Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am Handy Haversack:

Sweat was broken beyond repair while cleaning up the bottle of apple cider vinegar that Goblin managed to smash in the kitchen, Doug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Doug in MP:

Hey, at least that part of the kitchen is super clean now. Shayna did some gardening this morning but I'm being a coward in my work bunker. Hoodie weather down here

(The following was an old cartoon. Nancy & Sluggo, posssibly.)
Dad: "Have you seen my nine iron golf club?"
Kid: "I sawed it in the garage."
Dad: "No, dear. 'I saw it in the garage.'"
Kid: "OK, then. Have it your way."
Last panel shows the club in a vice, in two pieces.
Good morning, Lil Stranger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Especially liked the José Manuel too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am DjLorraine:

That Flamin' Groovies lead part made me think of that Beat My Guest riff

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Passaic River Blues:

Played "Strictly 4 My Nz" endlessly in 7th grade, wore out the tape in my yellow walkman. Haven't revisited in a minute, so thanks for this.
  9:22am chresti - in SF:

Hi Lil Stranger and buzzards!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am YETI BOB:

Hiphop is WFMU's blind spot IMO so happy to hear some 2Pac.
  9:23am prudy:

great to hear you again Lil Stranger...enjoying the show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am YETI BOB:

Jack Bruce (Cream) on bass in this version of the Tony Williams band
Avatar 9:24am Listener Jonny in South Central... (Ohio):

Ahoy Lil Stranger! Thanks for the soundtrack!
Avatar 9:24am HyperDose:

@Yeti We have Billy Jam. I'd say modern metal is the biggest blind spot. Not enough metal on FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am Handy Haversack:

Rev Rab, see latest pic of kittens and K8 in my profile and wonder: but where would they guide!

HyperDose: we miss Keilidh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am YETI BOB:

Oops, not Jack Bruce. There were a lot of lineup changes
  9:26am chresti - in SF:

The other hip hop oasis would be Billy Jam’s show on Fridays
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am YETI BOB:

HH: What happened to those tiny little kittens?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am Passaic River Blues:

@YT: I just love the TWL in all its iterations. On organ alone, you had Larry Young, Webster Lewis, and Alan Pasqua.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am YETI BOB:

PRB: It's hard to imagine, he was playing with Miles Davis at 17. Tony Williams is on a lot of really good LPs
Avatar 9:31am PuraVida:

"Pledging My Time" was the B-side of the single "Rainy Day Women#12 & 35"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Handy Haversack:

YB, they are growing nicely into their demonic heritage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am YETI BOB:

PRB: On bass, Tony had Jack Bruce, Ron Carter, and Jaco, which is pretty incredible too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am YETI BOB:

HH: They got so big so fast!
Avatar 9:33am Stillwell Coney Islander:

Mornin' Lil Stranger !

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am YETI BOB:

PR1920: Sorry I've been a little slow to reply. I was away from my computer most of the weekend. I always answer email eventually but sometimes I'm slow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am PaulRobeson1922:

@YETI BOB: no worries. The anticipation is arguably the best part
Avatar 9:40am TDK60:

Great electric Bob tune there, "Pledging." Sounds like he put the harmonica thru a tremolo effect there at the end. ("Blonde" was '66 by the way, not '68. Important in that era when months saw changes like years.)
  9:44am gauche knee:

Hey stranger, Lovin the jams!
2pac, Horace Fam & this Doug Hream Blunt
hitting the spot 4 me!
  9:44am P-90:

@TDK60: yes! SO important to understand how quickly pop music was changing in that era
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...1968 is when it came out on CD...
Digging the soulful range this A.M. ...
Avatar 9:46am PuraVida:

John Lee Hooker Run On came out in 1960 on the Vee Jay label btw
Avatar 9:46am Nodong Il:

This might be my first time catching this show--- good show, particularly liked crybubble-- but it took me a moment to register the little stranger reference. I'll tell you, when the time comes for Walker to tell everyone that i have AIDS, at least i hope keyboard cat will be there to play me off.

