Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm annie:

since i moved to asheville 10 years ago, i've never had complaint for the weather, it IS nc, right? but about 4 years ago our weather pattern changed. when may showed up we'd have heavy downpours of rain around 3-4 ish, then all would be well for the rest of the day. last few years, we haven't had those predictable pm rains... i sure miss them..yes, climate change is real.

Oh yeah, it's summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm mariano:

annie: That's troubling, sorry to hear. I've always heard great things about Asheville. I'm in New Orleans, and summer is also our rainy/hurricane season. The heat and humidity are miserable, but the tropical downpours are really a sight to behold and they cool things down a bit. Always makes me think of Mickey Rourke sprinting through Jackson Square in the pouring rain at the end of Angel Heart, lol.

Same here, annie, always had a soft spot for Angel Heart. Alan Parker hired local actors for most of the supporting and bit parts, and it really does capture something of the dank atmosphere here.

The heat here in NYC is so atrocious today (continuing from yesterday).
Making the most of being stuck in this cell box, with the AC on, listening on the portable Bose speaker, reclined on the couch reading my first Don DeLillo novel, sipping chicory coffee, kids playing on the floor.
It’s not so bad, really. But summers are to be enjoyed outside. This weather makes that virtually impossible. At least we’ll get some things done around the apartment, not the least of which is some reading.

@TonyR I’m quite digging the non-acidic/no caffeine chicory coffee these days. Helps with GERD. Nice substitute. Sometimes mix it with espresso if I want that lift.
But if you like cold stuff brew some chicory, let cool and take out the blender. Add some banana (frozen is even better), a couple of ice cubes, some almond milk, a splash of bitters, and if you really want to get funky some carob powder.
Cutting down on caffeine and acid ain’t gotta be boring!
And speaking of N’awlins that’s where the coffee substitute originates in this country.

Not doing Disney Plus to watch the Get Back movie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm spodiodi:

haven't heard about the Get Back project
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah - 'Get Back' - three 2 hour parts on Disney+ around Thanksgiving... instead of Theaters. Reception for this has been mixed. But that's a lot of actual Beatles material we haven't pored over already for more than half a century.
Avatar 2:09pm TonyR:

If you can watch all 3 parts in one month, why not? I subbed to D+ for one month to see "Hamilton". There are no side-benefits to Disney+ membership. Their non-bait content is execrable. I couldn't find one thing to watch besides "Hamilton". Quickly unsubbed.
Avatar 2:10pm Joe B:

mixed? I'll take four more hours. theaters could have mean another watered down projedct like the ron howard movie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's only $8 they say... Cheaper than the Theater.
Avatar 2:10pm TonyR:

Worth it to see John and Paul singing "Two of Us" to each other through snarls and gritted teeth. LOLz!!!
Avatar 2:11pm Joe B:

it is $8. then cancel it. cheaper than a theater
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Woo:

OK. I'll do that. Thanks. I've hated Disney for so long that I don't even remember why anymore.
Avatar 2:12pm John L:

Woo: I feel the same way; I'd as soon spend money on the actual disc when it is released. The initial articles said they were going to include the original Let It Be in the eventual home release, but I read that over a year ago. It also seems like something I'd watch more than once. I revisited the Anthology box set a couple of years ago, so I'm happy I held on to that dvd box set.

  2:13pm SeanG:

i'm with you Joe B, that ron howard thing sucked

Avatar 2:14pm Joe B:

  2:14pm BillD:

Thanks for playing that George track. It's so great , yet on Lethal Weapon soundtrack. Not fair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Legend of course immediately became it's them breaking up onscreen. But they didn't break up then - Abbey Road was recorded later in 1969, but 'Let It Be' came out last. It was only a few weeks in Janurary '69 - this project to fit an album coming together with a climax of a Live performance. This Jackson project is from 60 hours of footage that was filmed then - no talking heads reportedly. & tag is that it shows a much more balanced atmosphere than them hating & being glum.
There will absolutely be Boxes to buy unless they've all slipped into another universe as yet unknown to this one.
