Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 17, 2021 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

One of the worse conceived parties I djed at, I djed w/ Kid Millions and Talibam! and other bands played. Well, it was an old industrial garage in DUMBO, and got a drunk car, and for a few $$$s, you'd get goggles and gloves, and a sledge hammer and smash up the car. Well, someone forgot to drain the gas from said car, so after midnight we all started to smell gasoline, and had to evacuate everything. (luckily I finished my set (the gif above reminded me of it)>

Thomas, the lead character in Blow Up was based on the photographer David Bailey who documented swinging London in the 1960's. When I worked for him I asked him what happened to The Shrimp - Jean Shrimpton. He told me she had a bed & breakfast somewhere in the sticks. When I showed surprise he told me if she had listened to him, she would be rich beyond all probability.

While I'm certainly not the first to share my opinion, the current Bee Gees doc was very impressive. I learned a lot, as I was never really a fan (anti-disco leanings of my youth). And, yes, the harmonies are very powerful.

That Zimmerman kid played in Bobby Vee's band as "Elston Gunn." History might be different if everyone wanted to be the new Gunn.
