I find the accessiblity of The New Yorker much more enjoyable with out loosing clarity or focus. Even The New York Times Book Review is a walk in the park compared to the Gordian knots in the NYRB.

What I like about both of them is that I end up getting a mini-education in whatever subject is being discussed. Artists, writers, and events I was only tangentially aware of. Part of my continuing education. I usually skip the contemporary political articles because I get enough of those with my news reading. I am behind on my New Yorker reading though by a couple of years, even though I have an online subscription. Ooh, I'm telling Handy what you said, Mr. Pumpy!
	11:52pm Dean: For me NYRB, NYT Book Review, New Yorker, Atlantic, etc., are all of a kind. Most of the time an author (of a review, a story, a poem) is toeing the line, but every once in a while somebody delivers a marvelous exercise in verbal excellence. Rare, but occasional.

What I like about both of them is that I end up getting a mini-education in whatever subject is being discussed. Artists, writers, and events I was only tangentially aware of. Part of my continuing education. I usually skip the contemporary political articles because I get enough of those with my news reading. I am behind on my New Yorker reading though by a couple of years, even though I have an online subscription. Ooh, I'm telling Handy what you said, Mr. Pumpy!
