Fun and confusing, clarke. And the pandemic and Uber have destroyed taxis, so getting around late at night is ... complex. And of course the city and state, with a year of very limited ridership, have waited till now to start doing work on a bunch of subway lines. Greed and incompetence continue to carry the day, but the music sure sounds good!

gosh, must be weird (and difficult) with no cabs just going up and down and across.

The Lower East Side was like nothing I have ever seen -- thousands and thousands of 20-somethings queued up to get into clubs, the cops boxing them into club zones, hundreds trying to get cars. The ride-share things were apparently charging $100 just to cross the bridge to NW Brooklyn.

They wrote a book about it, said it was like ancient Rome.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 11:24am Hoboken Jack:

Taxis will make a comeback as hedge-fund investing incentives have dried up for Uber, Airbnb, food delivery services, etc, causing prices to rise and rise.

Hello Baby
  11:28am clarke:

oh it's MovieTime!!
re=saw Body Heat (TCM has modern noir on fridays, which is COOL) - Body Heat stands up rather nicely especially being from the 80's!
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:31am Dennis Diken:

hey Jack!
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:32am Dennis Diken:

Interestingly, The Rip Chords (nee The Opposites) were a real group that Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston produced and eventually lead (vocally) in the studio. There’s info on Wikipedia. The original members can be heard singing lead on one or more cuts on the Hey Little Cobra LP.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 11:32am Hoboken Jack:

I DVR'd Body Heat last night and am excited to watch it!
  11:33am clarke:

well, jack it is pretty great to see after many years. i will give you a tidbit to look for - or a few, if you want them beforehand?
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 11:37am Montmaster J:

re: Body Heat. Mickey Rourke incredible in his scene-really gets your attention- and Ted Dansen is also good. Great movie.
  11:38am clarke:

yeah, i didn't think it would stand up that well.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 11:40am Hoboken Jack:

Clarke I'll take one tidbit, thanks!

Like to hear Roky Erickson singing 'Shoe Me' here...
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:40am Dennis Diken:

i think Billy Lee Riley played harmonica on the Beach Boys Today! version of "Help Me Ronda" (as it was spelled on that LP cover!)

  11:42am clarke:

ok: i didn't know this until last night: the whole movie is supposed to be during a heat wave in south florida, but ironically, the time they FILMED the scenes, there was a cold front that was stuck over florida, so all the sweat is fake.

Clarke! How long is that all-time list of yours?
  11:54am clarke:

EDDY MATe!!
  11:54am Peter:

Re Body Heat - it was so cold out in the scene where Ned first meets Matty, the cast had to suck on ice-cubes in order for their breath not to show on camera.

Ted Danson, when asked about the film, said it was storyboarded so precisely, a high-school could make the movie, and if they followed the instructions, it would come out exactly the same.
