  9:22pm JT:

Good evening, Friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Franco Twinkie:

I love Hooteroll? As sixteen year old it was a revelation. It was an early glimpse that there was more to Jerry Garcia than the straight jacket he wore in the dead.
Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Bruce S.:

Jerry's solo work is just as good as his dead stuff
  9:28pm pL:

This is the same Simmons as Sonny Simmons pretty sure. Hard jazz.
Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Bruce S.:

I was listening to Free Jazz by ornette Coleman it sounds better then ever' what a monumental piece of work that is.
  9:29pm Andy Sapiro:

who's the drummer ?
  9:32pm Lyle:

Clifford Jarvis - drums
  9:33pm Andy Sapiro:

very nice
  9:33pm pL:

Sun Ra's drummer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm DonJuanTijuana:

Diggin the bass riffs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Franco Twinkie:

I saw Ornette when he did Primetime at the Westwood Playhouse. Flanked by two bass players and two drummers with him in the middle on the set of what looked like a living room in a sitcom. It was like a whacky dream, but it was real!
Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Ira:

pL, yes -- Huey = Sonny.
Avatar 9:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Just wonderful.
Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Bruce S.:

Franco sounds like a wild show
  9:35pm Lyle:

i knew Mr. Jarvis through Jackie McLean

Right Now!
  9:35pm JT:

I recently learned that Ornette and King Curtis were classmates. That’s pretty cool.
Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Bruce S.:

Wow I wonder if they ever played together
  9:37pm Michael Shore:

Lyle check out Clifford Jarvis on Sun Ra's "Nothing Is" LP. Smokin'!

  9:42pm georgia:

Oh happy birthday Carla! Love her!
  9:43pm Libby’s Mom:

Please give those Jerry solo records a listen!
  9:43pm Michael Shore:

Carla Bley was once a cigarette girl at Birdland. That is the greatest pre-fame credit I think I ever saw for anyone, ever.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Franco Twinkie:

Libby's Mom, Hooterroll? was bookended with that first solo Garcia album. As a matter of fact, I have to go to the store right now and I think Birdsong is going to the pick to click.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Franco Twinkie:

My sister went to see The Animals in 1968 during the height of the war in Vietnam. She said when they did Sky Pilot there were movies of soldiers dying in the jungle mixed in with all the pulsating blobs of salad oil in the light show.
  9:56pm BenZ WPB:

This show is kicking ass

Greetings, Ira and Phyla!
  10:05pm headcleaner:

I actually got to see Donovan "open" for Einstürzende Neubauten, back in '18 (well, this a festival-type event in which EN were the headliner and many acts played.. but Donovan did come on right before Blixa & co)
Avatar 10:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not sure how long Alan Price stuck around ...always heard he had writing credit for Rising Sun & made bucks & they all resented it ! Hence him hanging solo w/ Dylan in 'Don't Look Back' for instance ?? Did good stuff under his own name...
headcleaner love that kinda stuff !

Avatar 11:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not a Hit band - an underground Live band that was surrounded by acid & drugs... UK bands often are concerned with just disappearing in the giant landscape of the USA on tour...

This may very well be my favorite show you've done since taking over the midnight-3 slot last summer. I've missed a few here and there, and the one you closed with Frankie Crisp rivals it closely (I wanna say back in October/November) but someone's gotta say it: this has been a masterpiece on the 3-hour free-form radio canvas! Thank you and good night!
