Listener comments!
Where's dreamyandseedy? Let's make this weekend official!
Good afternoonikins all
And hey, loveless, βrian, Rob Kopp, James, DjLorrain, and all the fine Friday folxes!
Any of you fine sophisticates going to see Mattiel in Brooklyn tonight?
Sounds good, Brian!
Well we′re here
We're at the common again
Smoked six of the ten fags that I only bought an hour ago
Said well I I like the look of your shoes
I like the way that your face looks when I′m arguing with you
And so when, when we all grow old
I hope this song will remind you that I'm not half as bad as bad as what
You've been told
And when I knock At one hundred and two
And I see your pyjamas I can′t stop smiling at you
And that′s why when
We're at the common again
I′ve been pouring my heart out Towards your optimistic grin
Said well I, I I like the cut of your jib
I like the way that your face looks
When you're yapping on about him
But on this shirt I found your smell
And I just sat there for ages Contemplating what to do with myself
Called you up
At one hundred and two
We just sat there for ages Talking about that boy what was getting onto you You
Had to recently look up the word "eponymous" even though I had encountered it before ... Think I remember it for longevity now???
(K8 just did her Young Frankenstein!)
Looking forward to next Friday when Sheila launches the I'll keep playing Phil Collins until you reach my goal gambit.
That is how I found FMU (much repeated story) .. '79? '80? was looking for EFD's NYU show = analog dial - and heard FMU djs threatening to play the Eagles if folks did not donate...
time to punch that stupid time clock. thanks djsheilab and listeners. have a nice weekend!
www.youtube.com...
Well, however you might feel about Phil Collins, I too am from 1974, and this sounds a ton better than I do.
Nathan anything is better then phil collins
Thanks for playing it Sheila!!!!

Born and raised in Baltimore, she remains a local educator to young local poets in the Washington DC area.
Wanda Robinson recorded two spoken-word albums:
1971 - Black Ivory (made Billboard`s Black Album chart, reaching #29)
1973 - Me and a Friend (put together from tracks she’d recorded for Black Ivory - Wanda had nothing to do with the release of this work, she had left the music business prior to it's release)
Both were released by the label - Perception Records
Both feature Wanda reading her work over Jazz-R&B
Her work could be viewed as an important precursor to hip-hop.
In 1972, fed up with being paid very little for her work, she shaved her head, changed her name to Laini Mataka and left the music business.
As Laini Mataka, she has several books of her poetry published
1988 - Never as Strangers
1994 - Restoring the Queen
2000 - Bein a Strong Black Woman
I replied that Buffet makes me remember when the most pressing concern in my life was what was I going to make for dinner. If that's nostalgia then so be it. It works for me.
Mmmmm....martinis.
Lovely.
Not big on pina coladas tho
Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha...
“Going, going, going on beyond, always going on beyond, always becoming Buddha.” Life is a journey, not a destination, wherein enlightenment is a constant process of accepting life’s impermanence.
Thx Sheila for the excellent music, live in the NOW. Good day to y'all.
Almost 0:00 here in Holland. Time to sit in silence :-)
Time for PEACE (everywhere!)
Never a complaint
You are absolutely perfect
