"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

@Yeti - I am unfamiliar with berimbau and arcomusical. What's the story?
Avatar 🎸 12:46pm
YETI BOB:

Berimbau is a one-string instrument that's used in Brazilian music. It has African roots, as does the diddley-bow. Enslaved people brought these to the Americas. Arcomusical is the name of the group I saw performing with these instruments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
tim from washington:

This could fit easily on the Mutiny EP. This is so good.
Avatar 🎸 12:46pm
YETI BOB:

Tim - each instrument only produces a few different notes, but by combining/interlocking parts they build up something more complex. It's a bit like gamelan in that regard.

@Tim and @Andrew, sadly that Red Apple no longer exists. place was great though. you could wash your laundry right next door and while you waited, could slam some pierogies and golumpki. There's one that still exists, though a little out of the city in Niles.

@tim from washington: I spices are slightly different. It's pretty subtle. All I know is that an Indian friend of mine came for a visit and she said it was the best Indian food she'd had since moving to the States.

I tried making a vegan version last year. It was super complicated. And I screwed one thing up. The end result ... well, K8 was very charitable about it. But basically, I didn't know anything about fake milks and ended up using something that was sweetish (for coffee? I also take my coffee black). It was disheartening enough that I haven't tried it again since. Instead, I just eat shredded green paper.
