Avatar 12:06pm KlausVonB:

Hey Pseu. Oddly enough, I pulled out my copy of DIG! on DVD this morning and saw inside there was a bonus CD which contained an interview you did with Anton Newcombe back in 2003 right after Elliott Smith died. Strange

Hi Pseu and fellow hookfans!

I like it when bands write film related songs. Yo La Tengo does that fairly often.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Steve from Dunwoody:

@listener126464 Is that your real number there in the slightly below 'hood? Been curious how high they have gotten. My 5 digit # was awarded in the 80s I guess.

  12:47pm Oleh from Pittsburgh:

Pseu, how is your Zoom mixing board holding up? Do you still do the show from home?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm eastvanhalen:

Did Andrew WK lift that Jimmy Eat World synth riff?
Avatar 12:49pm Pseu Braun:

Yes, Oleh -- ya missed my break talk just before!! I'm awaiting my second vax to return to WFMU proper! @eastvanhalen, prolly the other way around.

Lawrence Juber and Steve Holley were terrific additions to the band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Steve from Dunwoody:

Number mystery, ahh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Great tune! Paul is probably my 3rd favorite member of Wings.
Swag For Life Member 12:56pm MattFM:

I watched the entire run of Bond movies front to back during lockdown, and concluded that Wings is responsible for the 3rd best Bond song, with "Live and Let Die" -- impressive!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Joe English and Denny...solid #1 and 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm The Donut King:

I think it's actually Steve Holley and Denny, but great either way. Funny how unloved that album is - lot's of good stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Woo:

I love office politics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hallo all. Steve, as a point of reference, I got my four digit listener# circa '95.
Thanks for elevating us locals from the cold rain, Pseu.
  1:01pm Rick A:

I saw Paul McCartney's tour in 1990 and was happy to see that former Pretenders guitarist Robbie McIntosh was one part of the band. Paul was still my favorite performer on that tour though Robbie was a close second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm eastvanhalen:

@Andres: slow as hell here too; there was an early community rollout where I live, high risk community
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm PMD:

Surely being irritated by knuckleheads *is* WFMU content, but what do I know
Swag For Life Member 1:05pm MattFM:

I miss Wawa. When I was a kid they turned the Wawa in my NJ hometown into a "Welsh Farms", and I don't think there's such thing as Wawa in my current homestate of CA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

Pandemic weirdness: I had my yearly physical yesterday and noted that it was extremely pleasurable to be speaking with my doctor. Not counting work Zooms, she's only the 3rd or 4th human I've spoken to in person in well over a year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

@Rick Robbie did yeoman's work trying to fil the shoes of James Honeyman-Scott with the Pretenders. I missed Macca on that 1990 tour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm eastvanhalen:

Meanwhile, I am loving this spring sunshine set so much
  1:07pm Oleh from Pittsburgh:

Pseu, I have a Zoom R8 in storage that I used for wonky synth noodling. Need to find out if can serve for podcasts. What model do you have, if U dont mind sayin. Good luck with your 2nd vax. I got mine two weeks ago, no outrageous side effects. Make sure to hydrate like a mofo.

The Donut King- True, just listened to all of Paul's early stuff and Wings up to "London Town' which is a stand out from the mid to late 70's. Check out 'Wildlife'!
  1:08pm Rick A:

I saw the Pretenders on the Learning to Crawl tour. Robbie kept his aviators on during the whole show. He was the picture of contained intensity. I was up close for that show, still one of the greatest I ever saw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm dave wuz here:

A late hello to you Pseu and everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Dayffid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Dayffid:

Would it still exist?
  1:11pm Ochre Ogre:

Anybody get their 2nd vax jab and experience ill feeling?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

I think you're giving humans too much credit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Woo:

@Dayffid, birds invented music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm B R M:

My friend Wendy Ip! How nice to hear her on here!
  1:12pm Rick A:

Birds make their own music which Trouble routinely features on her show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Dayffid:

Rich - I think but saying that you are answering the second question.
  1:12pm Andres:

Dayffid: We would at least still have bird song and whale music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Dayffid:

I after a quick think, I agree. Humans did not invent music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Tim In SF:

she goes in through the out door
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

There has to be some biological process that the human brain interprets as music
  1:14pm Andres:

This comments board has gone to the birds.
  1:15pm Rick A:

The Dude listens to whale songs in his bathtub while toking up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Music acts similar to smell, where you can hear music and connect to a long-ago moment
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Dayffid:

Probably to a bird or a whale, even the most complex human music will just sounds like random noise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

We can recall lyrics to songs we haven't heard in decades, almost instantly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Dayffid:

And maybe birds and other animals create equally complex musical composition as humans do, but our brains just can't hear them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

NRBQ! Love this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Cranking it up for NRBQ! A benefit of WFH.

Tommy Ardolino.
  1:18pm Rockfish:

Best song and band ever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm paddy in matawan:

Snappin' back some cans with the fellas'd be nice now. Half-eaten 2-day-old salad and a stale English Muffin followed by a rainy drive to the Covid test location will have to suffice.
Avatar 1:18pm Roberto:

I hadn't heard of NRBQ until Bonnie Raitt covered this.
  1:19pm Rockfish:

NRBQ that is
  1:19pm Andres:

There were some harsh words exchanged on another board regarding NRBQ. If only this song had been played all would have been peaceful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm James in ATL:

Hey, @Gaylord! Pseu, I love hearing NRBQ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Gaylord Fields:

Hiya, James!
  1:19pm Oleh from Pittsburgh:

@ Rich in Bay Ridge. Great study in the area of music sensory phenom and lightning strikes by OliverSacks calked Muscophilia. Music is good food. Just like this great NRBQ tune!
  1:19pm Beanz:

I just happen to have that one on a 45 single. Haven't seen it or played it in since forever but I have it. If I remember correctly it's on the Red rooster label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Sad, Andres. Dave Edmunds does a fine version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

@Oleh - thanks - I'll look that up. Agree on this tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Woo:

Saw NRBQ many times at Lupo's in Providence. Never disappointed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm eastvanhalen:

GBV! GBV! GBV!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Dayffid:

Rich - I recently had that experience. I heard Richard Hell song 'time' on the radio. and actually I had never heard it before but I somehow knew it. the words and everything. A few days later I figured it out. I had heard a cover if it by The Loft in my uncles car as kid. about 30 years ago. and I still remembered it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm James in ATL:

I have never seen GBV in concert. They are on my post-pandemic show list.

How many songs has Robert Pollard written and recorded? Is it near a thousand? I saw them several times in the 90s. Irving Plaza shows in 1995/6 were especially great.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm eastvanhalen:

Last time I saw GBV was at the Matador at 21 festivities in Las Vegas. A friend was in a Matador band at the time and he landed us friends & family passes after the event sold out, it was the best goddamn time ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm James in ATL:

A great introduction to NRBQ is the "High Noon - A 50-Year Retrospective" box or "Peek-A-Boo: Best of 1969-89". I was a roadie for them for a day. Pianos are heavy.

@xtrakrispy - hahaha, great minds think alike. I don't really mind being surrounded by Revolutionary War history too much here in Central Jersey personally, but I can see why others may find it to be too much.

This show has really been the perfect soundtrack to a sunny day here. Thanks so much, Pseu!

Thanks James

Dealing with minor kerfuffles here at work and not able to devote full attention to listening even on the down low volume. It's imperative that I check the Ark-Ives for the gaps.

wonderful wonderful....busy and this is all great Pseu!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Gaylord Fields:

Damn, Pseu, I was doing my actual work and missed the Phil Angotti song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Spankyflop:

We All Together?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Steve from Dunwoody:

true on ABC. What's a whit?
  2:36pm Andres:

I miss Peter Jennings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm ヱkョ:

Even afer all this time, Dan Rather can still GET IT!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Gaylord Fields:

Just listened to the song, and Spankyflop is correct — it sounds like "Tomorrow" by We All Together from Argentina.

*after (dammit)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Spankyflop:

Had to check my Peace Love And Poetry collections
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Gaylord Fields:

Serves me right for spending 10% of your show doing my job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Krys O.:

Not only are problems that require solutions at work taking me away from really listening, now I have to contend with someone in production BLASTING BOZ SCAGGS.....oof.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm herb.nyc:

Did Pseu mention abc evening news hottie? Wish I could comment but reception in sheepshead bay via lousy antenna is spotty. I’m attracted to cbs Debra Norville; she’s a brain too bec she did good commentary during impeachment hearings, and inauguration.

Do the chix like cbs weather guy Lonnie Smith (name?)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Bill in W.O.:

David Muir, that last treacly feel-good piece every night and his little "I'm too cute" smirk? Over the top. Whatever. Is Jeopardy on yet? But I used to look for reasons to stay up for World News Now when Diane Macedo was still doing the show so no stones and stuff.

I’ve missed a couple of weeks and Thursday afternoons just aren’t as good without your show, Psue. Every single week you play great stuff that I’ve never heard. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Ryansterlingvirtue:

liking this song. Hi Pseu!
Avatar 2:45pm Pseu Braun:

herb and Bill in W.O. you're both SO off-track. Norville is a muppet and David Muir has massive news/editorial cred. I only HATE the opening of every newscast, that's my one thing. AS WE COME ON THE AIR
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Krys O.:

Deborah Norville, formerly of the Today Show? She's still around. Wasn't she doing Inside Edition?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm herb.nyc:

“Pseu, you ignorant slut...”
Avatar 2:52pm Pseu Braun:

herb you weirdo. Norville is on Inside Edition and some half-hour infomercial on crepe erase.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Krys O.:

Wow, seems Norville is on the board of ViacomCBS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Bill in W.O.:

OK, I read ya boy's Wikipedia page and of course, you're right. And he's 47?! I have no conception of age anymore but I'd have guessed younger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm herb.nyc:

I just did a DuckDuckGo, and it’s Norah O’Donnell on cbs. Sorry. (By coincidence, my cyber fiancée is Irish)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm ヱkョ:

Just blame it on a cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Krys O.:

Ah, Norah O'Donnell played softball questions with Drumpf. Negatory on her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Debora Norville and Norah O'Donnell is easily confusable for dyslexics like me
  2:55pm annette:

re: as we come on the air. that mile high comment should be banned.
  2:55pm Andres:

Knowlton Nash is the bees knees.
Thank you, Pseu!! Great show today! Take care, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm herb.nyc:
