Greetings and salutation Lady C and all ritual groovers here gathered.
Avatar 4:01pm LadyChanticleer:

Howdy, David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm chresti:

Hi Lady C and ritualizers!
Avatar 4:02pm LadyChanticleer:

Hey hey Chresti!
Avatar 4:03pm Little Danny:

Yeahhh Lady C!
Avatar 4:05pm LadyChanticleer:

Danny! There was a gust of wind at the start, so naturally the internet went down.
Avatar 4:05pm StringOFperils:

Hello LC. Ritual-ready here.
Avatar 4:06pm Little Danny:

Yeah I think I got a mouthful of grit from that same gust.
Avatar 4:06pm LadyChanticleer:

@StringOFperils: hey hey!
Avatar 4:08pm LadyChanticleer:

I love how Burt Jansch manages to make a free-wheeling night of drunken fun sound dire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm David (in London):

Lady C. I played with Bert once, and he was exactly like that. Mid you, that was his early 90s nadir, so possibly not fair to judge at that stage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm David (in London):

*ahem* mind you...
Avatar 4:10pm Sem:

Summoned by Pentangle.
Hello, Lady C., and greets to lovers of ritual music. Like D iL, there.
Avatar 4:11pm LadyChanticleer:

That's amazing! Seeing him live was the only concert I've ever wept during. His somber vibe works!
Avatar 4:11pm LadyChanticleer:

Hey Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm David (in London):

All hail the Semulator!
Avatar 4:14pm Sem:

All well there in the sacred temple of The Knowledge, David?
Avatar 4:14pm LadyChanticleer:

Internet real wonky out here this weekend!
Avatar 4:15pm StringOFperils:

Do you know why the trees bend
At the west Texas border?
Do you know why they bend
Sway and twine?
The trees bend because of the wind
Across that lonesome border
The trees bend because of the wind
Almost all the time.

Wow, this Reba Muhuri track!

Rich You All Music!
Avatar 4:16pm LadyChanticleer:

Isn't it gorgeous?
Avatar 4:17pm Little Danny:

Crushing it out straight outta the gate today, Natalie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm WR:

Wind, dust, west Texas, the only thing new is the internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm David (in London):

Sem, yes indeed thank you sir, a sunny, gentle Sunday.
How are things at your end of the watchtower?
Avatar 4:21pm Sem:

Planting season approaches, so out playing in the dirt making all shipshape and bristol fashion.
Avatar 4:22pm LadyChanticleer:

Thanks Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm adamdoesit:

Hi LC and ritualists. The internet may cut out from time to time but, hey, so do I.
Avatar 4:26pm LadyChanticleer:

Same same
  4:37pm DJpeterDE:

Welcome to GTD radio, Lady C!
Avatar 4:39pm LadyChanticleer:

Hello hello and thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Stanley:

Yo, Lady Chanticleer and esteemed listeners.
Sunday evenings have gone from good to great, lately.
Don't get me wrong, I like The Stork Club but sometimes it can be a bit 'specialist' for me. Anyway, happy to be here.
Hi Sem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Doug Schulkind:

Good God that Roshell Anderson cut! I have only one track of his ("Snake Out of Green Grass.") I was floored to learn that he pretty much gave up music and became a local news reporter in Milwaukee using the name Mike Anderson: www.thehistorymakers.org...
Avatar 4:44pm LadyChanticleer:

No way! Mike Anderson!? Assuming that wasn't his real name...
Avatar 4:45pm Sem:

Hello, Stanley, good to see you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Haha! Just a few minutes ago I sent an email to Yusef Lateef's wife.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm WR:

That was great R&B / early soul set!
Avatar 4:47pm LadyChanticleer:

Amazing, Doug. I know you are a big time appreciator.
Avatar 4:47pm LadyChanticleer:

Thank you WR
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm WR:

Thanks for the link, Doug. A son of Louisiana.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm adamdoesit:

Music sounds quiet relative to mic. Listening via Tunein. Just me?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Doug Schulkind:

It's like saying I appreciate one of my internal organs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm adamdoesit:

