Avatar 🎸 3:01pm Jon Graboff:

@Dennis - Big Joe Turner got me thinking about all that great post big band, post WW II band leaders. Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Buddy Johnson etal. Such great stuff and would love to hear more of it! BTW, when Amy Allison asked Mose who he really dug coming up, he said that Buddy Johnson was his big love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Dennis Diken:

@Jon Graboff - ask and ye shall receive!!
Avatar 🎸 3:03pm Jon Graboff:

@Dennis - Buddy Johnson's sister Ella's version of Since I Fell For You puts all other versions to rest! Heard it?
Avatar 3:04pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello Dennis, Mom Whig, Andrew, Ed, all!
Avatar 3:04pm David Shortell:

I’ve never seen “I Married Joan”. By that point, Backus had already spent a few years voicing that myopic coot co-created by the Yo La Tengo drummer’s father.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Dennis Diken:

@Jon Graboff - ca ca ma ca @Hoboken Jack - hey, man!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Dennis Diken:

I'm happy to report that I share a birthday with the great Mr. Backus!! may I recommend his fine book Rocks On The Roof?
  3:13pm Gerry from Miami:

Don't forget super-Musk/Bezos rich type Thurston Howell III in "Gilligan's Island!"
  3:14pm b0b0b0b:

Favorite Gilligan's Island line: Mr. Howell is helping the others build a hut:
Thurston: "Lovey, what is this strange liquid on my brow?"
Lovey: "That's sweat, dear."

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:23pm myron feld:

Dennis and everyone, did anyone see Big Joe Turner during his Tramps appearances in the early 80s or anywhere/anytime? Silo-esque!
Avatar 🎸 3:24pm Jon Graboff:

The Velvet Fog!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Woo:

The guitar solo on the Johnny Rivers version of SAM may be my favorite guitar solo. If I had to pick.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Mike Sin:

Well all right! Hi Dennis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Dennis Diken:

@myron feld - yes, saw Big Joe at the old Tramps - sat next to him at the bar once. at showtime he muttered "well, I guess it's time to get up there and get it all together..." he also kept an eagle eye on his watch during the set! I also saw him sing at Doc Pomus' birthday at the latter's apartment!
  3:27pm Christina Ginger:

Checking in from work because I actually have time today! Also, I like bugging Mike Sin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Dennis Diken:

@Mike Sin - hey dude! @Christina Ginger - welcome!

  3:32pm Gerry from Miami:

"Viva Las Vegas" with Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley was my high school senior prom movie. 58 years ago!!
Avatar 3:33pm David Shortell:

I’m intrigued by that line Johnny Rivers sang in the theme to the American edition of “Danger Man”: “They’ve given you a number and taken away your name.”
He predicted the premise for Patrick McGoohan’s next series!
  3:33pm Christina Ginger:

Man, I don’t think I’ve heard a bad version of Sorrow. It’s such a great tune.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Mike Sin:

Nice one from WrecklessEric.
  3:39pm Gerry from Miami:

The McCoys("Fever," "Hang On, Sloopy") got the first shot at "Sorrow." But the Merseys had the hit. David Bowie put it on the "Pinups" album of his teen faves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - how cool is that? @David Shortell - I think Sloan/Barri were clued into that -was Danger Man a British show? @Christina Ginger - yes, indeed!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:40pm myron feld:

@DD: Otis Blackwell....yawn....Mike Stoller....another has-been...but Andy Schwartz?!? WOW!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Eric R:

best Jan and Dean song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Dennis Diken:

@myron feld -right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Dennis Diken:

@Eric R - I do not disagree!
Avatar 3:42pm David Shortell:

Yes, "Danger Man" debuted in the UK in 1960--before the 1962 movie "Dr. No" kicked off the whole spy-fi craze!
  3:44pm Gerry from Miami:

Mr. Sloan and his collaborators produced a helluva lot of great records! Genius!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Eric R:

we were talking about Danger Man ..day before yesterday? I was saying I'm not sure who Drake worked for. Listening to the intro I find it unclear. He mentions the CIA, Le Deuxieme, MI5, then says when it's messy they contact him. Does that mean MI5 (the last mentioned) or some outside group? I can't tell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - oh, man, to be sure, to be sure! one of my favorite songwriters of all time, that PF Sloan!!
Avatar 🎸 3:47pm Jon Graboff:

Are You Experienced and basically every John Lee Hooker song make me think that chord changes are over rated! heh
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Eric R:

what a crazy session California Dreaming must have been. PF Sloan coming up with the guitar intro, Bud Shank coming in for the break
