Jen, if you mean on Discogs, I’d wager it has something to do with supply & demand. It wasn’t that there were more sold there, just that it was more difficult, more expensive to buy those ones so they are the ones that remain unsold.

Avatar 6:36pm

Avatar 6:36pm
cometothesunshine:

As a group member 25 year old Bob Thomas was fairly successful - - playing with such groups as Dale Rivers and the Ramrods, the Burlington Berties and eventually finding a place with David and Jonathon's backing group. But Bob found that what with long weekends away from home playing with the group, he was missing his pretty 25 year old wife Carol.

So Bob gave up being a group singer and became a duo instead - - with Carol. She used to sing with the Kerry Sisters and together they began to concentrate on writing in the cosiness of their home in Bristol. One particular song On My Life caught the eye of a London publisher who persuaded the Thomas's to record it themselves as Bob And Carol.

"It's the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us", said a breathless Carol.

Carol, a secretary, and Bob, a graphic designer, have been married two-and-a-half years. Now they are singing together as a cabaret act and keeping their fingers crossed for the success of their first single."

BY RANDY I DID
  7:25pm

Different song actually! What I *think* happened was someone in the Bright Tunes offices may have confused it with the other Sharin' song by Randy & The Rainbows, that he did write. Just an educated guess....

Maybe I'm biased, but I've always preferred Brute's version to the Other Voices. The original has a certain absurd depth combined with raw beauty, that gets lost here....that "I had a dream" line is epic though.

I prefer Brute's as well. So great.

  7:42pm

The "Both Sides Now" LP they recorded for Buddah around '70-71 is awesome (well side one, the new material....since we all love side two, which is their older material).
  7:42pm
Chaim:

Believe it or not, WB did released green label stock copies of Adam & Evening, though they are scarce....
  7:42pm
Mark Frumento:

Yes, I really like Both Sides Now.
Avatar 7:42pm
cometothesunshine:

I agree - even the Cross Country stuff is quite good.
  7:43pm
Pat:

Interesting, Andrew. They still have the rights to tracks they issued as singles though? I know those ended up as bonus tracks on Real Gone's "Happening World" CD.
Avatar 7:43pm
WLSClark:

They do a GREAT job of remaking those early 45s on that LP. "Dont Worry Baby" and "Lets Her Hair Down" 45s were faves that year for me.
  7:44pm
Chaim:

WLSclark - the only remake on there IIRC is The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Rest of side two are just the old B.T. Puppy recordings. Side one is all new songs.
Avatar 7:44pm
cometothesunshine:

Pat - it is possible, but we did find a legal letter from someone granting the rights to Intercourse back prior to its 1970 LP release.
Avatar 7:44pm
cometothesunshine:

That is what kinda held up the Rhino Handmade set in the end.
Avatar 7:45pm

Clark - there are a few Dunwich/Bright Tunes connections.
  7:46pm
Chaim:

Yeah, it is. Don't know the full Dunwich - Bright Tunes story. I do know Amanda Ambrose had some 70s releases as well.
  7:46pm
Mark Frumento:

The Real Gone CD held up the Rhino set? Or the rights?
Avatar 7:47pm

The rights issues with some of the recordings I selected.
  7:47pm
Mark Frumento:

Ah, okay.
