The whole idea of beer is that it was created to survive long periods in storage (when there was no such thing as refrigeration) and long trips (when transportation was slow and bumpy.) Beer is stuffed with hops because hops is one of the most powerful natural preservatives.

@P-90: that is a very interesting and assuring fact. here's another one. The invention of beer came about when monks could only drink while fasting, so they tried to look for a way to make liquid bread for nutrition. The fermentation Factor came about as a fluke
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
Michael 98145:

few wonders better than fresh-baked bread
  4:05pm
P-90:

RRN63 is right: they used to brew Bass Ale in England and ship it on long trips by freighter, in all weather and temps, to India where the Brits maintained an enormous bureaucracy and army. It would sit in hot warehouses and then be shipped overland to every part of the continent, often consumed many months after leaving the brewery in Staffordshire, half a planet away. That’s why Bass and similar are generally called “India Pale Ales”

Indeed "The Sumerians had many different words for beer from sikaru to dida to ebir (which meant `beer mug') and regarded the drink as a gift from the gods to promote human happiness and well being. The original brewers were women, the priestesses of Ninkasi, and women brewed beer regularly in the home as part of their preparation of meals. "

  4:25pm
P-90:

The very first “beer” was probably based on honey and crudely processed grains. With various botanicals added as preservatives (hops ultimately won out as the universally most effective.) Stored in jars buried in cellars or directly in the earth to survive winters without freezing solid and hot summers without decomposing. Fermentation naturally ensued, as it did in many foodstuffs stored for periods of time.

I saw two drunks today, the first one was at the liquor store. He came staggering in and the clerk stopped him and told him to leave, the drunk try to verbally resist, but was ultimately rejected. When I was leaving the same drunk came around the corner and tried to repeatedly reenter several times to no success. A couple of hours later I just happened to look out my window and seen another one staggering widely side to side up the sidewalk, he would step off the curb way out into the street and back up on the sidewalk again repeating the same pattern. he look like he had blood on his face, perhaps from falling down or walking into something at one point. But the weird thing was both drunks happened to be wearing bright orange hoodies.

Shit, speaking about drunk's, the asshole across the hall sounds like he's lit, he's playing his music excessively loud and screaming and making all kinds of loud noises in an attempt to get my attention. But I don't want to squat to do with that little jerk. And to boot he keeps going in and out of his room slamming his door unnecessarily hard.

I wish the Langley Schools Music Project would've covered Lola by The Kinks. It would've sounded incredible!
