Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Good morning! I'm ready for a little Hinky Dinky.

Sammy Davis Jr. might very well be the most talented entertainer of the 20th century. He acted, sang, did impressions, performed several instruments and was among the best in all those fields.

Is there anything other than skeletal rest and caution prescribed for pelvic fracture? Aside from meds, I mean. Anything done initially? And then anything attached for immobilizing? Or is applying shit not applicable?

This "In The Still of the Night" is great. It's like the vocalists are friends having drinks around the piano.

John Candy was one of three actors selected to play Ignatius P. Reilly in film versions of Confederacy of Dunces (that never made it to production) who died while the film was in development. John Belushi and Chris Farley were the other two.

Hello Uncle, hope you are getting better.
Been sidetracked by a poorly chicken, sad to say a late one now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Uncle Michael:

I have to have forgotten that. I can't have never known.
Avatar 2:15pm Hubig Pie:

Chicha is is the spit-take drink, yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Uncle Michael:

Sorry to hear that, BiUK.
Avatar 2:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Condolences Brian in UK.

Strawbs are phenomenal
Avatar 2:20pm spodiodi:

lo siento, Brian in UK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Alvy Singer:

Strawbs took a step forward away from folk rock and into a more progressive rock sound on Grave New World.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Phillippe:

sorry to hear that BiUK
Avatar 2:20pm spodiodi:

love this album title, and the music too
Avatar 2:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Never crossed paths with a Strawbs recording hardcopy - but everything played for me just makes me regard them more...

"Dumping out the junk drawer" is a good dance move.

Had to double check to see if this was one of the versions of Telstar from Mr. Mike's Mondo Video...

Avatar 2:28pm still b/p:

I'm sure there's a video out there:
"The bride thought it was going to be the ordinary father-daughter dance at her wedding, then he dumped out the junk drawer!"

Today is 10th anniversary of Amy Winehouse's passing. Any chance she might slip into this final set?

I know all the gloomy facts today.
  2:34pm Andres:

The beginnings of a great noise track nipped in the bud.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Brian in UK:

Thanks for your thoughts. This was a re-homed bird, people want the eggs and meat but do not give a shit about the conditions they are kept in. Cheap food does have a price. (end of rant!!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Uncle Michael:

Well, no noise is good noise...and no Amy is just poor planning.
  2:35pm dan:

Tie Your Mother Down was played at my sister's wedding as the party came into the venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Uncle Michael:

gonna find out if the "noise" track will cooperate right after Queen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Phillippe:

That's hilarious, dan!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Phillippe:

This is one of those covers that makes me wonder what the songwriter thinks about it. No judgment, its just such a different interpretation.

Anyone have Nick Lowe on speed dial?
Avatar 2:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Nick was interviewed on Michael Shelley's (not Todd's Im pretty sure) - & I think he wrote looking @ hippies losing religion (as it were) in the early 70s - half sympathetically but mostly ironically... He said Elvis's version was a surprise. Myself love the tension of form (aggressive) & content (peace-loving) of Elvis's version... The whole Hippie / Punk thing kinda pivots right there...&tc. ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Alvy Singer:

Today's show is freeform radio at its finest. Well done Uncle Michael.
Avatar 2:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Interesting, Rev. Was that recent? I'll have to mine the archives and listen. I've always been a Nick Lowe fan

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Doug from Maine:

Love is too weak a word for how Alvy Singer feels about this show. He luurves it. No, he loaves it. No, he luffs it, with two Fs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Phillippe:

Thanks for a fun show, UM! I'm glad you are feeling better!

Not to take away from the great programming on the Drummer Stream and the mothership, but if you guys ever wanted to explore the Rock and Soul stream, late Friday afternoon and evening is the time to do it. Belock, medson, Terre T, and Zoey Lynne all have great programs on today (don't yell at me Doug)

@Phillippe
I'll hardly yell. There is plenty of cross-stream love going on around here. (So much so that a current R&S show will likely be joining the Drummer Stream sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. Sorry. No spoilers.)
