EP	Emotional Rescue	2020	What is known about Silver Leaf, beyond that it was a short-lived mid-80s project out of Cincinnati, Ohio, is that it features ex-Zephyr keyboardist John Faris, working alongside the mysterious vocalist Silvia Leaf. The difference between the blues and occasional psychedelic rock of early 70s Boulder, Colorado’s Zephyr and the lo-fi recordings of Silver Leaf are striking, but in Hey! and Can We Rebuild Our City?, the power of the ballad and strong playing of John, is wrapped in mid-80s, mid-States lo fi heaven. Whether a non-de-plume, Ms Leaf’s searing, innocent vocals fly above John’s keys and programming. Hey!’s repetitive exhalations act like a mantra to a party, while tom’s chime in accompaniment. Here it comes! Can We Rebuild Our City? starts with Faris’ forlorn intro before crashing percussion heads to some kind of wonderful, as Leaf questions a calls to hearts. The Jellies	Jive Baby on a Saturday Night	Jive Baby on a Saturday Night	Trunk Records	2010	Yes, here come the Jellies. All over again, To be honest they never really made it the first time, even though they tried. This very small band got together in 1981 and made a 7" single. There are tales of long tape loops running from tape machines to pencils along hallways throughout the recording. There are tales of them pressing up about 1,000 copies on their own little label called Jelly Records. They speak of getting it played on John Peel's Show, and selling about 15 copies to Rough Trade. And then nothing. This was back in 1981. Most of the unsold records were scrapped and are now part of the UK's landfill. The band never recorded again, it was a disaster.		0:06:46 (Pop-up)

This question will be answered on Friday November 12th when the collective will unveil their finds by releasing Volume 1 of a compilation album titled ‘The Eccentronic Research Council presents: Wayward Freaks from a synthetic Street’ on limited edition cassette & digital featuring a whole host of new ERC produced wayward troubadours; - and to celebrate its release they will be hosting some Desolate Spools showcase events featuring some of these great new artists.	*	0:15:01 (Pop-up)

The Monkees	Daily Nightly "Daily Nightly" by "The Monkees"	Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd.	Colgems	1967	The lyrics are a veiled commentary on the Sunset Strip curfew riots,which occurred in Hollywood, California in late 1966. The record was arguably the very first rock recording to feature the Moog synthesizer,programmed by musician Paul Beaver and played by Micky Dolenz, who was an early owner of a Moog; the fills he played were described as "spacey UFO noises", and were characteristic of psychedelic music, which was then in vogue. The Moog sections were significantly different between the stereo and mono mixes of the track. Dolenz also provided the vocals. Because limey is American slang for an English person, it would be easy to take them for an American band attempting a British-sounding name. Big Maybelle	96 Tears "96 Tears" by "Big Maybelle"	The Pure Soul of Big Maybelle	CBS	1967	Big Maybelle was a big lady with a big voice. She started off as a gospel singer, but switched to R & B in the 50's. In 1955, she recorded the song "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", produced by up-and-coming producer Quincy Jones, a full two years before rockabilly then rock and roll singer Jerry Lee Lewis's version. Lewis credited Smith's version as being the inspiration to make his version much more louder, raunchy and raucous, with a driving beat and a spoken section with a come-on that was considered very risque for the time.		0:38:32 (Pop-up)

NO it is NOT a theremin you're hearing it's a Đàn bầu....made of just four parts: a bamboo tube, a wooden rod, a coconut shell half, and a silk string. Modern versions now have a pickup and electric guitar string. The dan bau technique appears relatively simple at first glance, but actually requires a great deal of precision. The fifth finger of the musician's right hand rests lightly on the string at one of seven commonly used nodes, while the thumb and index finger pluck the string using a long plectrum. With the left hand, the player pushes the flexible rod toward the instrument with the index finger to lower the pitch of the note, or pushes it away from the instrument with the thumb to raise the pitch.		0:44:04 (Pop-up)

