  3:39pm David in London:

Chresti, it’s a bit weird in that respect. You would say ‘The Shy-ers’ if you would talking about counties as a collective, but -sheer if you were saying Oxfordshire or Derbyshire individually.

Sheer like garden shears, so far the only function of those things.

I am not sure whether this represents the peak of my wisdom or whether I have come to my senses in the past year, but I finally realize how ridiculous I have been: the I Ching says that the Flamingo represents courage.

So what did I do?

I bought a Flamingo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm sphere:

hello. I just tuned in and guessed Basho-Junghans before I saw the playlist. I rule! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm mariano:

The British pronunciation disconnect that finally made me call shenanigans on the entire UK was Featherstonhaugh (look it up, it's really outrageous). It was at that moment that I realized that y'all have just been punking the rest of the world for centuries with this stuff, and that when we're not around, you go back to saying things as they're written. Go on, fess up.

@sphere, the hair demands sober respect.
  3:48pm headcleaner:

@Ken - yup, and the once proud empire is already sending down camouflaged gunboats, apparently. as if to announce to the world how aware it is of its precarious continued existence
  3:49pm David in London:

Mariano, there is actually a dance company called The Cholmondeleys and the Featherstonehaughs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm sphere:

Johnson's admittedly awesome hair led the U.K. to Brexit?!? The mind wobbles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Rich in Washington:

It's spelled RevolutionRabbit Nov63 - but it's pronounced Mangrove ThroatWobbler...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, you would have me think that A Sniveling Little Rat-Faced Git is not a real person. Don't move my cheese, bruv!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm mariano:

A few days ago, Mr. Pumpy, guess we're out of sync. Currently wearing the Liz Berg Robot Dance Party tee from around 2011 (it was next in line in the t-shirt drawer, I'm not that much of an FMU cultist).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm People Like Us:

actually people voted for Boris Johnson because he looks like a children's TV presenter from the 80s called Chris Tarrant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm sphere:

@ Rich in Washington: maybe you should show up at the next Air Guitar Championship!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Mr. Luxury Yacht in Washington:

People voted for Trump because he looked like a discarded Muppet prototype.
  3:52pm David in London:

Hey Mr P!
  3:52pm Brendan:

In the short documentary ‘The Delian Mode’ someone says that Delia said that wine bottles in varying stages of emptiness ( for different pitches) were a big part of her sound. Sounds like a lot of fun to set up. On the flip side , sadly ...chronic alcoholism was said to have contributed to her early death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm chris in the redwoods:

  3:54pm Splankity:

hey, so glad Fabio is back--hoping you are feeling fine and all better, Fabio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm People Like Us:

well yes, but Tiswas is the nostalgia that Boris voters dream of
  3:55pm headcleaner:

have to say that as much as "the future" (as it has arguably arrived upon us) sucks in so many ways - dental care is pretty awesome, compared to even a few decades ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm mariano:

David: Reminds me of that anecdote about Horatio Bottomley announcing himself at the Marquess of Cholmondeley's door as "Mr. Bumley".
Avatar 3:55pm Bas NL:

Terribly difficult tuning wine bottles. One sip too much and you have to down another octave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Handy Haversack:

Vicki, I *luuuuuuuuhhhhhrve* that Welso road sign story. I tell it all the damn time.

@Mr. Pumpy - you aren't kidding! I'd only had dish washing jobs in kitchens so I never learned proper knife skills. I used to love National Lampoon when I was a kid, right when it was in its last blaze of glory in the late 70s/early 80s. I went to St Mary’s in Lübeck a few years ago. It has, I think, the biggest organ in the world (oo-er missus). The C bass pipe is almost 40ft long and the smallest is like a flute.
