Hello Domenic!

This seems a little inappropriate, but I can't tell why.

Good Hello! Man, today is just FLYING by. I feel like I'm late to everything!

Hi Space Brother Greg and all!😊

Hey Austin. I'm late to lots of stuff.

It's the John R!

I hate being late, but it happens. Calm down, and enjoy the soothing sounds of Spacebrother...
Avatar 5:11pm

I wonder if there's more covers of 5-0 from anyone besides Don Ho and Sammy Davis Jr? There have to be.
  5:12pm
John R:

Didn’t Don Ho have a variety show?

Domenic:

Must be tons...

More songs with lyrics that you didn't know had lyrics. I really should do another show about this

SBG: thanks for the link!

Mr Fab:

i saw the Don Ho show on our honeymoon. Gotta a picture with us and him somewhere....
Avatar 5:18pm

@ Fab - Find it!! Wish I'd taken a pic with Yma Sumac, but she perfomed for 20 minutes and then disappeared.

and there were no cel phones then.

David in California:

Hello, Greg. I had a fake book with lyrics to "Take Five" and for the themes from "Star Trek", "The Odd Couple", and "The Third Man", but I don't know if anyone ever recorded those vocal versions.
Avatar 5:21pm
Domenic:

Jazz singer Camen McRae did a great version of Take Five..
Avatar 5:21pm
spacebrother:

@ David - I have played all those except the Third Man theme. What were some of the others?
Avatar 5:22pm
Mr Fab:

I think Nichele Nichols recorded a version of "Star Trek" with lyrics. haven't heard "The Odd Couple", and "The Third Man" but that sure sounds nutty.
Avatar 5:22pm
spacebrother:

@ Domenic - I think I've heard that one. You're right. Smooth!
Avatar 5:22pm
Mr Fab:

Domenic: my head spins trying to imagine that.
Avatar 5:23pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - I think I remember that Gene Roddenberry wrote lyrics to the theme so he could get residuals for it.
Avatar 5:25pm
spacebrother:

I think this audience might have been pretty drunk.
Avatar 5:26pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, pretty sleazy. Robert Altman's son write the lyrics to the MASH theme when he was 19, and even tho the tv series used an instrumental version, he still got royalties. Altman says his son made more money off MASH than he did.

HyperDose:

😍🎩
Avatar 5:30pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - There's probably a thousand stories like those. Wish one of them was me. Without the sleaze.
Avatar 5:31pm
spacebrother:

Hey, Hyper D!
Avatar 5:32pm
Mr Fab:

i also didn't catch the jewish references in "The Ballad Of Irving" as a young 'un listening to Dr Demento. We were talking about "Hollywood Squares" on Rich's show, about how all those double-entendres jokes flew over our head.

Good morning all
  5:33pm
John R:

Hi Aitch!
Avatar 5:34pm
Mr Fab:

i'm guessing these guys are Scandinavian?
Avatar 5:34pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - There was a particular double meaning in the line "He always followed his mother's wishes/ Even on the range he used two sets of dishes" is referring to kosher food prep rules and the range is the stove and the open range.
Avatar 5:35pm
spacebrother:

Hey Aitch!
Avatar 5:35pm
spacebrother:

The Blue Cats were apparently German. Surprised me.
Avatar 5:35pm
Mr Fab:

Wow, well I def did not catch that joke!
Avatar 5:36pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - I didn't until just the other day when I was prepping the show! That, and I hadn't heard it in decades.
Avatar 5:41pm
spacebrother:

Almost everyone I know who hears this song for the first time thinks it's boring. I have loved it since I was a kid.
Avatar 5:42pm
Mr Fab:

OMG, I hated this album, haha! My big sis had lots of Beatles/solo Beatles, and no one liked "Wild Life." She just bought it cuz it was Wings.
Avatar 5:43pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - Or they actively hated it...LOL

I meant the weed Greg
Avatar 5:46pm

Now I'M not getting references.

It was apparently recorded at Abbey Road.

In a cloud of weed smoke.

@ Austin - P-Model continues to amaze me. I wish I'd known about them in their heyday, but their fame was apparently confined to Japan. Sounds like a bit of DEVO cross-pollination.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah... they were picking up something that they were putting down. How funny! I need to explore.
Avatar 5:53pm
spacebrother:

I think I want to start collecting their vinyl, since that's possible now.
Avatar 5:55pm
Mr Fab:

I only knew about P-Model cuz friend of mine who worked at record stores had an import copy that I think he pretty much just bought for the cover. Cuz they just look SO damn New Wave. I was amazed that Spacebrother had heard of them.
Avatar 5:56pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - I think I need to do a Japanese New Wave edition of SHY.
