Had one tiny kidney stone I simply expressed answering the call of nature. (An interesting little period relieving oneself thru a strainer to catch it.) & - I tot I was gonna die. If I had simply been told one-to-one that it would hurt like nothing ever & then just be over with - that would have made all the difference. I'd never heard of kidney stones. & my case was about as minor & simple as they get. No ultrasounds or intrusive action required. You @ least know what is happening to you - & are getting medical attention.
...So - what other topics have we missed...

Apropos of the slightest sliver of context: did anybody here watch the 2016 Dirk Gently TV series (adapted of course from some Douglas Adams books)? The absolutely wonderful character Bart Curlish the holistic assassin, as played by Fiona Dourif, had a beautiful kind of Stan-esque way of talking.
