Apparently recorded by Columbia, not issued because of the big purge. I don’t know how the vinyl issue will be handled, many tracks are 30 minutes or more…

But I'm still pretty sure the melody predates that recording by a lot (Ibrahim has a pool of melodies he likes to recycle). It would be interesting to ask Chris Albertson, though..).

I think this is especially true of the Evans releases, though I did enjoy half of one where he had Jack DeJohnette drumming (NOT overly documented).

So later Evans live stuff doesn't get to me the same way those early trio dates did.

Given that many of these newly released recordings would not have gotten the artist’s approval at the time… maybe there’s a hierarchy: artist approved at the time, artist approved later, artist approved in context of box set, family approved, unapproved….
