A little housekeeping… while the focus of this show is the conclusion of the Bantams’ story, I have a guest coming over this afternoon and I’m wondering if I should harangue him into the chatroom during another part of the show.

Brian Chidester has just produced an amazing exotica LP with the Swedish band Ixtahuele on the works of songwriter/artist Eden Ahbez (“Nature Boy”). He’s got a doc coming out on this enigmatic character, too. It’s a lot to go into, but you may have heard him on Gaylord’s show two weeks ago. The chat was really hoppin’! Hi David... no pre-Cole recordings of it that have been discovered so far. There are some demos of other Ahbez songs that pre-date "Nature Boy" however. There is also a sheet music booklet of "NB" from 1946 which has the song in a primitive state---i.e. diff. lyrics, slightly different chords, very much in its germinative state. And the song was plucked by Cole from a six-part "NB Suite."