Currently based between Dublin, London, and Bristol; M(h)aol is composed of Róisín Nic Ghearailt, Constance Keane aka Fears, Jamie Hyland (AKA Girl Band’s ‘Holding Hands With Jamie’), Zoe Greenway, and Sean Nolan. Together, the band aim to shake up the male dominated post-punk scene with their urgent, shadowy sounds. This track is a response to how gender changes throughout our lifetime, and how some people wish to force the gender binary upon others. Gustaf	Book "Book" by "Gustaf"	Audio Drag for Ego Slobs	Royal Mountain	2021	Audio Drag For Ego Slobs (out October 1 via Royal Mountain Records) is part-bastardisation of a Laurie Anderson quote and part-dig at the pretentious music crowd. Their particular sound harkens back to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills’ heyday in the early 00s and to femme-punk idols The Raincoats. The record, produced by Lydia alongside Carlos Hernandez of Mr Twin Sister and Ava Luna, is a calling card and a channeling of the raw live energy that entrenched them so deep in the hearts of the contemporary punk scene. A lot of the inspiration for lyrics has roots in academic work; especially modern history and sociologies of the recent past, but simplified and delivered with an emotional response. Musically, Television has always been a big influence on our guitar work – the thoughtful interweaving of melodies is something we’ve strived to mimic. Talking Heads are another key inspiration, particularly as we move into more dancy and upbeat territory. Lena Platonos	And We Hear "I Love You"	Galop	Melody Maker	1985	Holy fuck is this song ever amazing. This album from Greek first lady of electronic is a masterpiece. She began her career in 1963 as a classical pianist. Platonos turned entirely to electronic music and to experimental directions in form, orchestration and verse. Her compositions follow minimalistic motifs with intense use of keyboards, schematising carefully staged soundscapes. The voice, frequently passing through electronic filters, at times plays a central role – right up to the uniqueness in compositions of delivery – but may be used also like a simple instrument of accompaniment. Her verses, usually surrealistic in their expression, are nevertheless direct and touch on themes of daily routine and personal relationships, especially love and alienation, and are distinguished by their tenderness and at other times childlike innocence.		1:59:57 (Pop-up)

The difference between the blues and occasional psychedelic rock of early 70s Boulder, Colorado’s Zephyr and the lo-fi recordings of Silver Leaf are striking, but in Hey! and Can We Rebuild Our City?, the power of the ballad and strong playing of John, is wrapped in mid-80s, mid-States lo fi heaven. Whether a non-de-plume, Ms Leaf’s searing, innocent vocals fly above John’s keys and programming. Hey!’s repetitive exhalations act like a mantra to a party, while tom’s chime in accompaniment. Here it comes! Can We Rebuild Our City? starts with Faris’ forlorn intro before crashing percussion heads to some kind of wonderful, as Leaf questions a calls to hearts. The Jellies	Jive Baby on a Saturday Night	Jive Baby on a Saturday Night	Trunk Records	2010	Yes, here come the Jellies. All over again, To be honest they never really made it the first time, even though they tried. This very small band got together in 1981 and made a 7" single. There are tales of long tape loops running from tape machines to pencils along hallways throughout the recording. There are tales of them pressing up about 1,000 copies on their own little label called Jelly Records. They speak of getting it played on John Peel's Show, and selling about 15 copies to Rough Trade. And then nothing. This was back in 1981. Most of the unsold records were scrapped and are now part of the UK's landfill. The band never recorded again, it was a disaster.		0:06:46 (Pop-up)

The Moog sections were significantly different between the stereo and mono mixes of the track. Dolenz also provided the vocals. She started off as a gospel singer, but switched to R & B in the 50's. In 1955, she recorded the song "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", produced by up-and-coming producer Quincy Jones, a full two years before rockabilly then rock and roll singer Jerry Lee Lewis's version. NO it is NOT a theremin you're hearing it's a Đàn bầu....made of just four parts: a bamboo tube, a wooden rod, a coconut shell half, and a silk string. Modern versions now have a pickup and electric guitar string. The dan bau technique appears relatively simple at first glance, but actually requires a great deal of precision. The fifth finger of the musician's right hand rests lightly on the string at one of seven commonly used nodes, while the thumb and index finger pluck the string using a long plectrum. Their particular sound harkens back to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills’ heyday in the early 00s and to femme-punk idols The Raincoats. The record, produced by Lydia alongside Carlos Hernandez of Mr Twin Sister and Ava Luna, is a calling card and a channeling of the raw live energy that entrenched them so deep in the hearts of the contemporary punk scene. Lena Platonos	And We Hear "I Love You"	Galop	Melody Maker	1985	Holy fuck is this song ever amazing. This album from Greek first lady of electronic is a masterpiece. She began her career in 1963 as a classical pianist. Platonos turned entirely to electronic music and to experimental directions in form, orchestration and verse. Her compositions follow minimalistic motifs with intense use of keyboards, schematising carefully staged soundscapes. The voice, frequently passing through electronic filters, at times plays a central role – right up to the uniqueness in compositions of delivery – but may be used also like a simple instrument of accompaniment. Her verses, usually surrealistic in their expression, are nevertheless direct and touch on themes of daily routine and personal relationships, especially love and alienation, and are distinguished by their tenderness and at other times childlike innocence.		1:59:57 (Pop-up)
