"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

I have a pond paddler too w spray skirt .The Prime Hook Refuge is a great paddle. Launch from the trailer park next to the liquor store at Waple Mills Pond, paddle 7 miles to dock then return. From the Refuge its 5 miles of boring mud flats instead of beautiful forest

"20th century music" is good , if its good. Lots is boring intellectualism at its worse. Like any music, it needs interesting turns and passion. I like this.

@Ken @10:32, thank you hun!
Avatar 👻 10:45am

TerrDE: Rudy Van Gelder (who made some of my favorite jazz recordings) was known for using multiple mikes and placing them in unconventional ways. Of course you have to have a good room too, which he did.

Yeti, yeah more mikes is fine, I m just against adding reverb just because the engineer has one. the one mike applies to 50s Country thst I used to listen to on NPR.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Perhaps? Recording is like Cooking.
The most important things are knowing what tastes good - & actually watching it to make sure it's coming out right. The rest is Technical - which is essential - but won't make it good on its own... & otherwise anything goes. But Simpler might have a better chance of being Good?
Avatar 10:55am

@rev - If you haven't, you might check out the CIMP label. Everything is live to two tracks, no compression, etc. Plus they recorded some fantastic players. Sadly, I think they may now be defunct..
