A preview of the
inaugural Reel Rhythms World Music Film Festival produced by World Music Institute at Symphony
Space Thalia theatre, Broadway and 95 St in NYC.
Guests: Curator Isabel Soffer and and consultant Akenataa Hammagaadji.
Festival screenings are Saturdays (various times) through May 15 at the Thalia at
Symphony Space, Broadway and 95 St. in Manhattan.
The festival includes films about music or with musical themes as well as commercially-produced musicals from around the world. There's quite a range - everything from The Harder They
Come to Bollywood films to Alan Lomax documentaries, films about Gypsy
music, Middle Eastern music, klezmer, blues, flamenco, African and Latin music,
etc...
