Welcome back, Joe! I'm ready for some true noise from the surface though I have to work in a few minutes, unfortunately.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:04am Ken From Hyde Park:

Welcome back, Joe! Abbie from Mars was fun, but glad the Yips are here again.
  9:05am Hope Chernov:

One of my favorite movies and soundtracks - thank you Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am fred:

I probably told that before, but when one day one of my many bosses (a noise musician) was on a road trip and lost the signal on the car's radio. While looking for another frequency, he got interference and his then 6 year old daughter exclaimed "it's daddy's music!"
  9:06am djsheilab:

Happy to have you back on this beautiful Monday morning, Joe!
  9:06am Rick A:

Cool, you are beginning with some film music. This is a great score though the film is okay. Yared scored Beineix's previous film "The Moon in the Gutter" too. Beineix stopped making films many years ago, sadly. Diva is one of my favorite films from the 80s and it was shown at BAM a couple of years ago with Neon Indian, introducing, great night.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:07am Threemoons:

@Fred that's awesome! Reminds me of the live F.M. Einheit show I saw in the LES a gazillion years and 40 lbs ago.....
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:07am Krys O.:

Greetings!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

Diva!! My absolute favorite movie.

Oh, hey everybody. Actually down in NH this week. 2nd Pfizer shot coming this Saturday. Woo!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:07am Krys O.:

Oh, Diva was a wonderful film....swoon.
  9:07am Brendan:

Oh those lovable space aliens. I wonder if that was a Mexican radio radio radio that they were listening to.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:08am JG:

Can somebody fill me in? The music is familiar, but what movie are we talking about?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:08am Handy Haversack:

Congrats, Woods!

Never seen Diva, I think.
  9:08am Rick A:

Diva is one of my favorite scores too. The La Wally aria is exhilarating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

@Handy. Highly recommended. Just avoid the one dubbed in English. Terrible.
Avatar 🎸 9:09am TonyR:

Perfect for my Monday morning hangover. My WFH boss thanks you.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:09am Threemoons:

I've never seen Diva even though I have been meaning to since it came out. I remember seeing ads for it in the Village Voice along with screenings of Liquid Sky, Eating Raul, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.....
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:10am Krys O.:

@Woods: I often imagine that folks are listening to accordion music on their ear buds because of Diva ;). Good luck on jab #2.
Avatar 🎸 9:10am TonyR:

Is this an anniversary of OKC?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Stillwell Coney Islander:

I Love Diva, watched it many times !
Avatar 🎸 9:10am TDK60:

Good morning DJ Joe.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:11am Krys O.:

@Threemoons: Loved the first two on your list: Liquid Sky and Eating Raoul. The latter because of Mary Woronov especially.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

@Krys O: Yeah, that man played an incredible villain!
Avatar 9:11am Joe McG:

Bonjour, mes amis. Happy to be back today! It felt weird not to be here on a Monday morning last week.
Avatar 🎸 9:11am Son Of Pantz:

I got my 2nd dose of Pfizer last tuesday and it took me out for 24 + hours. Worst flu symptoms I've ever had, but I'm glad it's over with.
Avatar 🎸 9:11am TonyR:

Felt weird to not have you!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:12am Krys O.:

@Woods: Dominique Pinon was great in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films like Delicatessen and City of Lost Children.
  🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:12am 12539:

I'm not sure last week even had a Monday (although Abbie was a good fill-in choice).

Speaking of movies, we re-watched Babette's Feast this weekend. Man, better than I remembered. It sits right on the (mental) shelf with Big Night for lovely food-infused movies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

@Krys O: I will have to check them out.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:15am Brian in UK:

Hey Joe. Was it Neil Innes that did a take on French songs?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:16am Krys O.:

@Woods: One more film for the epicurean list: The 100 Foot Journey by Lasse Halmstrom with Helen Mirren and Om Puri.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:16am Handy Haversack:

I have taken the show outside. Brooklyn sunshine and some robin noise. I should fill the feeders now so as to get some company while I'm back here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am fred:

@Threemoons: more fun facts about that boss: his daughter heard some of the rockabye baby records when little (on my recommendation), and the guy once played live on WFMU
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:17am Brian in UK:

Joe, it was strange from this side of the radio too. Must be 2/3 years since you took a day off.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:17am Krys O.:

Neil Innes did Love is Getting Deeper from Innes Book of Records: youtu.be...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:18am Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice to see that the skeleton crew is getting some relief at last. Toiling away each day for over a year already. If there's a GoFundMe for a day spa event for the crew, I'd donate to that!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:19am Brian in UK:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:22am Threemoons:

@Son of Pantz congrats on getting fully vaxxed--yeah, you kind of WANT a "robust immune response"--my 2nd Moderna knocked me on my lala pretty hard also.
  9:22am Niko, Copenhagen:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am melinda:

Ahhh, here come the sparrows. And some visitor I didn't recognize. Gotta go get the field guide.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:24am Matt Fiveash:

This music takes me back. Seeing Betty Blue in the theater as an angsty teen dovetailed perfectly with my burgeoning interest in tequila, cigarettes, and beautiful, disturbed women. Welcome back Joe!
  9:25am djsheilab:

Brilliant set! Feeling this mood big time!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:25am radioronan:

@Matt: Very well put, as always! (Don't forget eating chili out of a pot.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am Rich in Washington:

i know that this is a distinctly different rendition, but I am conditioned to think that Tony Coulter's show is starting now.
  9:27am Niko, Copenhagen:

Let me explain why Joe is great. An artist in his field: He does not get in the way of the music. He makes himself available. He becomes a medium. He is a master. Master DJ!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:29am JG:

@ Niko, yes I think you're right. And this show is always great

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:33am Dano59:

Beineix is amazing.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:34am Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh, blergh! Time off from skeleton duty because of cold and flu is not a great trade-off. Good health to you, Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Acid Cazh:

Aww, sorry you got sick Joe!

The most likely way it happened? Surfaces. Cold and flu can be passed on surfaces, unlike COVID (which is almost always passed by aerosolized particulates that the virus clings to).

We're taking ALL kinds of precautions against breathing each other's air, but less precaution with surfaces (since it came to light that COVID is almost never communicated that way).

Moral of the story: Wash yer hands, kids. ;)
  9:35am Crystal:

Good Morning Joe :)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:35am Dano59:

agree TerreD, there is one shot in common, with Ms. Cruz. The scripts/dialogue flow about the same. Crowe called VS a "remix" of Abre Los Ojos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Acid Cazh:

The #1 most effective treatment for flu is a TON of sleep. Whiskey is a great analgesic against aches and pains, take some tylenol for the fever, then take some Benadryl to sleeeeeeeeep. Good luck!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:35am Handy Haversack:

A year without a cold has been pretty great. Maybe not worth the trade-offs, of course, but still.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am melinda:

I have the Tindersticks film score box set, it's very good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Doug in JC:

  9:52am headcleaner:

Some virus (which your body has hundreds of thousands of strains of, btw) can lay dormant in the body for years before getting around to doing real damage (like making you sick). Whether this applies to influenza infections, I don't know. But this is what a doctor friend explained to me when I asked why I was getting occasional mild colds in the past year (despite very much masked and isolated during this time).
  9:52am Gerry from Miami:

@WoodsOfNH. If you are really into food-themed films, don't miss "Tampopo," about a Japanese noodle shop.

just try to imagine an alternate universe in which The Constant Sound made it big and you were hearing Peaceful Meadow all the time on 70s radio growing up. It's not too hard (if you remember the 70s, that is)

  10:00am headcleaner:

Latency is an excellent survival strategy for a virus, BTW. That's how HIV managed to score it so big.
Avatar 10:00am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@fred I think you had the most important job, knowing where the bathrooms are on top of my list, anywhere.
When I have people over, especially children, I show them where the bathroom is. it can be so embarrassing having to ask when you have to go (for many reasons).

Sigh.
  10:08am John from Montclair:

Sandman was in Treat Her Right before Morphine; and then he had voluminous side projects like that one.
