Hello, Orange Peel — I hear you were looking for me before the Big Boss' show. Am I correct to surmise this is related to Tony Rivers and the Castaways?
Avatar 8:03pm
Orange Peel:

He was in Parrish & Toppano

@Ross: In the Sixties, everyone but everyone did, including many of the squarer pop acts. You'd be surprised at the list of who turned on, tuned in, and sold out.

Hey Chop Scott

Maybe so.

Nice Sitar on this one 1967

Gerry from Miami:

Maybe you have to be from India to withstand the constant droning tonality of the sitar. When asked, back in the day, what he thought of George Harrison and others' using the sitar on pop records, Ravi Shankar said it was silly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
Gaylord Fields:

I think I read that in the Super Duper Mega Extra Ginormous Deluxe version of Mark Lewisohn's book.
Avatar 8:20pm
MOM WHIG:

Chip Taylor (is the brother of Jon Voight) Oscar Winner - just looked him up
Avatar 8:20pm

Indeed, it is written in the sitars

Hypnotic Sounds from Sir Del
Avatar 8:23pm
WLSClark:

Great B side to "Sis Isabelle"? Produced by Dee Robb, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
Gaylord Fields:

OP, and the flip side of this record has Del losing his religion years before R.E.M. did.
Avatar 8:23pm
Orange Peel:

I love me Liquid Paper
Avatar 8:24pm
Orange Peel:

Sir Clark, Sir Gaylord both for the win

Del Shannon, the guy who had the gall to go and die just before he was to become a Traveling Wilbury to replace Roy Orbison.
Avatar 8:25pm

Del's passing was tragic and we shall leave it at that.
Avatar 8:26pm

At least Del left us with his goldmine of music
Avatar 8:26pm

Indeed, Sir Clark
Avatar 8:26pm

As has Donovan
  8:26pm

No doubt, OP. I meant no insult to a great artist.
Avatar 8:26pm

Donovan! I have this song by Mary Hopkins!
Avatar 8:26pm
Orange Peel:

Indeed, Sir Gerry
Avatar 8:27pm
Orange Peel:

Yes, Sir Ross. HMS Donovan also did this in a movie.
Avatar 8:27pm
ROSS:

What album did Don record this for?
Avatar 8:27pm
Orange Peel:

Sir Ross, it is an outtake - included on a reissue CD
Avatar 8:28pm
WLSClark:

This song is just great! Where is it in mono? I sure wish it woulda been a 45. I LOVE IT!
Avatar 8:28pm
ROSS:

Paul was quite smitten with Linda Eastman
Avatar 8:29pm
ROSS:

Mono promo LP only for RAM
  8:30pm
uptown jen:

WLSClark, there was a mono version of the album when the McCartney Archive Collection was released.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Gaylord Fields:

Actual discrete mono mix of Ram, or a fold-down?
Avatar 8:30pm
WLSClark:

AHH! Thanks, Ross. I have the Jet 45 promo mono where they moved all the pieces around on it. Our AM station played that version, but most didn't
  8:30pm
uptown jen:

(On vinyl)
Avatar 8:32pm
Orange Peel:

Gaylord - the Big Boss says it is true.
Avatar 8:32pm
WLSClark:

Gaylord, good question. My fave Beatles LP is "Beatles VI"--I know I know. The thing is, the stereo CDs dont sound right on fave "Spoil the Party" and the mono CD sounds like a folddown too.
Avatar 8:32pm
sw2442:

The only song from Ram by Paul and Linda to be recorded here in L.A. if I'm correct...

Ross and Uptown Jen...correct...it's available on CD on Ram Archive Collection box set...a limited edition vinyl was separately released of the mono mix...

Gaylord...it is a true mono mix...not a fold-down...
Avatar 8:35pm
Orange Peel:

Sir Bobby Vee
  8:36pm
Gerry from Miami:

Hearing that Donovan record reminded me that Mr. Leitch will turn 75 on May 10. GooGoo Barabajagal!!
Avatar 8:36pm
sw2442:

WLSClark...when Beatles VI was reissued on CD in 2006 as part of The Capitol Albums, Vol.2, it was taken from Capitol's actual master tape prepared for the album. The 2014 reissue uses the 2009 remasters used for the reissue of Beatles For Sale...

I’ve never heard this Bobby Vee, pretty good!

sw2442, I just cannot hear that song correct to my WLS taping in 65 sounds. My ears are 89'd too much I think.
