And we're off! Pledge $100 or more at wfmu.org or 800-989-9368 to get your request in! Support WFMU, Todd-o-phonic Todd's show, and Yo La Tengo's presence!
Remember, when you make your song request, obscurity is not your friend! The best chance of getting your song done by Yo La Tengo is to a) request well known songs, and b) give second choices.
Steve Marriott and the Small Faces. Picked up on them with "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" because the album cover was so cool! Who knew the music inside was even cooler?!!
Ok, I'd donate 100 but I already shelled out $$$ to Dave the Spazz last week as well as the KALX fundraiser. So if anyone out there wants to pledge 100 but doesn't know what song to ask for, here are a few suggestions "I'm in love with me" Or "wait" or "Help Wanted" by the Swinging Neckbreakers... Or Reggae Reggae by the Real Kids
Wick Records bundle (which includes this superfine Billy Swivs 45) is the prize up for grabs now. A $20 pledge or more gets you in the running to win it. Pledge now!
It always cracks me up what songs they don’t know. You could wake me up at 4AM and I could sing ‘Jean Genie’ perfectly, meanwhile YLT tears through note-perfect versions of songs I’ve never heard before.
Can you top up someone’s pledge who didn’t pledge enough to get their request?

Remember Web Pledgers wanting request - gotta shoot your whole wad for Todd on the selection thingy for shows to keep it just for this shift and to get your request
@Brian: maybe that could be a future Yo La Tengo fundraising concert! — pledge $100 to hear the original, or $200 to hear the misheard-lyrics version of commonly mistaken pop hits
I don’t know if the “Yo La Tengo Murders The Classics” CDs were put out by them or by WFMU, but I’d totally pledge again for a third volume of those if it exists sometime! (Maybe for the Halloween Hellraiser?)
I could have sworn they played Human Fly early in the set, but I was washing dishes and guess I couldn't hear. In any case, glad to catch it loud and clear now!
One of my favorite songs, done super! (laughing to think of the video of the Cramps live at the Mudd and his trousers falling off, glad y'all are sitting down)
chresti, glad you liked it! I found it randomly by looking for his art, and that painting is so adorable, I'm going to print it out for my bulletin board
Maybe if I could find him we could use his Destructo as your avatar. I think he appeared in only 1 frame of "The War Agency". Or possibly Anti-Disco Comics.
Whoever requested this wins the big prize...YLT doing Kraftwerk! Yes, please!!!

Bloke from the Sukkah:
I'm the Peter S from Mass. who pledged $100 but Todd said I needed to add an extra 0 to my pledge to get my request played. I called the station and spoke to a very sympathetic person, who apologized for the glitch, but I still haven't heard my request. I hope YLT can get to it in the next few minutes.
Hi, Miss G! No, after a LONG walk, I am inside trying to figure out what gaming stuff I can sell. We're actually leaving for Jersey City soon -- Kim Gordon tix!
Whoa Handy you and K8 will have a blast, yay! I too was looking around the house to see what I could sell, ha ha! I haven't been able to attend most of the marathon this year, but so chuffed that I could hear this special live show. I listened to Fabio and Clay before the show and it made me dig deep into my pockets. YAY FLESHTONES!
I was going to request a song from the infamous Zantees/Nervus Rex/Fleshtones "Battle of the Bands" at Loeb Student Center, wondering if Ira and Georgia were there, but they might be younger.
This is etched-in-stone required listening every year

Nick in San Francisco:
Thanks for saying my name on the radio and thanks for not saying "Go Giants" along with it. But now I'm going to root for them this year just to flip the script.
Sorry to be missing Ira, Georgia, James and Bruce covering "A House Is Not a Motel" in person!! One of the most intensely beautiful Arthur Lee songs!! Thanks Todd and Gaylord for this very special afternoon!!

Glistener MW:
Bee Bee Sea! I won something of theirs in a previous marathon of yesteryear. Fantastic band
Todd-o-phonic Todd, WFMU always shows me recent music I might never find. That I blast out the windows of my car, yesterday as I was lost in the rich people's neighborhood, I blasted "Love Lovers" that Sheila B showed me!

Two Aces on FMU! The soul brothers like no others.

OMG thank you for playing this, I always feel guilty how much I love it, I mean, it is violence to women? But. . .I think it's just words. LOVE!
