Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Julie:

Avatar 3:02pm Sylvia:

@Handy sending love and good vibes to K8 and you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Sylvia. We'll take 'em, that's for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm listener james from westwood:

Had not previously heard this track live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm dreamyandseedy:

greetings!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Julie:

Handy is everything okay? Was sorry to miss the show Friday I was beat from my travel :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Julie:

hi dreamy!
Avatar 3:05pm Bas NL:

Hi Julie! All!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Julie:

heya Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Handy Haversack:

The show was great, Julie, but in retrospect scary. We seem to have picked up COVID when exposed the night before at another show in BK. We're OK. Uncomfortable and unhappy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Julie:

OMG I'm so sorry to hear that. I have a friend sick as well, and I'm worried about my dad who just returned from a weeklong party with tummy issues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Julie:

my friend has Asthma, and she's been down for the count since July 5th. Without the vaccine she'd probably be dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Julie.

It is seriously depressing. Very sorry to hear about your friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Working and lurking, Julie, but tuned in. Great stuff, as ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Julie:

hiya S&M&S!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm listener james from westwood:

Yikes, Handy, take excellent care of yourselves, and kindest wishes to your friend, Julie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm David (in London):

Handy, Bas, Sylvia, S&M&S, luka, rich, james, salutations all.
Handy, man, sorry to hear that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Julie:

wow Im glad I didn't go you know I would've been hugging y'all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Julie:

I'm gonna keep hiding at home for a while I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Handy Haversack:

I know, Julie! So far, no one in Kate's band or among our other friends who were there that night has tested positive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Good afternoon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Julie:

what my friend has found is no one around her (all vaxxed) has gotten it. Like she just got it from someone who wasn't but hasn't spread it, due to the vax. God I'm so sorry you're going through this. HIYA RICH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

I thought this Nina Hagen track was a German-language version of Patti Smith's "Ask The Angels" at first!
Avatar 3:29pm Heidee:

Helloooooooo! Nina is calling me :-)
Unbeschreiblich weiblich = undescribably womanly :-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Julie:

hi Mr Nobody!
Avatar 3:31pm Heidee:

Hi Julie! Seeing your playlist, I should have popped in earlier!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm WR:

Hello Julie and all dark night of the soul drummer streamers. The dark times continue, thankful for the fellowship of WFMU. And the music too, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm David (in London):

Heidee, hi, hi, hello flower, how are you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Julie:

well Heidee lots more to come. Hiya WR!!
Avatar 3:38pm Heidee:

Julie, social distancing for nearly two years did something to me too. To everyone, for sure.
After 16 months of homeschooling due to health issues, I have successfully avoided having to go to the school building. Today I had an appointment with the caretaker. I tried to get him at a quieter time. he was late. I hit the full school break. A flock of school kids immersed me. I nearly freaked out.
Avatar 3:38pm Heidee:

Hi David. As I was saying...
  3:39pm chris in the redwoods:

Hello, Julie and folks! Things are indeed weird again, aren’t they? So far so good with my wife and I, but wow!
Handy, hope you and K8 feel great again soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Julie:

hiya Chris!
Avatar 3:42pm Bas NL:

Oh my Handy.. "That's unfair!" was the first that came to mind. Best recovery to you and Kate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, James, David, Bas, chris. Pretty much our reaction, too, honestly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Julie and soul party. You'd think the 5G technology would've alerted you right away that you were near someone infected, Handy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Julie:

hiya Ken!
Avatar 4:08pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

In short: Hey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm adampsyche:

hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Julie:

hiya adam!
Avatar 4:14pm Sylvia:

I really like this already, Deux Filles
Avatar 4:16pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Now, some nitpicking: "Something Must Break" was apparently in raw-ish state, so surviving Joy Division members had to do overdubs etc. in order that song to be released on "Still". Must have been eerie, what with Ian Curtis' death (less than?) two years away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm dreamyandseedy:

julie, have i missed you playing the Dolls record you sent an image of in one of your emails?
Avatar 4:17pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

and yes, this sounds very good, Deux Filles that is, new to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Julie:

no dreamy I haven't played it yet! I had to get another piece to connect my turntable. I may bring it next week if I can make the studio!
  4:20pm Stanley:

hi Julie and my lovely listening friends. greetings from southern France.
Avatar 4:21pm Bas NL:

The shear delight of un-played vinyl.. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Julie:

hey there Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Handy Haversack:

Nice, Stanley!
Avatar 4:26pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

A suggestion for your turntable Julie: the mono reissue of From Genesis To Revelation (unless you have it already). I finally got it, can't say if having a mono mix of that is absolutely essential as I haven't A/B'd it with the stereo one or anything - life is short - but let's say it sounds mighty fine and I'm glad there's an affordable reissue. (yes the original mono will rob you of a four figure sum of money, if I remember correctly)
  4:26pm stanlé:

ow handy. that's rotten. wishing you minor trouble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Handy Haversack:

Merci, Stanlé.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Andrew Hollywood:

Julie - ur show rulz. Garsh bless the archives
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Julie:

yeah I'm not sure which LP version I have of it. Most of my records are still in storage. I think there was a RSD version of it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Julie:

thank you Andrew!!
Avatar 4:28pm Bas NL:

Hi Stanley! Thanks for throwing us into your suitcase!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Andrew Hollywood:

thank YOU
Avatar 4:29pm Hubig Pie:

Only pop song I know with eiderdown in the lyrics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Julie:

haha yeah could be! Hiya Hubig!
  4:32pm stanlé:

hi bas. not a holiday, unfortunately, first trip to my elderly parents in twenty months and after two days dad has been rushed to hospital. good job I am here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Julie:

i feel like there is an olivia song that mentions it mary skeffington maybe?
Avatar 4:34pm Bas NL:

Oww, that's bad, Stanley. Indeed good you are there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm David (in London):

Stanley, Hubig, Cha Cha, wotcha all.
Avatar 4:35pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@4:28 Julie: yes there is a RSD edition, 2014, mine's Repertoire, 2015. I'm not sure but I don't think besides the one I have there is any other single disc version of that mono Genesis after the original release?
Avatar 4:36pm Hubig Pie:

Only one I know, but then I don't know very much. Hiya, Julie, Dil , et al
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Julie:

oh no Stanle so sorry to hear that
  4:38pm stanlé:

hi David. see you've been granted freedom back in ol'blighty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Handy Haversack:

Oh no, Stanlé! Quelle domage! Sorry to hear it.
Avatar 4:39pm Heidee:

David, you're back :-)
Sorry for my rather cool response @3:38, you have been invariably kind. Will chat to you another time though, just about to slide into beddybies...
  4:40pm stanlé:

thanks Julie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Julie:

very worried about my dad ATM too. came back from a weekend long gathering under the weather
  4:42pm stanlé:

thanks handy. taking it a day at a time.
Avatar 4:43pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

It's not for me to say, especially as my UK days are far behind me, but the reopening could be too much too soon (sorry if I offend any of you UK folks with this).
Hang in there stanlé and yes, good you are there, even if not in the best circumstances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm David (in London):

At some stage Julie I think you have to take some time off so that you can do a fill-in for yourself.
  4:49pm stanlé:

thanks cha cha. looks like I'm going to be here longer than planned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Julie:

haha David that was last week! and then I came back to a fill in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Julie:

I need some advice for next week guys! I'm filling in for Doug on July 30th..which happens to be Kate Bush's birthday (Katemas). What should I do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Julie:

It's tempting but I don't think people would dig 3 hours of Kate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Aitch:

Hold that thought Julie
Avatar 5:00pm Bas NL:

Well... Kate Bush fan here, but three hours would indeed be a push? Some 'the best of'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Julie:

maybe like an hour in the middle. and some kate friends and kate like things?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm listener james from westwood:

Final half hour of Kate?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm David (in London):

Julie, if Station Manager Ken can play three hours of Toxic covers, I think you'll be safe with three hours of Kate...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Julie:

she just doesn't have enough albums really. Like I could do that with Kinks or even Elton who has a zillion of them. It IS an early start, should I FINISH with kate?
Avatar 5:02pm Hubig Pie:

Lotsa covers maybe ?
Avatar 5:02pm Sylvia:

oh, nice cover #FreeBritney
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Andrew Hollywood:

Dark Night - proving once again that the 90s were really so very close to as good as the 70s.
  5:08pm stanlé:

I reckon plenty of Kate and lots of Kate friends and contemporaries should do it nicely. looking forward to it. Julie the music has been super since I tuned in. I might drop off listening, so I'll say thanks now to you and everyone here for the support and good wishes. later all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Julie:

thanks Stanley. Hope things improve for your dad <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm David (in London):

adieu stanlé
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Julie:

every era has great music sometimes you just have to hunt harder
Avatar 5:09pm Bas NL:

