Listener comments!
Well, my random guess generator has led me back where I began, then: the Gambia!
Hope you both are feeling better, @HH
Kate's feeling much better. My fever spiked overnight, which was kind of crappy. Not feeling so great today.
continental wanderers! India!
❓
Though it's hectic, I kind of like when a show on the streams and one on the FM command my attention. Flipping back and forth is like being in the car as a kind and jumping among radio stations back when there were more than one decent radio station!

David, I am looking forward to see what you do for Roud number 9598.
i never knew the bee gees were australian
“The waterholes fill when it rains. You know how you feel when you see rain: ‘Hey, that looks like big rain!’ You see this big rain coming towards you – and go: ‘Ooow!’ Well, the Ngangkaṟi is talking with it, the rain clouds, essentially saying: ‘Make sure you come straight here, rain, in this direction!’ Yes, it is also part of being Ngangkaṟi.”
c'est stanlé direct du canacule Français
Their cover of "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" is pretty great.
not much of an AC/DC fan either, their early stuff is ok. can only stand so much tho
Been cool and foggy, mostly. Good lobster eating weather.
IN college, not long after my dad had died, one of my closest friends from growing up, who was in college a few more stops up the Metro North, got in touch and said we had plans for my birthday, and he would pick me up and we'd head into Manhattan. He just asked that I not look at the Voice or anything. And I didn't! And managed to keep my head down as we went into Irving Plaza and so it wasn't until I saw a poster at the bar there that I realized we were there for Midnight Oil.
That show was insane. Australians in the crowd were telling us it reminded them of the pure punksplosion shows MO had played ten, fifteen years before. So great. A really wonderful gift. I still have the ticket stub.
Thanks, David!
Catch y'all behind the bleachers after school!
She is NOT wrong.

Musically, Barton grew up in both worlds having learned to play didgeridoo from his uncle, an elder of the Waanyi, Lardil and Kalkadunga tribes of western Queensland, while listening to classical music through his mother, Delmae Barton, who is an opera singer. It is no wonder William’s music has blended these two traditions.
When he met and worked with Peter Sculthorpe, one of Australia’s leading classical composers, both men knew they’d come across a kindred spirit. Sculthorpe taught Barton how to write for classical instruments using western notation and Barton helped Sculthorpe to realise his life-long ambition of bringing Aboriginal music into his composition.
this music is perfect.
But (tacky though it is to pimp one's own shows)... if AFTER this excellent journey conducted by David is over you want to take a trip from drumming rhythms in 2018 back through Benny Goodman in 1938 and then into latter-day klezmer performances... there's such a set in here (the second one):
wfmu.org...
Just mentioning it because I enjoyed it myself.

Thanks for a great show, David. We went places.
Fare forward, Voyageurs.
keep cool.
Thanks again, David! (or do I thank you again later too?)
