Hi Mary and wingdingers! Hi βrian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm chresti tennis booth:

Oh I'm still in the tennis booth..
Avatar 12:03pm βrian:

Hola, radioescuchas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Handy Haversack:

Hi, Mary, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Carmichael:

Heya Mary and wingnuts.
Avatar 12:05pm βrian:

Yesterday was too damn hot. Today is just perfect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi there, Wings and things.
Avatar 12:09pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello, Mary and all
Avatar 12:10pm Mary Wing:

Howdy brian, Phillippe, chresti, Handy, Carmichael, Ken, and Sylvia! Happy April, woo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm doctorjazz:

Hello Mary and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm doctorjazz:

Berry loverly!
Avatar 12:12pm Mary Wing:

What's the difference between a zither and an autoharp? Does the autoharp have more gadgets?
Avatar 12:12pm Mary Wing:

Hiya doctorjazz!
Avatar 12:13pm Hubig Pie:

This love-er-ly music doesn't conjure up the name Flibbertigibbet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm fred:

Hello Mary and percenters
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Mary spelling, mostly?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Michael 98145:

Hello, all 🔔
Avatar 12:15pm Mary Wing:

Hi there Hubig, fred, and Michael! Clap along!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm doctorjazz:

I believe an autoharp has buttons that play chords, you don't finger notes to form them. A zither looks similar, but no buttons, you use fingers to make chords, similar to a guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm fred:

I think Webhamster Henry is the resident autoharp expert, you should ask him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Michael 98145:

( always love the word cimbalom )
Avatar 12:19pm Hubig Pie:

The Zither provided the soundtrack to one of my favorite movies. The Autoharp has not
Avatar 12:21pm Mary Wing:

Okay, I'll bite; which movie is that, Hubig?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zither? I hardly knew her!
Avatar 12:22pm Mary Wing:

How groovy is this song, seriously?!?
Avatar 12:22pm Hubig Pie:

A little gem called The Third Man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm fred:

In my limited understanding, zither is a broad family of instruments, basically a board with strings over it (plucked, struck, but not bowed)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Phillippe Bastille:

The Third Man?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Phillippe Bastille:

Beat me to it, Hubig!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm doctorjazz:

Been a fan of Ranking Full Stop with Mike Sin, Ska, early Reggae, on Rock n Soul stream (have to listen in the archives).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm chresti tennis booth:

I have a version of Psychedelic Train on a Trojan ot Heartbeat comp.
Avatar 12:27pm Hubig Pie:

Loser has to buy lunch for everyone, Phillippe. I would like a nice Salad Nicoise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Phillippe Bastille:

Did you know Orson Welles also created a bunch of radio episodes of The Third Man, called The Adventures of Harry Lime (UK)/The Lives of Harry Lime (US)? I think Welles only wrote a handful, but I think there were about 60 episodes. Just listened to one of them a couple nights ago.
Salad is on the way, Hubig!
Avatar 12:30pm Mary Wing:

Yeah, i had no idea that Mike Sin had so much of that genre, doctojazz!
Avatar 12:33pm Hubig Pie:

Phillippe, someone posted a link to Orson Welles' drunken Paul Masson commercials yesterday. Did you catch that?
Avatar 12:34pm Mary Wing:

Oh man, i remember those wine commercials, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Michael 98145:

me, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Was the tag line for them something like "We will drink no wine before its (it's?) time"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Hubig I did not! We will sell no wine before its time!
Avatar 12:39pm Mary Wing:

Before the actual wine's time, or before it's time to drink wine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yes
Avatar 12:43pm Hubig Pie:

It was rather ambiguous. Paul Masson was not something you stored in your cellar
Avatar 12:44pm Mary Wing:

Ambiguous like those perfume ads with a bunch of naked people, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm David (in London):

I'm seriously lacking zing, I need Mary Wing.
Afternoon groovers. I've been interviewing non-stop since 8.30 this morning and I feel like I'm dying. Death by PowerPoint. So I'm going to lie on the sofa with a cold compress on my forehead and just listen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Michael 98145:

Heh upload.wikimedia.org...
Avatar 12:48pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

how are you feeling today, Handy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Handy Haversack:

Physically much better, Sylvia, thanks.
Avatar 12:49pm βrian:

Salade niçoise is one of my favs. New potatoes are key.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Michael 98145:

oh! Stereolab offshoot!
Avatar 12:49pm Mary Wing:

Good evening, David! Relax, I'll take care of the entertainment for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Working and lurking, Mary. Great show, as ever!
Avatar 12:51pm βrian:

I thought PowerPoint went the way of cigar bars and goatees.
Avatar 12:51pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

hum, there's no potato in salade niçoise
Avatar 12:51pm Mary Wing:

Hey there, S&M&S! I'm working and lurking too, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Phillippe Bastille:

Just crossed into official "old man" territory by checking the mail for the third time today, even though I'm not expecting anything in particular.
Avatar 12:54pm Mary Wing:

Many hours to fill in a day, Phillippe, so many hours...
Avatar 12:57pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

isn't that one of Thom Yorke's project?
Avatar 12:58pm Mary Wing:

Yep, can't mistake that voice, can you?
Avatar 12:58pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

yes, indeed
Avatar 1:01pm βrian:

Au contraire. Potato is critical! (Though there are dissenters, to be sure.)

www.newyorker.com...
Avatar 1:02pm Mary Wing:

Oh my gosh, that salad looks deeeeeeelicious, oy!
Avatar 1:03pm βrian:

@Sylvia: how do you come down on the presence of eggs in aioli?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Phillippe Bastille:

was there just a faint squeezy noise?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

(serious question)
Avatar 1:07pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@βrian in the sauce you mean? I've always seen it being made with raw egg yolk, it helps with the texture, but the original recipe doesn't have egg in it (I grew up in Provence region)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Handy Haversack:

Mais óu sont les neiges d'antan?
Avatar 1:09pm Mary Wing:

Squeezy noise? In the song? Maybe; I didn't hear it though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Mary, I heard it four or five times in the direction of my left front speaker. Need to go outside and check for wildlife
Avatar 1:11pm βrian:

I spent a year in Aix-en-Provence long ago, and some time in Lyon.

I developed a deep affinity for Rosemary.
Avatar 1:15pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

rosemary is very good, I agree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm chresti tennis booth:

yES, rosemary.
Avatar 1:22pm Sem:

Over-wintered mine here, makes me crazy for summer to look at rosemary.

Hello, Mary (she has risen), and the 100%, spread out like honey on hot toast.
  1:22pm Par Ubi 丰:

Hey Wingdings, hi Mary
Avatar 1:25pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Sem and Par Ubi! Spring is on it's way, I can feel it my sinuses, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm 1ke:

Ooo, I like that 丰. I'm stealing that.
Avatar 1:31pm Hubig Pie:

Rosemary does good all year round indoors. 8 inches of snow last night but the basil grows fat and the cherry tomatoes are ripening in our indoor grow garden
Avatar 1:33pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Ike! Abundance of what, though?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm fred:

@丰ke: is that what you're going by now?
  1:36pm Par Ubi 丰:

Feel free!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I hope that new moisture keeps the fires at bay for a while, Hubig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm fred:

That character also reminded me of "La Grande Triple Alliance Internationale de l'Est"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm 丰ke:

Definitely, @Fred.

@Mary, I'm using it to mean "buxom" instead of "abundant". Too many cookies during the pandemic.
Avatar 1:48pm Mary Wing:

I hear you, Ike; I have finally managed to lose the 10 pounds of pandemic binging from last year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

Nice! Shins!
Swag For Life Member 1:55pm spodiodi:

100% aloha, Mary Wing and listener-accomplices
Avatar 1:56pm Mary Wing:

Avatar 2:04pm Sem:

This I gotta hear.
Thx, Mary.
Avatar 2:05pm Mary Wing:

(over and over and woo!)
Avatar 2:05pm Hubig Pie:

I bought this album when it came out and I hated it, cept for this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Never heard a cover of this('cept for me singing it in the shower.). Gonna be interesting!
Avatar 2:07pm Sem:

@Hubig: ever heard The Wedding Album?
Avatar 2:10pm Hubig Pie:

Sem, is that the one with John!, Yoko! repeated over and over and over....?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

I'm surprised this song has BEEN covered!
Avatar 2:11pm Sem:

Yep, that's side 1.
Avatar 2:12pm Mary Wing:

I feel as if no song is off limits ever since I found covers of Tonetta's "Drugs Drugs Drugs" heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Sem, I guess they had to outdo REv#9.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm KevinfromBayRidge:

But 3 Mary?!
Avatar 2:16pm Bas NL:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm coelacanth∅:

just caught the tail of Marcela M's version and, though i don't like her singing much i like the arrangement
  2:28pm P-90:

John would definitely have approved of Señor Brizuela.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 2:39pm Mary Wing:

Cool, Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm coelacanth∅:

'sorry i'm so critical
- not really! - but for spilling it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm coelacanth∅:

...but isn't that what 3ok is for - to contrast and compare?
Avatar 2:42pm Mary Wing:

Sure, if that keeps you engaged, I got no problem with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm chresti tennis booth:

mp3s have that tinny quality, coel?
Avatar 2:44pm Bas NL:

Wow! Already ten covers of the original!
Avatar 2:45pm Mary Wing:

There were plenty more, but they all sounded too much like John's voice so I bailed on them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Michael 98145:

Heh. I didn't even know there was -one- ...
Avatar 2:46pm Bas NL:

Even wowwer!