YEAH! There we go.
Avatar 4:50pm LadyChanticleer:

It keeps going in and out! Apologies, folks. And yes, totally not just you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm David (in London):

Evening Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Lady Chanticleer, y'all
Avatar 4:56pm Sem:

David, I have to thank you for sending me on a Bert Jansch reading spree. Always loved Pentangle, but did not know much of anything about the individuals. Mr. Jansch seems a force of nature...
Avatar 4:56pm LadyChanticleer:

Howdy coelacanth∅!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Doug Schulkind:

Hopefully you are recording the show locally. In a situation when you have a lot of dropouts (which happens to everyone), you can use your local file of the show to create the archive. Hit me up later for how to do that.
Avatar 4:58pm LadyChanticleer:

Dope! Will do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm David (in London):

Damn, this is highly groovesome.
Avatar 5:08pm LadyChanticleer:

Thank you, Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm HyperDose:

This is indeed a groove!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm David (in London):

Well, my pleasure Sem. I met him and played with him in the early 90s. At a time when house / dance music was so strongly in the ascendant, you literally couldn't give away an old folkie like him (hence why a very average instrumentalist like me got to play with him). Consequently, he was at a pretty low ebb, but he was still absolutely amazing to watch and listen to. I was really glad that things turned around eventually and that he got plenty of time back in the sun once at the latter stage of his life.
Avatar 5:15pm LadyChanticleer:

My buddy Matt played with him on WFMU I believe, maybe a year or so before he died.
Avatar 5:16pm LadyChanticleer:

Not surprisingly, he's my go-to when I'm feeling ultra melancholic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm David (in London):

Lady C. Yeah, he had a way of bringing out the sadness without even trying, didn't he?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Michael 98145:

yes, we Can
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm chresti:

LC, I was in a melancholic state and Les Harlem Pop Trotters whooped me out of it, thanks!
Avatar 5:23pm LadyChanticleer:

Chresti! That track. I'm so glad. Every time I hear it I'm like "wtf!?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm David (in London):

Hey Chresti. We all need a little musical lift every now and again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Scott67:

G'day Lady.C & Ritualistic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Stanley:

Heavy riffs not what you expect from Gong.
Avatar 5:29pm LadyChanticleer:

Hi Scott!
Avatar 5:30pm LadyChanticleer:

Isn't it funny, Stanely? This record is among their heaviest, which surprised me upon first listen as I was more acquainted with their more whimsical tunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm David (in London):

Gong's 'Opium for the People' is pretty full on, too.

Hey Scotty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Stanley:

Yes, Lady C. Like Gong went all jazz rocky.
But hey that lead guitar was quite fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm HyperDose:

Their bass player needs a raise with all those dogs he was walking
Avatar 5:34pm StringOFperils:

Ha ha, hyperD !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Aitch:

Lurking listening for the last hour or so, wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Scott67:

G'day David, I fell asleep listening to Carol's show last night.👍😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Stanley:

David - I have that on the shelf, It so far ahead, it's beautiful. Includes the seminal 'Squeezing Sponges Over Policeman's Heads'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm David (in London):

That's a good way to go out Scotty.
Hey HyperDose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Stanley:

Nice to see we are joined by our Antipodean friends. Hi Aitch and Scott
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm HyperDose:

Evening, David, Scott, Aitch, SoP, & Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Aitch:

Monday morning, erk...
Avatar 5:39pm LadyChanticleer:

Planet Gong! I'll have to dig up that article about Sherman Hemsley taking Gong to his house and showing them the drug room inspired by their music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Scott67:

G'day Stanley.👍😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm David (in London):

Ah, hi Aitch. Poor you, have to deal with already. We're staving it off for another few hours.

