Me too. I saw him and the Hot Licks in 1972 when I was in high school. I took this girl who was high on who knows what. By the time Dan Hicks hit the stage she had her face buried in my chest and a death grip on my arm. Despite all this, I enjoyed the show immensely.

I saw Mr. Hicks in a club in Chicago on a snowy night in the 80s. A car outside skidded out of control and slammed through the front door. Everybody scrambled, but Danny Boy raised one eyebrow and kept right on playing...

@dan. Are you familiar with the 1966(67?) film called "Blow-Up," directed by Michelangelo Antonioni starring David Hemmings and scored by Herbie Hancock? There is a scene shot in a London night club in which the Yardbirds "have a rave-up" playing a tune called "Stroll On"(which they convert into "Train Kept A'Rollin"). Madness ensues and becomes the most memorable part of the movie for me. The Yardbirds always left their mark on everything they did.

@dan. Maybe you should give the film a second look. Quite a murder mystery that contains some surrealistic elements-- like the tennis game! Julio Cortazar's original short story is a gem. And StringOfPerils is right---the photo shoot scenes with super-tall fashion model Veruschka are a must-see.