Good night Stanley.
Avatar 5:09pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Kate Bush has her albums, b-sides + lots of rarities. Three hours of Kate is not a bad idea. I mean,a wfmu three hour slot was once dedicated to Bob Dylan's 18 minute track played 10 times or so. The name of the track escapes me let alone the show's name,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Julie:

yeah I think I remember that happening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Julie:

But they do that stuff to be "ironic" yanno
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm David (in London):

Plus Peter Gabriel collaborations. It's all fair game...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

@Hollywood - Agree because the 70s had ABBA and the 90s didn’t
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Andrew Hollywood:

Rich - yup!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Julie:

hey some of us LIKE Abba
Avatar 5:15pm Bas NL:

ABBA has my vote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

And there are some, like me, who love ABBA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Julie:

In honor of Kate Bush's birthday I will now play 3 hours of Abba
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Andrew Hollywood:

everyone LOVES ABBA - some just don't know it yet
Avatar 5:17pm Bas NL:

There's a superb museum in Split in Croatia which has thousands of frogs posed into dioramas like 'A Tea Party', 'Sports Day', 'At the Bank' and so on. It's an absolute hoot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Julie:

Split in Croatia sounds like a band name

Grudging respect for the greatness of Take on Me as a pop song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Julie:

there is art to a great pop song (see Abba again)
Avatar 5:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wonder if there's a word for that kinda scenario taxidermy...
Only problem with 'Take On Me' is overexposure. ...Well - it leans pretty heavy on that phrase...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Aitch:

Skandis do great pop.

Alright...starting off with a BIG BANG! Genesis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Handy Haversack:

Just right up until recently, all was without form, and void.
  6:05pm Mr. Nobody:

Yessss
Avatar 6:06pm BillyLundun:

Fun Genesis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Julie:

hi there Billy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

This is sounding like a flashback to my college radio show from 1986. Live versions were tougher to find back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Please don't play anything from Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Centre of the Earth or I'm going to get stuck in a really bad trip
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Julie:

haha no wakeman here
Avatar 6:08pm BillyLundun:

yallo! Julie!
Avatar 6:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not a band messing around for Sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Julie:

nice cockatiel Billy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm listener james from westwood:

Ooh, live Renaissance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Julie:

I found this 2-LP set for like a buck at the WFMU table one record fair year. such a find
  6:12pm chris in the redwoods:

So good! Thanks for a great show, Julie! Gotta run in a bit, so wanted to say that now.
Take good care, all, and best wishes all around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Julie:

Avatar 6:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Moodys ftw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm David (in London):

That Moody Blues cover is an absolute doozy. What says Live at the Albert Hall better than a massive fish?

Any road up, gotta crash now. Thanks Julie and good night groovers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Julie:

nite David thanks for listening!

Peak Moodies her. Mike Pinder and his glorious Mellotrons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Julie. We did our first ever grocery delivery order. We forgot only the soda. Fortunately, I had stocked up on rum over the weekend. If only I felt like having a drink ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Julie:

I tend to hit the whiskey when throat and lungs act up. But of course there's too sick to drink as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Handy Haversack:

Fairly well stocked on whisky, rye, rum, gin, and weird cordials and liqueurs. Just not really feeling the urge, which is NOT typical!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

It’s STAR city for me on this power hour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Handy Haversack:

Was looking forward to making my first Corn 'n' Oil ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Julie:

I don't have very many live albums, the ones I have are people I adore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Julie:

what's a corn n oil?
Avatar 6:37pm Bas NL:

Such great music, by Kate Bush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Julie:

I always wanted to do what Spazz does and do like a 3 hour "concert" from live songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Handy Haversack:

Dark or añejo rum, Velvet Falernum, lime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Julie:

I fell madly in love with Bacardi Torched Cherry Rum only to finish my bottle and find out they don't make it anymore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Handy Haversack:

You'll have to re-create it! Rum, cherry brandy, kirschwasser, liquid smoke ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Julie:

OMG it was so good.
Avatar 6:41pm Bas NL:

Liquid smoke?
Avatar 6:41pm BillyLundun:

yep you add it to just about anything to add a smoke flavour
Avatar 6:42pm BillyLundun:

how is there not a band called liquid smoke?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks for the tunes and the kindness, Julie, and to all of you.

Never saw LC either. Last tour was $200 a pop, and that was not doable.

You can keep on listening to the stream, and there I'll be . . . (though I can't figure out how to listen in real time, so the transition may not be all that)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Julie:
