Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am YETI BOB:

Cool, Handy, thanks! I was bopping around making coffee and feeding cats and I missed that. We spend a lot of time on the 606 (former Bloomingdale) trail, before they made it nice we used to sneak up there and walk along the abandoned railroad tracks, but it's so much better now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Handy Haversack:

I think there's a series of those posts, YB.

OK, gotta go do some abluting. I guess I'll leave Bagpipe in charge ... ?

Bathroom Boombox will be booming!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am YETI BOB:

It makes me really happy to see whole families using the 606 trail. It's kind of like the High Line in Manhattan, except it actually goes somewhere, and it's not packed with 16 million tourists.

Roosevelt is a good man. He could of lounged on his yacht the rest of his life, but chose to do the other
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am chris_in_space:

I wonder if Cisco Houston's "Passing Through" was the inspiration behind Robert Crumb's Mr. Natural "Just Passin' Through" image.
  9:40am John Pietaro:

Ah, Moe Asch was such a leader in those years—and he stared down the right-wing boldly.
  9:42am dj jj.:

"passing through" was written by school teacher dick blakeslee, sung every night on henry wallace's 1948 presidential campaign, apparently wallace's favorite. great leonard cohen version, too.

Avatar 11:37am Mister Dobalina:

This is driving me crazy, I can't remember the hip hop song that sampled this track.
Avatar 11:38am Mister Dobalina:

And I don't want to cheat by using the innanets. Grrr...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am D Rok:

Mister Dobalina: Was it one of the Beastie Boys instrumentals?

Free the flute! Unleash!
Avatar 11:38am Mister Dobalina:

Doh! I should have read before making my dumb comment, thanks Kotzwinkled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& oh yeah - know High Flying Bird (not surprisingly) from Jefferson Airplane in MontereyPop - a great version. Back in the Olde Century we'd see these films on TV channels like once a year - a big deal for us... Now I know that Judy Henske's version (marvelous) was surely behind it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am D Rok:

HA! I didn't read above either before commenting!
Avatar 11:39am Mister Dobalina:

That whole Beastie Boys instrumental was off the hook good!!

Super solid show, Joe G. !! .
  11:53am Skyline chili formally kpx:

chresti, you know what would be funny. If Franco was to come home one day and presented you with some vagabonds and snakes, and then you could sing the lyrics of that Jim Stanford song that goes.♪I don't like vagabonds and snakes, and that's not what it takes for you to love me, like the way I want to be loved by you, you fool♪.
  11:53am KWilde:

Thanks Joe McG - great job!

Thanks, Joe. Might need a volunteer wrangled up to curate the label shows going on. Julie did 4AD and Michele did Feeding Tube lately and there may be other examples.
