Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Rich in Washington:

How are you (not)listening, neveract? Do you use the popup player?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Mr Fab:

Hi neveract: have you tried both the pop-up, and the 128k? And failing that, tried the app?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Rich in Washington:

God. Jack Dangers' production sound. Unmistakeable! So good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Mr Fab:

Oh, hey hey U1k, this track is BANGIN.
Avatar 12:08pm Ursula1000:

Love Dangers! turns out my neighbor across the street designed a slew of MBM album covers!
Avatar 12:09pm Ursula1000:

hiya Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Rich in Washington:

I'm listening on the popup right now and it works.
  12:09pm Kat in Chicago:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm neveract:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Rich in Washington:

Yeah, app works for me, too. That's how I was listening to Jan's show on my commute to work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Mr Fab:

the connection..? Well, I owned two of the three albums played so far. I didn't know that Meat Beat one, but wish I had.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm neveract:

I use the app when put and about, but at home I like to stream thru my old AR-4x's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Mr Fab:

AR-4xs? dang, party at neveracts' pad!
Avatar 12:14pm Ursula1000:

^LOL
Avatar 12:17pm Ursula1000:

just read that Ray Liotta passed away :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

I meant 'Oh yeah' to BB, not Ray dying, in case you were wondering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Feldy:

What?? Ray Liotta?!
Avatar 12:20pm Ursula1000:

yeah just saw he was filming overseas and passed away---not sure how...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Rich in Washington:

in his sleep. Dang. He was only 67.
Avatar 12:21pm Ursula1000:

crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm StringOFperils:

Hi U100! Bad Brains. That was a surprise, to tune in to...WFMU streams shouldn't surprise me by now, but there you have it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Rich in Washington:

Goodfellas is on the shortlist of films I watch every year or so. Watched it just a month or so ago.
Avatar 12:21pm Ursula1000:

hey SOp! :)
Avatar 12:22pm Ursula1000:

yeah a classic Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm StringOFperils:

Awww, Ray. I think Something Wild's on Criterion Channel now, so maybe I'll re-watch it in his honour. That's too bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Feldy:

Yep I just watched Something Wild
Avatar 12:24pm Ursula1000:

I haven't seen that in ages---loved it when it came out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm StringOFperils:

I see I called you you U100 up there. Sorry to diminish you like that, U1000 !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Mr Fab:

Ursula in Led Zep Airplay Shocker!
Avatar 12:26pm Ursula1000:

haha I didn't even notice it SOp! the worst was when the year 2000 hit and I was suddenly being called Ursula 2000 for like a year---that was hard to shake off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Rich in Washington:

He was in Copland, an actually OK Stallone movie. Sorta his arthouse comeback film, after which he went back to making the kinds of movies he became a joke for.
Avatar 12:26pm Ursula1000:

seems like I'm the 10th person to rock this Zep track on WFMU!who knew?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Mr Fab:

Ha, You brought out my Valley dude self. Yes, I loved Zep, gotta admit. A fact I had to hide from my New Waver pals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Rich in Washington:

I worked for a company that developed a product with 2000 in the model number/name and it took four years for it to hit the market. DOH! They dropped the digits eventually.
Avatar 12:28pm desi:

Time is movin & we are groovin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm StringOFperils:

As preposterous as Led Zep's swagger seems (to me) now, that was a very good band. (Their taking credit where credit was not due so much of the time is another story, but....do as thou wilt, thou art the whole of the law, Jim)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Mr Fab:

Last word in each song title is the first word in the next song title. What do i win!?!
Avatar 12:30pm Ursula1000:

ding ding ding! Mr Fab is the winner!
Avatar 12:31pm desi:

YaY Mr Fab
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm StringOFperils:

You get to predict the next song, Fab!
Avatar 12:32pm Ursula1000:

your trip to Sandals in Aruba awaits Mr Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Mr Fab:

OOh! Ok..."Are You Experienced?" Either the Hendrix or Devo version.s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm StringOFperils:

I hope you're right, either way.
Avatar 12:33pm Ursula1000:

what's your 2nd or 3rd guess? hint--new wave---no eyebrows...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Mr Fab:

Ah, durn! But this is a better song. Great choice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm StringOFperils:

Also a good one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Mr Fab:

ok gang, what song starts with "Electric"?
Avatar 12:38pm Ursula1000:

and no...I'm not playing Electric Youth from Debbie Gibson so get that idea out of your head now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Feldy:

I like that eel's fruit stripe gum fin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm neveract:

Hi @Mr. Fab.. Sorry for the late reply.. got an important call re: a sick friend. The pop-up still isn't working, but the 128k is. But come on over and party! It won't be too loud considering the age of the AR's; I don't wanna push the original components. I have re-conditioned them tho.. and both tweeters and woofers look great thankfully!
Avatar 12:42pm Ursula1000:

the last few times I had Fruit Stripe gum, the flavor lasted like 2 minutes! I remember accidentally swallowing those when I was young since they were so sweet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Feldy:

2 minutes sounds long for FS gum that's incredible!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Mr Fab:

neveract: weird about the pop-up (that's what I'm using) but hey, glad something's working.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm StringOFperils:

FS Gum looked beautiful. Maybe the best looking gum ever.
Avatar 12:48pm Ursula1000:

yeah--pretty to look at!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Feldy:

I love demos. Rougher the better
Avatar 12:54pm Ursula1000:

yeah this is pretty cool! tho I do miss the toot toot hey beep beep...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Feldy:

Either the lyrical content in this song evolved or I never realized how sad this song is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Mr Fab:

I like hearing that funky poppin bass.
Avatar 12:57pm Ursula1000:

Not sure if that Bad Girls demo was b4 Moroder got his hands on it or not
Avatar 12:57pm Ursula1000:

guilty pleasure alert coming....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Rich in Washington:

Funny. Really enjoying this album the last couple of years.
Avatar 12:59pm Ursula1000:

oh man, I've been listening to it this past week---all killer no filler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Rich in Washington:

my appreciation for groups and albums which I at the time thought were 'dumb' is a really weird thing in my old age.
Avatar 12:59pm Ursula1000:

as a drummer---holy shit, Terry Bozzio.....!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Mr Fab:

I did not like this band back in the day, but now I totally hear Dale Bozzio's Zappa background in the drumming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Rich in Washington:

Dale also did some voice work in Joe's Garage Act II-III. Yeah, I think ALL of Missing Persons were Zappa stablemates in the 80s.
Avatar 1:03pm Ursula1000:

yep all ex Zappa players--their US Festival set is up on YT---super tight! www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Mr Fab:

Wow, if I knew Lush covered this Wire classic back in '91, i had forgotten - great find!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Feldy:

Min(e)r Threat next?
Avatar 1:04pm Ursula1000:

^haha
Avatar 1:04pm Ursula1000:

I did cheat a pinch since this has an apostrophe s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm StringOFperils:

Avatar 1:05pm Ursula1000:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Feldy:

LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Feldy:

I've never heard any Beth Hirsch work outside of AIR, this is great
Avatar 1:07pm Ursula1000:

Bang Bang is this French producer Xavier Jamaux who did some trip hop stuff similar to Air at the time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm StringOFperils:

Yeah, I like this a lot too...ah, the trip-hop years
Avatar 1:08pm Domenic:

Hi. Late for the party again... this Beth Hirsch track is LUSH! Lovely.
Avatar 1:09pm Ursula1000:

hey Domenic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Mr Fab:

kinda thought Dusty owned this song, but this nice - funky-ish groove
Avatar 1:11pm Ursula1000:

yeah was torn which version to play
Avatar 1:11pm Ursula1000:

Avatar 1:11pm Domenic:

I heard Son of a Preacher Man on another program earlier and the DJ mentioned it was written for Aretha Franklin who at 1st rejected it.. "too close to home" maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Mr Fab:

Glad you played these versions, cuz i don't know 'em!
Avatar 1:12pm Domenic:

that should be googled..
Avatar 1:12pm Ursula1000:

wow crazy--never heard that story Domenic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm StringOFperils:

Aretha's dad. the Reverend C.L., wouldn't have approved of it too much
Avatar 1:13pm Domenic:

I just bought this "Herbie Mann & Tamiko Jones" LP a month ago! LOL
Avatar 1:15pm Ursula1000:

the Day Tripper version on this Herbie Mann & Tamiko Jones album is super groovy
Avatar 1:24pm Ursula1000:

I'm only playing this because Mr Fab is a HUGE Dio fan!
Avatar 1:25pm Domenic:

Your making me listen to Black Sabbath? LOL.. Heard some of Vagelis Heaven and Hell on a program here? It was pretty good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Mr Fab:

Ha ha! \m/ Yeah, I'm not too familiar with non-Oz Sabbath, so always happy to learn.