I mean, she's dead already, right, so when the nukes come, in a sense she'll be there to play us all off, right? Right?
  9:46am wenzo toad (it/it’s):

Ello stranger… I did not crash my bike while listening to the music you selected… You RAWK!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Phillippe:

That Doug Hream Blunt sounded great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am PaulRobeson1922:

@TDK60 ya. Very true. In 66’ the war was ending and in 68’ the war was ramping up… but as you know, the war was symbolically finished in June of 63’ when Kennedy saw the Photographs of Bồ Tát Thích Quảng Đức
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  9:49am P-90:

@Rev: we’ve had this conversation before, about (for example) 1966 and and 1968 being two different universes in pop culture, especially in music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am steveo:

good morning; glad to hear your show on my radio
  9:49am Gerry from Miami:

@TDK60. I am sure you have the Dylan Bootleg Series box documenting thar "Blonde on Blonde" period with outtakes and assorted miscellanea.. It's all a Dylanophile needs to fill in the blanks about what went on during those epic sessions in Tennessee back in '67. Fascinating, head-shaking amazing stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh every year in the 1960s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am DjLorraine:

Handy i misread it as domestic heritage haha
Avatar 9:52am TDK60:

Gerry, I don't, should get it. (Or, could I make some cassettes from your copy?)
  9:53am P-90:

There are records from a year like 1968 that just SOUND like 1968, you can “hear” that they wouldn’t have been likely in 1967, but 1969 would be too late
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Zipperhead7:

Last night I dreamed that Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock were playing at a local dive bar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am steveo:

@Zipperhead: I want to go to there.
  9:56am P-90:

Matt just doesn’t get around to play ping the “Urban” stuff much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

P-90 quite so. Naturally TheBeatles are a really useful yardstick. Their last 'AbbeyRoad' in 1969 for instance was done with pretty much completely different technology then everything else they did! & sounds all smooth & much more 'Modern' in that sense...
Zipperhead7 - let's all keep dreaming of great (or even decent) Jazz in Locals.
  9:59am Dee Jeronimo:

Love this Dogg
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...whereas TheBeatles' first couple albums in 1962-3 didn't even use enuff trax to make true Stereo out of - just putting the voices there & the instruments over there... Different Worlds in six years...

  10:06am Gerry from Miami:

Well, TDK60, due to some really unfortunate circumstances, I had to put my entire record collection in storage. When I will regain access to it remains speculative. I suggest that, if money is a problem, you can get to this Dylan material through one of the free streamers like YouTube. They have been my salvation(along with WFMU, of course!) when I get a hankering for certain music. YouTubes' ads are a pain, but you can adjust, I'm sure. Good hunting to you!

  10:17am Gerry from Miami:

@RevRabbitNov63. I found the "Blonde on Blonde" material, but haven't tried to access it recently. Sometimes these streamers take down material for copyright reasons and such. So I can't guarantee the Dylan stuff is still up. One of my favorite artists, pianist Keith Jarrett, had all the albums that he recorded for the ECM label, removed from YouTube.

Chris Farlowe was the first person to record Handbags and Gladrags (in 1966). Written & produced by Mike D'Abo who at the time was lead singer for Manfred Mann.

Hey, slugluv. I can still smell mainly apple cider vinegar after Goblin smashed a bottle this morning. That was a fun first task. New pic of the Brothers Squirm with K8 in my profile. Hope it cheers your day a touch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Handy - are they bigger there ?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am steveo:

goblin must have been disapointed; thought he was getting the good stuff, but turned out to be vinegar
Avatar 11:35am HyperDose:

@Handy Is the one with the bugged out eyes Goblin or Bugbear? 😂 Sooo cuteee!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am YETI BOB:

i've been AFK outside in the garden. reading the backscroll, for a sec I thought the EC you guys were talking about was Eugene Chadbourne :-)
  11:38am MrDeb:

Loving this set! Hot summer vibes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Handy Haversack:

Goblin is the one who looks perpetually surprised. I color-coded their collars, too, for ease of knowing which one to yell at when things are flying off shelves. They are definitely getting BIG! You can especially tell when I don't notice that Bugbear wants to jump into my arms and I end up with eight or so pounds of kitten hanging from my chest by his claws.
Avatar 11:40am TDK60:

Handy. Felines ignore judgements. And, if your sizes were switched, you'd be lunch. Just a friendly reminder.
Avatar 11:41am TDK60:

Oooh, Monterey was 1967. Great show Lil Stranger. Great mix. (can I tape?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Handy Haversack:

Don't I know it, TDK60.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Pardon, Dear. Monterey was June, 1967. Released 1970 presumably.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am luka:

Avatar 11:44am HyperDose:

Ouch! Considering how aggressive Missy was when I first got her, it's a miracle I'm able to trim her claws. She's mellowed out so much. Also remembering I promised you cat pics. Going to get right on that!
