I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist and I am doing lots of Trauma Work using EMDR and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Its a very busy time for me and I really value using these modalities in an integrated way. Much success in this crazy time!

Its coming to more light and I do think people are seeing limitations of certain therapies, and are now trying new/doing combo-talk-therapy with other approaches. Its exciting times. I spend a lot of time encouraging my students to take care of themselves and talk to other people about how they're feeling...this pandemic had taken a real toll on all of us, but jeez, I'm extra-worried about the kids. Next school year is gonna be joyous but also a rough transition...lots to heal.

	4:01pm cal: A.Lou. Thank you so much. Great to be acknowledged. Doing this work has been so exciting and has made my practice so alive. I see people actually transform and get past their early and present traumas. It brings me such satisfaction at this point in my career.
	4:01pm djsheilab: bore—Hopefully once they legalize therpeutic MDMA, a lot of traumatized vets (many who end up homeless) will get the treatment they so desperately need.
	4:01pm headcleaner: If not therapy per se, then some form of 'deliberate practice' (philosophy, meditation) or at least an active interest in modern psychoanalytic concepts (taken with as much salt a you like) seems necessary for maintaining one's sanity figuring out this whole "life" thing. One of the key realizations that helped was -- well I may or not be "broken", but modern social roles and systems most definitely are (especially as regards work, status, and the perceived need to appear happy and well adjusted at all times). The "game" is definitely rigged in other words... and the only way to win is "not to play".

We as a family, have been trying to help as many friends of ours that still cannot come away from this psychologically. The demands of an over formalised academic curriculum means kids in the U.K. are getting less time to regulate and be mindful, tough for all kids but more so for those who have experienced what kids shouldn’t have had to experience

Lou: This is a great conversation that is alighting my heart! and lastly 2 @bore - I'm glad you mentioned homelessness because I specifically/exclusively work with the homeless folks in my city. Their issues are very complex and require beyond the usual individualized outpatient treatment. It is Social Trauma - and a Social Problem we all share in helping to figure out. Many challenges in their lives are dictated by their socio-economic status, lack of resources, effects of institutional racism. I'm super focused on solutions so Excuse my mini soc. worker spurts! We need to see the probs clearly but also be focused on the future and new ways to adapt and cope.

	4:01pm cal: A.Lou. Thank you so much. Great to be acknowledged. Doing this work has been so exciting and has made my practice so alive. I see people actually transform and get past their early and present traumas. It brings me such satisfaction at this point in my career.
	4:01pm djsheilab: bore—Hopefully once they legalize therpeutic MDMA, a lot of traumatized vets (many who end up homeless) will get the treatment they so desperately need.
	4:01pm headcleaner: If not therapy per se, then some form of 'deliberate practice' (philosophy, meditation) or at least an active interest in modern psychoanalytic concepts (taken with as much salt a you like) seems necessary for maintaining one's sanity figuring out this whole "life" thing. One of the key realizations that helped was -- well I may or not be "broken", but modern social roles and systems most definitely are (especially as regards work, status, and the perceived need to appear happy and well adjusted at all times). The "game" is definitely rigged in other words... and the only way to win is "not to play".

The demands of an over formalised academic curriculum means kids in the U.K. are getting less time to regulate and be mindful, tough for all kids but more so for those who have experienced what kids shouldn’t have had to experience

Lou: This is a great conversation that is alighting my heart! and lastly 2 @bore - I'm glad you mentioned homelessness because I specifically/exclusively work with the homeless folks in my city. Their issues are very complex and require beyond the usual individualized outpatient treatment. It is Social Trauma - and a Social Problem we all share in helping to figure out. Many challenges in their lives are dictated by their socio-economic status, lack of resources, effects of institutional racism. I'm super focused on solutions so Excuse my mini soc. worker spurts! We need to see the probs clearly but also be focused on the future and new ways to adapt and cope.
