Today: Super cool show of thrift-store/outsider weirdness from the archives of the Archivist.

MARKIE
Avatar 8:04pm
Sonderangebot:

Viv I love LIL MARKIE
  8:05pm
Vivian:

Otis, I now have the CD That has the STUDIO version of Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as well as an 8 tape set of audiobooks called Sugartown.
Avatar 8:06pm
Otis Fodder:

I am so small reading that there is a 8-tape set of Markie, what the hay! Maybe we should have you do a Markie day in Sheena. Ha!
Avatar 8:07pm
Sonderangebot:

If Little Marcy and Lil Markie were in a ring, who would win?
Avatar 8:07pm
Otis Fodder:

This song actually ain't half bad. As I dream of lying in a field looking at the moon.
Avatar 8:07pm
Otis Fodder:

They would duet and fall in love.
  8:07pm
Vivian:

Many have a negative view of Markie. I found his wife's facebook and read her narrative of the last few months of his life. It was very sad, he brought a lot of happiness to his family. I view him in a different light now.
  8:08pm
Vivian:

He was not old either. 55 I think.
Avatar 8:09pm
Otis Fodder:

Nice to read that Viv. 55 is young.
  8:10pm
Vivian:

Another bit of info. Markie did not write I Am So Small.
Avatar 8:11pm
Mr Fab:

"a Markie day in Sheena" I am frightened that this could be a real thing! If anyone could make it happen, it would be the man who co-hosted the 24 hour "Xanadu" marathon.
Avatar 8:11pm
Otis Fodder:

"Yay MySpace" ... what a song title, yesss!

Ha Scott!

I got in touch with Viv through Irwin btw all... as she is a deep deep digger of the private presses in the thrifts and online digging up info.
Avatar 8:16pm
Otis Fodder:

Kitty. This is so good.
  8:16pm
Vivian:

I just bought a tape of a retirement lunch, a wedding, and some keyboard compositions by a person called Castorina.
Avatar 8:16pm
Sonderangebot:

Oh my that sounds promising!
Avatar 8:16pm
Otis Fodder:

Ha, of course you did. You will be back right... playing more songs for us, yes? I hope weekly!
  8:17pm
Vivian:

The Kitty record was an entry in Giro Festival 1982, an Italian music contest. Other young singers were entered as well.
Avatar 8:17pm
Otis Fodder:

Is this Nicole? Don Campau's daughter?
  8:18pm
Vivian:

Nope, this was produced by Don Campau's wife Robin. Nicole was in her 20s by the time Stardust came out.
Avatar 8:19pm
Otis Fodder:

Oh wow, it's so good. I recognize the Lonely Whistle label, used to trade tapes with Don 25+ years back.
  8:19pm
Vivian:

I was 4 going on 5 in 2000, and this song perfectly describes what it was like for me.
Avatar 8:19pm
Otis Fodder:

This show is so awesome, cracking up here and grooving.
  8:21pm

This Pac Man album was officially licensed by Namco. It is one of the weirdest things attached to the Pac Man brand.

Mx. Baba Bee (e/they):

I've been trying to add a comment, however I am stunned by these recordings and unable to think of anything suitable for that set. Hello, Vivian and all!

Wow, 1980...I had no idea and I was I full arcade mode at this time.
Avatar 8:24pm

Ha, Baba! I'm just kinda stunned how catchy that Pac Man tune was: "Pac-Man's Magic Land...Pac-Man's Magic Land..."

This song was on Grossman's third and final album, recorded not too long before his son murdered him. His nephew Luke told me they played this song at his funeral.
Avatar 8:46pm
Mr Fab:

A friend of mine found Rick Grossman's "Hot Romance" in a thrift or bargain bin in the early '90s. I don't even remembering listening to it. We just loved the cover.
