Listener comments!

Avatar 9:29am Lolabelle Pancake:

Welcome Codgergents and Codgerettes! We trust that no one who listens to and enjoys the Old Codger Show is in doubt about their gender. Courtney admires manly men and adores womanly women! Those in between ... well, he doesn't know what to make of you, cannot offer help, and he hopes you reach some satisfactory resolution soon. Until such time, you are welcome to rest on his Quandary Couch, which is located in his Lair of Ambiguity, off to the left of his Peeve Porch, just behind the Sulking Shed.

I've made my choice. Where do I register?

Now this fill in guy is doing the "oooooold codger" thing. I thought we got away from that disrespect.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:02pm rrg:

A friend of Fablio's?
Avatar 7:02pm Mailman Tom:

Must be

I have no doubts about my gender, and do not require any "help" from anyone, thank you!
Avatar 7:03pm Lolabelle Pancake:

"Old" is just a nickname. The Codger is quite young at heart. His knees are a bit aged, tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm Mx. Baba Bee (e/they) ⚧:

The only satisfactory resolution I seek is for folx to stop thinking that one must choose one of two sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...so - did Courtney have any relations with Phil Schaap - or did he consider him a young upstart or generally too close for comfort...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Doug in JC:

Mx. Baba, pretty sure this is a welcoming place for everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Mx. Baba Bee (e/they):

Doug in JC: yeahhh, and that opening comment put a burr under my saddle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...maybe she was an understudy fo Olive Oyl & wanted to break into Major Motion Pictures...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Doug in JC:

Oh, is Courtney being offensive again? sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Beer Drinking Squirrel in Her Closet'
...worth the ticket price right there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Doug in JC:

(he's still cranky about the e-l-e-c-t-i-o-n)
Avatar 7:11pm Seedy:

this is outrageous!
Avatar 7:11pm Lolabelle Pancake:

If you mean Coolidge, yes, Courtney is still disappointed he didn't run for another term
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Mx. Baba Bee (e/they):

Go ahead and read that first post in the chat and tell me if you'd feel welcome if you were nonbinary. I just wanted to hear some music. Bah!
Avatar 7:11pm Hubig Pie:

12 basements and multiple belfries ? That must violate some building code
Avatar 7:12pm Seedy:

this is true.
Avatar 7:13pm Lolabelle Pancake:

I wonder if Floradix is tuned in. Her nephew set up an account on his computer so she can post here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Mx. Baba Bee (e/they) ⚧:

And Lolabelle, I know who you are!
  7:15pm The Butterman:

Too far Lolabelle/Codger. Too far.

Ain't we got fun
Avatar 7:29pm Lolabelle Pancake:

In case you were wondering, we do have a soundtrack from a MMP (major motion picture) on this program's slate. Don't touch that dial!
Avatar 7:30pm Lolabelle Pancake:

No one says that anymore: "Don't touch that dial." Do people even have dials anymore? The poutin' shanty is full of them. So is the bunker.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:32pm ultradamno:

You're lucky if there's tiny buttons on the TV you can't find anymore...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:32pm dale:

i have a can of deoxit so my dials are in the pink.
Avatar 7:33pm Hubig Pie:

Pink champagne pairs well with pork
  7:34pm Glistener MW:

“whores doo-vruh”? XD
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:35pm dale:

i have an 1870s box of peter cooper's gelatin. i resist the urge to make a tasty blancmange with it even though i know it will be top shelf.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:36pm ultradamno:

And car radios are basically touch screens now, sending everything to sillycon valley...that's what this feller on here was saying yesterday.
  7:36pm Glistener MW:

I still have a landline phone with dial, just in case Walter Cronkite ever wants to dial me for dollars, or, vice versa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Meefyt:

I can't find that where that Fats Waller track is from! Anyone?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:39pm ultradamno:

Boop "appropriated" Baby Esther's act.
  7:40pm sofaslim:

my grandson got me that dial app for the touch screen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm WR:

Old Codger tomb stone reads "He Went On Too Long". I've already got it on order.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:46pm rrg:

The claim that Betty Boop is based on Baby Esther is false.

  7:47pm Dave Miss:

Baby Ruth?
Avatar 7:47pm Lolabelle Pancake:

Betty Boop was an ORIGINAL! No one like her. EVAH!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:47pm rrg:

Evah Evah!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:48pm ultradamno:

Anyone else side with the Tom Kats Social Club in this one?
  7:48pm Dave Miss:

Old codger’s tombstone "a connoisseur of marginalia”
Avatar 7:48pm Lolabelle Pancake:

She had her shameless imitators. Like that hussy Annette Hanshaw.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:48pm ultradamno:

Her whole act pilfered, I tell you. The Olivia Rodrigo of her day!
  7:49pm Listener Robert:

Did any of you find that "I don't feel so hot today" DISTURBINGLY "straight" on that sound track? Like it doesn't belong in a cartoon?
Avatar 7:50pm Lolabelle Pancake:

Robert, we do not use the "c-word" around here. It's a Major Motion Picture.
  7:50pm Listener Robert:

Oh, in that case the line wasn't disturbing.
Avatar 7:51pm Lolabelle Pancake:

You may use the abbreviation MMP.
Avatar 7:53pm Mailman Tom:

I recently binged on Flip the Frog cartoons, via YT. Worthwhile entertainment
Avatar 7:53pm Lolabelle Pancake:

Tom: See above!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:54pm ultradamno:

Yeah, also it's ____ The Frog, for legal concerns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Heard Godzilla Skeeronk. Day complete.
  7:56pm Listener Robert:

Is it true that Fleischer commissioned Rossini to score that MMP?
Avatar 7:57pm Lolabelle Pancake:

Yes, Rossini Bodenheim.
Avatar 7:58pm Lolabelle Pancake:

He went by his first name only. Embarrassed by the family notoriety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

LSD - Pounds Shillings & Pence

  7:59pm Glistener MW:

Consarn’ that blasted oak!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

TY As Ever Codger !
  8:23pm Listener Robert:

Darn, it was von Suppe! Which had been my first guess, which I then discounted when I couldn't find it quickly. But even when I looked it up, it was on a collection of Rossini and Suppe.

My ear is tuned to similarities in music, so I mix up the distinctions.
