Ochre Ogre...yes Mekas was an integral part of the NYC art/music/film fabric for many generations! Haynes dedicates the film to him. He also filmed LOADS of live VU footage at the Dom, Factory and elsewhere - including their first appearance at the psychiatrist convention - all footage is silent 16mm sadly I believe.

Great set so far. Todd Haynes is one of my all-time faves. He was such a gracious guest at the various events I met him at University of North Texas and in Dallas, geez, last century. The split-screens and nonmatching music over vintage footage in the VU movie reminds me of Todd's direction in The Karen Carpenter Story. All you geetar players---- This is the place to get all the correct tabs for everything VU did . Just remember that the key is that you must tune down every string a whole step, so the Guitar is D, A, F, C, G, D

I'd swear I read a thing with Lou where he said people didn't even realize what a loss breaking up the Lennon-McCartney writing partnership was. As a Songwriter - not hard to imagine Lou having that perspective. In the actual 60s when both bands were going concerns - more likely everybody wanted to make claims for their own unique islands... Other things where Lou said Lennon only sometimes seemed relevant as a Writer to him - but one or two things very much so...

“We drink
Or break open
Our veins
Solely to know
Solely to know

The thrill
Of the knowing
Has me
Out of my brain
I want to know
I want to know…”
