Ben, no problem. Both Russia and Ukraine have a terrible history of violence, corrupt and/or ignorant and illiterate 'running' things, even within the Royal Family. To the contrary, I thought P*tin cared *more* about money and profits than this. Instead of being satisfied with counting his billions that he's pilfered from the Russian people, he seems instead intent on this highly UNprofitable imperialistic project, because he wants to be... what, a new emperor? To go down in history as the macho man who expanded Russia again and reversed its decline? I don't see how it benefits him at all monetarily. If he was just happy to count his money, Ukraine wouldn't be in this mess, would it? I could be wrong, feel free to correct me.

heya Franco!

ooooo, *jealous* :)

luckily, i got to see Tuxedomoon in NYC -- 1981? '82? (i know i was already out of college & working in Manhattan) -- do not recall the venue -- may have been a Ralph Records event? (although -- they may not have been on Ralph anymore by this time?) -- i DO remember that it was an incredible show

a student at the school i was working at was originally from San Fransisco, and she was friends with them -- this came up when we were talking about how boring things had gotten (already! in 1981/82, hah!) and how we rarely went to see bands anymore -- and she mentioned that one of the few shows she had seen was Tuxedomoon, same show i was at -- cannot recall her name (Victoria?), but i believe that she is still writing

there is also a book -- "Music for Vagabonds: The Tuxedomoon Chronicles" by Isabelle Corbisier -- out of print for years, i have yet to track down a copy

Since it was right next door to The Fillmore Auditorium, it was also a practice room for both The Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead ten years before. @Ben -- iirc, Belinda was in an early incarnation of The Germs -- she introduces them on a live recording (ROIR cassette?) -- "I used to be in the band but I left because they were too messy" -- or something like that

Every time The Mentors played here I wouldn't hear about it until it was already over and it was always at a strip club or biker bar on Pendleton Pike anyway. It seemed like they toured on a whole other circuit than all the presentable punk bands like Black Flag and Circle Jerks

What is Mosrite?
  11:47pm
P-90:

A brand of electric guitar
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
ultradamno:

Evidently, the mosrite was all he could afford to start with and then he made it his thing, something that set him apart (which it kind of did). So, maybe a little touchy about it, but if it's good enough for The Ventures.

Of course, once Kramer gave Johnny money to endorse their guitars...
