CC! Blastards!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Yo Creamo!
Avatar 3:03pm TDK60:

Good afternoon DJ CC. Is this the clear-your-ears-out workshop I heard about?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Oh weird. I honestly thought this was US Maple.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Jason from Houston:

Another side of Keiji Haino.
  3:04pm The Butterman:

I’ll take mine with Creamo, no sugar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Keiji's got some John Brannon howl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Threemoons:

CREAMO! BLASTARDS!
  3:10pm Marie:

this would be so great live
  3:10pm YRUdoinths2me:

finally some passionate music lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm ultradamno:

Someone needs to reissue the Live In The First Year Of Heisei albums. I got mine, but from the looks of it on discogs, they aren't easy to come by
Avatar 3:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Definitely not smoking the same cigarettes as me.
  3:10pm The Butterman:

Someone get this guy some satisfaction, stat!
  3:12pm bukowski.:

damn that rocked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Handy Haversack:

Creamo and the Blasterererererererseseses!

That was some goooooooooood Stones!
  3:12pm YRUdoinths2me:

Keiji needs to just get on everybody's tour and hop on stage with that number mid-show and break everything
  3:13pm ami ad:

Hello DJ. Hello all.
Avatar 3:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

👏
Avatar 3:13pm TDK60:

I wonder if Keith Richard would dig that cut.
  3:14pm Marie:

Imagine what Arby's could do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm ultradamno:

Keef would be cool but would claim the Stones did that sound in outtakes of Satanic Majesties or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Marie - There was an Arby's know as Rock'n'Roll Arby's in Springfield Illinopis that had shows. I never went. It was more of a scene for "the kids" which is cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm paddy in matawan:

what a sound
  3:19pm Marie:

Hey Tim, that sounds like fun. I bet LA has a lot of stuff like that. Those spaces could be really cool and they have a lot of parking, especially like abandoned, defunct ones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm ChukAmok:

Another failed opportunity for the Arby's corporation was not including space for DIY shows in their franchises. What a bunch of meat heads.
Avatar 3:20pm Ajay from Krommenie / NL:

hallo to the Nation of Coyl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm ultradamno:

I don't think I've seen anything at a big chain, but I've seen Scratch Acid at a BBQ place, a bunch of bands including Zero Boys at a pizza place, and then there's Sudsy Malones, the rnr laundromat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm tim from champaign (now washington):

There's an abandoned Sizzler around the corner from my work. That would be a cool DIY show space.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm tim from champaign (now washington):

IS this the response song to The Rezillos My Baby Does Good Sculptures?
Avatar 3:26pm TDK60:

Once went to a h/c show in Dayton. A black bar with a banquet room in the back. They had shows.
  3:26pm Marie:

One of the coolest spaces I've seen a show in was a basement of an art gallery in Chicago and the floor was unfinished and they had a stage that was basically cement and the stage/band and audience were separated by a chain link fence--and there was this blistering punk rock band performing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm paddy in matawan:

@marie, like a dirt floor?!
  3:27pm Marie:

I gotta focus on work now, cheers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm ChukAmok:

I played a show at an Ethiopian restaurant in D.C. once.
  3:28pm Marie:

@ Paddy--yeah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm paddy in matawan:

Nice. Get back to work now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm ultradamno:

I saw Flying Luttenbachers at an art gallery in Chicago, maybe the same place?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Shows in non-traditional settings usually make for the best shows.

@ChukAmok - I would have gladly been paid in Ethiopian food instead of cash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm ultradamno:

I remember no fence, maybe just for punks
  3:29pm Marie:

@)--gotta bring home the bacon--hey Ultra, I'll google images of them and check it out.... hm
Avatar 3:29pm TDK60:

Once played a gig in a chemical factory yard, on a loading dock. Weird. Pipes and vents going every which way. A kid had a dad who gave him the key. Why I know not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm ChukAmok:

Oh, and they used to have regular shows at Dahlak in Philly...I wonder why the only restaurants I have played in were Ethiopian? Not complaining. Love that cuisine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm bukowski.:

this is like nails on a chalkboard, but good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm ultradamno:

Then there's clothing stores and church basements, I've seen bands in a few of those.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm paddy in matawan:

All these places probably smelled better than Tradewinds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm ChukAmok:

@TDK That factory show sounds ripe for greatness. Sometimes you just have to play the building.
Avatar 3:36pm Creamo Coyl:

Hey y'all

Thx fer lsisItteteteheiemnnnnn
Avatar 3:36pm winston legthigh:

if its too loud your not old.
howdy creamo, blastardos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi. I am listeninining!
Avatar 3:37pm Creamo Coyl:

Played an Ethiopian resto in Toronto
Avatar 3:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

John Cage Against the Machine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@winston - that's my motto too. If it's too loud, you're too young.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Rob (Jerzcity):

@ChukAmok - I wasn't quite sure, but your previous Ethiopian comment made me think of philly, and then the Dahlak comment confirmed it. Good times
Avatar 3:42pm winston legthigh:

ear drums dont last forever, tinnitus be damned!
Avatar 3:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Seriously my Marshall only has *one speaker*. How can it be causing me damage & pain - ?!??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Rob (Jerzcity):

And based on Marie's comment about the unfinished basement, I went down a rabbit hole of trying to find the venue in brooklyn where lightning bolt just set up in the very middle of the place - I thought it was called black cat? around the corner from a taco loco (or burrito loco)? Another show lost in the fog. Sound familiar to anyone? this was early 2000's i guess
  3:46pm Marie:

"emergency peanut"--I love it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Handy Haversack:

Rob, the Monkey Bar place?

There was also for a while a glassblowing studio in BK that had shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm ChukAmok:

Dahlak was, and probably still is, so good! So is Abyssinia on 45th & Locust (their live music was strictly traditional, to my recollection).
Avatar 3:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Dahlek I Love You
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm ChukAmok:

Monkey Bar sounds very familiar. Wasn't it called something else before then though? Man, my memories of the early aughts is inexcusably hazy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Doug in JC:

We played a warehouse in Philly maybe? Half the room was pallets of Jehri Curl. People climbing all over them
Avatar 3:49pm TDK60:

I played a gig at a pizzeria in Columbus. On High St. The many other clubs on High must've been booked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Doug in JC:

I played at the Asbury Park Howard Johnson's once. That was really fun
  3:52pm Marie:

I've gotta comment on the dog sound--how come there isn't more of that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Rob (Jerzcity):

@Handy - all I can say is maybe?

@ChukAmok - seriously (re: hazy). I have snapshots of memories from inside the venue: long, narrow, lightning bolt set up in the middle of the floor, yellowish/orangish lighting....then a burrito from somewhere around the corner (or two). Oof.

Pretty much every show I saw at North Six is all jumbled together into one at this point.
Avatar 3:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Marie: Have some wooovz :

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Handy Haversack:

My memories of time and place also totally shambolic, Rob.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Jason from Houston:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm ChukAmok:

Lightning Bolt played at my friends loft in DUMBO a couple times in the late '90's/early '00's. That was a great space, and around the corner from the DUMBA Collective.
  4:00pm The Butterman:

Was that the Allman bro’s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@The Butterman - Nope. Marshall Tucker.
  4:03pm Evan Stanhope:

OK it was driving me crazy for a second there but I think I just figured out that the Typewriter track you actually played was called "Cutting Board" not "Battery Life" from the same release. Am I right?
  4:03pm The Butterman:

Saw Brian Chippendale play at various early mid nineties parties in Providence during our rip roaring college days at RISD. Plenty of mayhem
Avatar 4:05pm Creamo Coyl:

@Evan
Maybe! Files could be mislabeled. There is a song called that on there, I'll check when I get a sec.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm sandysnuggs:

  4:05pm Marie:

Ur killin' it, Creamo--great show

Avatar 4:07pm TDK60:

Howard Johnson's doesn't exist anymore, right?
  4:07pm Marie:

Hey RR63, that is so cool. I think wolves deserve as much as love as any creature--they have such a bad rep--they're just trying to survive. And their sounds are amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm ultradamno:

There is apparently one left at Lake George www.tripadvisor.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Watch out for the big F-bomb, Creamo!
Avatar 4:10pm Creamo Coyl:

You think I don't know this song??!?
  4:13pm Marie:

Hey Ultradamno, that band I saw behind a chain link fence was def. not the Flying Luttenbachers, the band I saw had a really intense lead singer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm ultradamno:

I didn't think it was the same show, but possibly the same space.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm tim from champaign (now washington):

hahahahaha! What was I thinking, Creamo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Barney Grubbs:

What the race now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm ultradamno:

Why would you trash the 'nati? Doesn't it look inviting? twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Jason from Houston:

LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Wild Angels
Avatar 4:20pm Marco Esquandolas:

I live near Cincinatti. We refer to it as the 'nasti
Avatar 4:23pm Marco Esquandolas:

Go Bengals!
Avatar 4:23pm Creamo Coyl:

I did some time in Cinci.
And that's the way I look at it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm ultradamno:

We've talked about Bloomington's The Belgian Waffles before on here, Floyd Willems with alums Dan Willems and Heather Floyd have a new moog heavy song twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Handy Haversack:

Some cool old local beers from Cinci. We used to brew a Cincinnati blond and a red version and called the process Dealing to the Cincinnati Kid and the beers, duh, Tuesday Weld and Ann-Margaret.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm ultradamno:

I had great fun there, if you overlooked the constant threat of racial violence and spate of people randomly hitting people in the head with 2x4s from moving cars, it was cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm ultradamno:

Plus, Human Zoo and BPA, pretty much all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Will the Sound Guy:

Creamo, you're killing it today man!
Avatar 4:34pm Creamo Coyl:

Cheers, Will!
  4:36pm The Butterman:

I have not, let me be clear...I HAVE NOT had sexual relations with that city, Cincinnati.
Avatar 4:37pm Creamo Coyl:

Yeah cuz your check bounced!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm ultradamno:

It is the Queen City, so that could result in a Prince or Princess Town...probably New Dayton
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Doug in JC:

I think you guys are remembering Roadhouse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Barney Grubbs:

Did they put spaghetti in their chili in Roadhouse?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Handy Haversack:

Always remember Roadhouse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm ultradamno:

I was remembering Over The Edge
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm ChukAmok:

Roadhouse, damn. Come for the throat rips; stay fpr the Ben Gazzara.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm ultradamno:

I remember watching Human Zoo at some show there and a friend of mine came up panicked saying there was a guy in the parking lot waving a gun around saying he was going to shoot everyone. I was like, what do you expect us to do? Go to the car, in the parking lot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm ultradamno:

I don't think I ever ate chili there (though I fully endorse all forms of pasta to be included, I'm not a bigot). I have done polka dances and drank beer from a bucket though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Handy Haversack:

Now you're remembering Over the Rhine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm ultradamno:

...in a literal sense, the whole time. Yes.
Avatar 4:54pm Creamo Coyl:

OMG Over The Rhine
Fuck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Handy Haversack:

Sorry, Creamo. Trigger warning.

Someone just walked by my window saying, "We get split, if we move a certain amount of money to Bleacher Report ..."

MON Greenpoint
Fuck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Niall:

This has been a hell of a thing tonight.

I haven't heard Fetisch Park in decades. Damn. Abuse the hell out of some reverb and you've got an Andy Stott track. Sounds a like like the recent "Lost Girls" album on Smalltown Supersound, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm ChukAmok:

I have made a mistake in terms of which Roadhouse was being discussed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm ChukAmok:

Haven't heard Andy Stott's name in awhile...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm ultradamno:

Speaking of the Ohio River depression, footage of the Johnny Thunders show I attended at The Jockey Club twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Niall:

@ChukAmok: It'd be funny if you followed that up with "but I heard his music just yesterday."
  5:05pm Bjarne:

Goddammit this is good stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm tim from champaign (now washington):

It's great hearing this Damon Locks. I saw Trenchmouth a ton in the early 90s.
Avatar 5:14pm Creamo Coyl:

Love Trenchmouth and Eternals.
Avatar 5:16pm TDK60:

Gotta run. Thanks, Creamo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Devin B.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Avatar 5:18pm Creamo Coyl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm ultradamno:

I was just thinking the blood police must work for the jehovah's witnesses...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Handy Haversack:

Their extradition treaties with the jazz police are seriously messed up.
  5:34pm Gnomon:

Creamo, you should look into Unexplored Sounds Group if you haven’t, they’re doing a whole series of experimental from various places, and they put out a bunch of other great stuff.
Avatar 5:35pm Creamo Coyl:

Yeah I think I've heard some of the others. Lots of good South American comps lately. I dig it.
  5:37pm Gnomon:

I think they’re the ones who put out a comp from the Balkans which was fantastic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm tim from champaign (now washington):

This is good stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Handy Haversack:

Yeah! Would occulte in those jungles again!

  5:45pm ben & Reba:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Handy Haversack:

That very item is sitting in and on the tape deck right this very moment, ultradamno!
