Good evening Irene, hello one and all
Avatar 🥁 11:57am βrian:

Downstate tractors!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:00pm listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Irene, and howdy, all!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:00pm David (in London):

Hello Irene and all groovers here gathered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Irene Trudel:

Hello Sean, βrian, james, David and all listening in and digging the music today!
  12:05pm Listener Robert:

Did you ever find out what all that equipment was doing on the side of the road?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & cold bodies everywhere.
Never really got down wind of The Fifth Dimension.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irene et al!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm David (in London):

Yes, love the photo. With some decent hats we could recreate a Cormac McCarthy novel with all that vintage equipment.

*remembers what usually happens in a Mark McCarthy novel*

Mmm, on second thoughts, maybe not...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Robert, Brian and WHenry! Rober, those tractors are all in someone's driveway outside Phoenicia, NY. He restores and sells them. But I spied them on our drive home and had to take pictures.
Avatar 🥁 12:11pm TonyR:

Are L and R in stereo balance today? Certain elements of 1st 2 tracks were shouting, others held back. But I'm not usually on Bluetooth for this show, so IDK.
  12:13pm Listener Robert:

Sounds OK on this laptop...to my tin ear, TonyR.
Avatar 🥁 12:14pm TonyR:

Thanks for the taste of Beatles' LIB..N. Red-headed stepchild of their oeuvre.
  12:15pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, Irene. It's been many years since I've been up that way. We used to go thru there on the way to Maben's Airport in Prattsville to shoot in the Catskill Mtn. Pyrotechnics Ass'n.
Avatar 🥁 12:15pm TonyR:

Thanks, LR. I will jiggle the handle here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Tony! That Fifth Dimension track was severely out of whack. An early days of stereo mix, remastered by Apple not in a good way.
Avatar 12:15pm Sylvia:

Hello Irene and listeners!
Avatar 12:16pm Sylvia:

we finished watching Get Back last night, what a marvel!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Sylvia, is that the three parter directed by Peter Jackson?
Avatar 🥁 12:18pm TonyR:

GB apparently not enjoyable for people who did not turn motion-smoothing off on their TV sets.
Avatar 🥁 12:20pm TonyR:

There are some killer memes out there now taken from screenshots of "Get Back". And that's all that really matters.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Michael 98145:

time moves forward
Avatar 🥁 12:24pm Bas NL:

Hi Irene! Hello everyone else!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Michael 98145:

hello, friends
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Brian in UK:

The Gift puts me in mind of Belle & Sebastian's Nobody's Empire but much slowed down.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:28pm David (in London):

It's weird how everywhere you turn at the moment is Beatles. Weird, but great. They're the only thing more ubiquitous than Neil Gaimon (who seems to be absolutely everywhere). I love it.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:29pm David (in London):

Brian, Sylvia, Bas, Michael, other Brian, Sean, Robert, James. Salutations good people.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Michael 98145:

Interesting that Gaiman should come to light ... i recently finally read my copy of Neverwhere.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Stanley:

H'evening all.
Avatar 🥁 12:33pm TonyR:

I paid $7.99 for one month of Disney+. You can't get a movie ticket for $7.99
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Sean in Bristol UK:

TonyR, I think this is the way to see this, there is no way I would stay a permanent paying viewer of Disney +
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Michael 98145:

cyber monday tractor sale?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm David (in London):

My step-daughter's annoying Disney Plus subscription suddenly developed a very pronounced upside...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Sylvia, Brian, David, Michael, and Stanley! Sylvia, we just watched Get Back while visiting friends in The Catskills. Loved it too, despite the length. Some great insights into their creative process (and the frustrations of dealing with each other). TonyR, I'm thinking of subscribing for just a month for that reason, so I can watch it again.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Brian in UK:

The Hollies stand the test of time!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Brian in UK:

Peter Jackson could make an advert for Pepeodent last half an hour.
Avatar 🥁 12:47pm prguitar:

Hi Irene and and fellow listeners.. Glad to be here on this cold, grey, rainy/snowy Monday. Feeling George's spirit strongly today. Twenty years since his passing.. where did the time go?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Brian in UK:

Michael Lindsey-Hogg's work on Ready! Steady! Go! in the Sixties was very influencial on pop music programmes to follow. He was on a hiding to nothing making a Beatles doc just before the breakup.
Avatar 🥁 12:54pm prguitar:

I'm with you and TonyR on subscribing Irene.. I know that watching multiple times is a given.. Actually quite a
bargain at $7.99!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for mentioning George, prguitar! I didn't realize today was the anniversary of his passing. Maybe next week I'll do a more substantial tribute.
Avatar 🥁 1:06pm TonyR:

As a kid with my aunt's record collection, IMM was my favorite LIB track (along with One after 909). So I liked to rock. sue me.
Avatar 🥁 1:07pm TonyR:

Ringo walked during "White Album" then came back.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Irene, Christmas has arrived early concerning our Metsies!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Stanley:

That Weather Report was played to death back in my horizontal days.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Webhamster Henry:

Apple "Music" drives me nuts.
Avatar 🥁 1:11pm TonyR:

Let me be THAT GUY and say that George could be an exasperating b*tch. There, I've said it. Now the healing can begin
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Webhamster Henry:

I did see Neil Gaiman appear in the Sparks doc. And Patton Oswalt. Let's just plop both of them in every documentary!
Avatar 1:13pm Sylvia:

@Sean yes, that’s the Peter Jackson’s (sorry I was away from a keyboard)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:18pm David (in London):

It really is hard to overstate just how ****ing good this song is.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Sorry, downloading this Renaissance album on to my fruit based device!!!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Irene! Been tracking. So keen to hear both your full show and your thoughts on "Get Back"! We loved it!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm David (in London):

Hey S&M&S
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Irene Trudel:

I have gone through several copies of Ashes are Burning. The vinyl still sounds great. And I love Annie Haslam's voice!
Avatar 🥁 1:31pm prguitar:

You're most welcome Irene! It's still really easy to lose all track of time... the hours seem to go fast especially late at night, or more accurately in the very early morning.. I'm still having trouble knowing what day it is.. pandemic brain? Or is it just fatigue with what is? Actually, everyone at WFMU doing their schduled weekly shows helps tremendously, except when multiple fill ins are frequent, or if I forget to look at the program schedule each day! Not being employed also weighs heavily in the mix.. All things must pass..
Avatar 1:32pm Sylvia:

ha! thank you Irene
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Aw... thank you!!!!
Avatar 1:33pm Sylvia:

I agree that George H. could be a bit annoying but let’s not forget he was only 24
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Hi, David!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm David (in London):

*thumbs up* BP.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Marvellous, Bipolar, the evening is now perfect. Your presence is royally declared in the principality of Bristol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Irene Trudel:

Good Day, S&M&S!
Avatar 🥁 1:37pm TonyR:

@Sylvia: and ya gotta give the man his due for how he dressed in the documentary. Why he was walking around like a farmer-hippie 8 months later is his business.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Stanley:

Me too, BP. Enjoying.
Avatar 1:40pm Sylvia:

@Tony yes, he was so fashionable
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Sean, David and Stanley - thank you!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Sean in Bristol UK:

BP, that bit of ground/carpet/ tile that you are about to walk on is worshipped here!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Irene - thank you! Very minor typo in the title for that song: it's actually "Expected Viking, Becoming Cyclonic" (Expected not "expecting). We were listening a lot to BBC Radio 4's Shipping Forecast at the time... x
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Sean in Bristol UK:

BP, I love Radio 4’s shipping forecast,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for the head's up, S&M&S! It's been corrected.
Avatar 1:54pm Sylvia:

thank you Sean and Stanley!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Stanley:

Hi David. Joe McG played John Otway and there was a bit of chat about him. I mentioned 'Otway The Movie', which I haven't seen yet but it's lined up on Netflix. You familiar?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm David (in London):

Wotcha Stanley. I am a Netflix-free zone, so sadly I've not seen it. I'll wager it's a hoot, though?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Sean - same here! First heard it when visiting London for the first time (like '96, maybe?!) and loved it immediately. Used to tape so many shows - especially Peel's and Andy Kershaw, Late Junction and end with the Shipping Forecast. Last March we were listening to a loop of The Shipping Forecast every night, probably the entire month, and that phrase "Expected Viking, Becoming Cyclonic" got in our head. We didn't actually sample anything from the Shipping Forecast itself but it did inspire... x
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Thank you, again, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Irene Trudel:

Ooh, I'll bet that Otway film is fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm annie:

that photo of "tractors" there is great, Irene.. gimme that ol'time religion...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm David (in London):

S&M&S - This one's for you:
www.youtube.com...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Thank you, David! Looking forward to watching!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Brian in UK:

My favourite is (Robert) Fitzroy, captain of the Beagle. Charles Darwin's ship.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Irene Trudel:

Looks like fun, David!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Stanley:

"Peel, Andy Kershaw, Late Junction" sounds like my nineties, too, S&M&S
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm doctorjazz:

Hi Irene and all, been listening, lurking...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm David (in London):

Chuck 'Mixing It' into that, er, mix Stanley / S&M&S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Irene Trudel:

Your lurking is appreciated, doctorjazz! And 'hi' to you, annie!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm David (in London):

You lurk with brio, doctorjazz.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Loving this track from Mr Johnson
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Stanley:

Yep, David and Mixing It.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Stanley:

And up here we had Iain Anderson's show (and still do)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Michael 98145:

Thank you again for this wealth of sounds
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chris in the redwoods:

also de-lurcking to show gratitude for the sounds today, Irene. they are *greatly* appreciated! :)
hello to all, as well, of course. always nice to see you, even if i can't chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Irene Trudel:
