valued the "uninformed customer base" for thrift stores. Like a small poorly lit church thrift store only open on thursdays. Found me a really great Neil Young bootleg among other records there. THAT kind of store is worth its weight in gold. Or a thrift store with no college student for hundreds of miles around.

Honestly, I was never a huge fan of concerts anyway, expectations are usually way too high for reality. I much prefer putting on a CD in my wifes car (my CD player broke) or maybe just tuning in here to get surprised by something amazing.

@Wild Neil - Dig around at what UNM has to offer during the school year. When I lived in the same town as U of Illinois I saw lots of great xperimental jazz, modern composition and world music for low to no cost.