Avatar 5:47pm StringOFperils:

Well, that's a strange story.
  5:50pm Jeff:

Happy Lazy Lady C Sunday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm David (in London):

That's a superb article Lady C, with "Sorry man, I don't smoke" surely being (given this context) one of the all-time top ten quotes in rock.
Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Franco Twinkie:

Sorry I'm late, I was cleaning the garage.
Avatar 5:57pm Sem:

Lady C., much obliged for today's music, lovely listening on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Hope to see you and all next time, should the gods allow.
Avatar 5:58pm LadyChanticleer:

Welcome Franco!
Avatar 5:59pm LadyChanticleer:

I think the winds and the amount of people in town will have eased up a little. Until next time, Sem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm David (in London):

Ta ta Sem.
Avatar 5:59pm StringOFperils:

Thank you LadyChanticleer!Thank you pothead pixies!
Avatar 6:00pm LadyChanticleer:

David : That story is just amazing all the way around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm chresti:

Thanks Lady C!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Jeff Golick:

Sunday is *my* funday. Hey, Lady C. and fellow Ritualistics!
Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Franco Twinkie:

I'd like to get stoned, but I've got a sore throat.
Avatar 6:03pm LadyChanticleer:

Of course, Chresti! Thank you!
Avatar 6:03pm LadyChanticleer:

Hey there, Jeff!
Avatar 6:04pm LadyChanticleer:

Well the hope is that the show at least makes you feel kinda stoned.
Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Franco Twinkie:

It does!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Stanley:

This is hypnotic stuff.
More snake charmer flute, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Stanley:

Love the show, Lady C but it's bedtime and work tomorow.
Good night all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm David (in London):

Yes, me too, sadly.
Thanks Lady C. Have a good week ahead all.
Avatar 6:16pm LadyChanticleer:

Night night Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Scott67:

G'night Stanley & David.✌😎
Avatar 6:17pm LadyChanticleer:

Catch ya next time David
Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Scott67:

G'day Franco.😎🤙any treasures in the garage?
  6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

How’s this for a perfect Sunday evening: Ritual Music leading into Cuban black bean and roasted vegetable tacos?! Sorry if I’m gloating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Jeff Golick:

[subconsciously waiting for Doug to starting talking over this]
Avatar 6:25pm LadyChanticleer:

I love it, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Scott67:

Did someone say Tacos!??
  6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

Probably not all that special for West Texas, but in Pittsburgh—nirvana.
Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Franco Twinkie:

The garage itself is the treasure Scott. My idea is to convert it into my mad scientist laboratory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Scott67:

Same with Bendigo, Australia Doug.S! 👍😎🌈🌮
Avatar 6:29pm LadyChanticleer:

You'd be surprised. Not much by way of black beans out here. I'm ultra snobby when it comes to good black beans haha.
Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Franco Twinkie:

They don't sell dry black beans at the store in Texas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Scott67:

Nice one Franco! Mine is so full of Mad Artist materials & junk treasures, I can't get in it.
Avatar 6:31pm LadyChanticleer:

Well I don't wanna make 'em!
Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Franco Twinkie:

You don't like Goya brand?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm WR:

Interesting, Barbara & Ernie. I remember seeing this when came out but didn't give it a listen.
Avatar 6:33pm LadyChanticleer:

Haha! Yes, I do. Although, wasn't there some big controversy recently?
Avatar 6:33pm LadyChanticleer:

Did Goya get canceled in 2020?
Avatar 6:33pm LadyChanticleer:

The cover is a compelling one, WR
Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Franco Twinkie:

I don't no. I like Peruvian yellow beans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm coelacanth∅:

i don't buy goya canned beans because they're not fully cooked.
rienzi is good, and so's shoprite brand organic
Avatar 6:36pm LadyChanticleer:

There's a brand here that comes in a little yellow box. Best black beans on the market out here. I like where this conversation has turned.
Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, the debate is on! I too find Goya kind of undercooked. Trader Joes are passable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Jeff Golick:

Re Goya, there was this cursed image: static.politico.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm coelacanth∅:

agreed on tj's. my sister gets those
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm coelacanth∅:

Jeff...what -the hell??
Avatar 6:39pm LadyChanticleer:

Here we go, Jack's Quality black beans. My favorite. Although, back in the day, TJs for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Scott67:

The only canned Black Beans I have tried, I felt were undercooked as well. Glad I'm not alone thinking this.
Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh wow! I didn't know Satan liked Goya products. Is it a Cuban crony thing?
Avatar 6:40pm still b/p:

Very good reception in ears and head to that familiar voice with those rhythms and music & recording style of the day. Very goooood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm coelacanth∅:

westbrea brand (canned) was horribly undercooked, last i knew
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Scott67:

Jeff, too soooon! 💀🔥
Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Franco Twinkie:

I like to cook beans. It's my upbringing, you know.
Avatar 6:43pm LadyChanticleer:

There was a product at Long's drug store back in the day called "mushy processed peas" and I always thought "wow... really?"
Avatar 6:44pm LadyChanticleer:

I mean, I like the honesty
Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Franco Twinkie:

Did you try them?
Avatar 6:45pm LadyChanticleer:

No, but I tried the canned bread next to it
Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Franco Twinkie:

Avatar 6:47pm LadyChanticleer:

Oh... it was an experience
Avatar 6:47pm LadyChanticleer:

Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Franco Twinkie:

Like a slice stuck in a can?
Avatar 6:48pm LadyChanticleer:

Think condensed milk, but bread
Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, kind of like the Pringles of bread.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Jeff Golick:

As a native New Englander, I say a big #nope to that bread business. Not familiar, not eager to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Scott67:

Mushy peas are a thing in North of England. They have them with fish & chips, or on a Meat Pie. I ordered chips when in Lancashire, & the bloke asks. Would ye like mushy pea wi tha? I didn't!
Avatar 6:51pm LadyChanticleer:

@Scott67 : haha! Ok, this makes more sense as there was canned Spotted Dick next to the mushy peas.
Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Franco Twinkie:

I saw snap peas for the first time this season at the farmers market last week. I'm waiting for English peas.
Avatar 6:51pm still b/p:

Yes, common, familiar and traditional in New England, the B&M canned brown bread. Not so bad, with the signature molasses flavor, though I don't think I'd choose it today. Only had it once as an adult after childhood encounters.
The B&M factory is a couple miles from where I live.
Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Franco Twinkie:

So, what was the picture on the can of Spotted Dick?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i've tried, and tried... i cannot seem to make beans good from dried. they're always mealy.
2-3 hours on medium heat, mealy. 4 hours on a wood stove, mealy. i don't know how many hours simmering soup - mealy.
i gave up.
Avatar 6:54pm LadyChanticleer:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm coelacanth∅:

*we are experiencing technical difficulties*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Scott67:

Coel, do you soak them overnight first?
Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Franco Twinkie:

To band you live so far away Coel, I could show you how, and you would never eat canned beans again
Avatar 6:56pm LadyChanticleer:

Someone coughed across town!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Scott67:

Franco, I see a how to Flame-O-scope video idea!
Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Franco Twinkie:

Is it a fish?
  6:56pm Ifny on the road:

Coel: try buying 'fresh' good quality dried beans I'd you want to take one more kick at the can -- dried beans do have an expiry date and cook up mealy/tough after that.
Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Franco Twinkie:

There is no such thing as an expired bean in Los Angeles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm coelacanth∅:

i have soaked them over night. i've cooked them with various seaweeds, which should soften them because of the glutamic acid.

....i'm certainly willing to keep trying
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Scott67:

Thanks Lady.C for the trip!
Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Franco Twinkie:

I'm going to have some hot lentils right now. Thanks L.C.
  6:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Your shows are sizzling, but chill, LadyC. How do you do that?!
Avatar 7:00pm LadyChanticleer:

My pleasure Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm coelacanth∅:

well - if there IS a best by date for dried beans, that could be the issue... when i think about where i was buying them
Avatar 7:00pm LadyChanticleer:

Catch ya next time Franco! Always a pleasure.
Avatar 7:02pm LadyChanticleer:

Ah! Chill but sizzlin'... that reminds me of the Salvadoran Cymande track I need to play. Band called Hielo Ardiente. Hot Ice. Next time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm coelacanth∅:

is it still ritual music, or the drummer stream?
well in any case Thanks Lady C!
take care everone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm coelacanth∅:

for the record lentils can't be ruined!
chick peas seem to be the impossible ones.
