Ha, nice, winston!

Joe, after this New Order record, though, those frogs had to stoop to working for Budweiser just to maintain the hedonistic showbiz lifestyle they'd grown accustomed to. The Behind the Music episode on it is kind of tragic.

@spodi a little fishing, boat is sitting at the pier with locked-up steering, lord knows when/how to fix it. There's a saying around here, boats are cheap, working boats are not. I bought a cheap boat...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Handy Haversack:

Weekend ... yes, I think I recall something of the sort. It was pretty good. Kate had a great gig on Friday. We managed to accomplish some tasks and hear a friend (and WFMU listener!) spin on Sat. And then Sunday Sundayed. Hoping the weather holds and we get out on the river this afternoon.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Phillippe:

sounds fun, handy! say hi to the fishes for me! Speaking of fishes, the estuary tank is going well. Had to release a few aggressive fishes into the wild. One was kind of confused and essentially stayed where I dropped it in for about 20 minutes. Also had to release the crab -- once he sloughed, he supersized and decided to hunt instead of wait for fish to get too close by. Lost three fish to him in two days.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Phillippe:

If I still have problems, I'll fly you out, spodi! The guy who had it before me severely neglected it and I suspect there's something rusted or broken where the motor pivots. He had docked it with the motor down and then didn't operate it for a couple years. Barnacles on the prop when I got it, that kind of neglect. First world problems though, so I'm not actually complaining, just informing (that's what I tell my bride when she says I complain too much. There's truth in my avatar...)

sounds good, Phillippe. the only boat's steering i've ever really touched was so old and simple that it was pretty much just ropes and pulleys (boat was prob from the 50s; this was in the 80s.) the boat would later catch fire during a water skiing outing

(and what you added at the end in parentheses is so familiar that i had to lol) cheers :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am The Oscar:

This feels too good to be true, but I heard once that Riz Ortolani, the writer of More, was so horrified by the movie that he swore never to score another horror or genre movie. In the late '70s, an Italian director sent him a gushy fan letter begging him to score his new movie, and he reluctantly agreed. The movie turned out to be Cannibal Holocaust, one of the most notoriously gruesome films ever made. (Ortolani's score is lovely, though!)

Avatar 10:49am Jeff in Brooklyn:

Hey Joe! The random feel of the transitions is like putting on a stack of 45's. I am sure audio purists would have been appalled at the stack and the different angle of the stylus as the played stack grew

  10:57am miniteeny:

Oh - is Elvis ok?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am Kevin / Ringwood / UK:

Oh yes, the man himself, Mr Wyatt. Superior in every way to the Costello version.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am McGroovey:

Elvis is in ttraction.

I never heard that Town Cryer before. I love when he totally changes it up

Avatar 10:58am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Skeeter? I hardly knew her.
Elvis got hit by lightning & now all his albums are being redone en Esapnol. Not a bad development I think...

Shipbuilding is a classic.

I remember at the time, 1982, almost no one was talking this way about the Falklands conflict. It was hard to be anti-war.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Mike Sin:

Shipwrecking at the shore while singing along to singles going steady. Hoping the sun makes a big breakout.
  10:59am Jett:

@JoeMcG Robert Wyatt really owns "Shipbuilding" far superior to the songwriter version.

That was a great Single-File, Joe - even if it did give me a little bit of decade-whiplash

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Handy Haversack:
