  3:42pm JBoogie:

Avatar 3:43pm DJ Major Sally:

I even got admitted free to a ‘Mayor On The Sunset Strip’ promo night because they thought I was him.
Avatar 3:43pm Debbie Davenport:

haha
No 1,000 records for me. that is why I'm buying up the ones at the prices that are more regular now. Punk stuff got expensive like that.
Avatar 3:44pm Debbie Davenport:

Sally my aunt was mistaken for Marilyn at the Brown derby before. Got lots of attention and free drinks.
Avatar 3:45pm DJ Major Sally:

That’s awesome Debbie!
Avatar 3:46pm Naughty No No:

OMG !! The Brown Derby LA???
  3:46pm JBoogie:

indie 103 played terrible music actually
Avatar 3:46pm Naughty No No:

I played there with the Bay City Rollers once =)
  3:47pm JBoogie:

whoa Noah, that's pretty epic
Avatar 3:47pm Debbie Davenport:

Yeah LA
Avatar 3:48pm DJ Major Sally:

I think the last thing I did at The Derby was a Lords of Altamont gig.
Avatar 3:55pm Debbie Davenport:

I don't know LA too well, but there must be two Derby places. The one I'm thinking of was torn down around 84/85 when I lived there. It's the club that is depicted in the Ed Wood movie where Criswell is hanging out with Elvira and stuff. It looked like a big hat. I should of taken a brick!
Avatar 3:55pm DJ Major Sally:

I’ve rebooked myself onto The Grumbleweeds 45 again!
Avatar 3:56pm DJ Major Sally:

*rehooked
Avatar 3:56pm Debbie Davenport:

Yes and its round and shaped like a giant derby hat !!
Avatar 3:59pm DJ Major Sally:

My parents would drive me by the original Brown Derby when I was younger.
Avatar 4:00pm Debbie Davenport:

I wish I grew up around there. I love hollywood and Los Angeles in general.
Avatar 4:01pm Debbie Davenport:

Love this song
Avatar 4:02pm DJ Major Sally:

You think Brian Johnson was preparing to try out for AC/DC back then thinking the Youngs will be giving him a call several years later?

Avatar 4:40pm Mr Fab:

Hey kids! To answer some above questions, there were a few Derby’s around town. I remember ‘em in Echo Park, in Beverly Hills, I think one in mid-Wilshire..
And for a few years now Rodney has been on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage channel, Sunday’s 9EST. Totally different from his famous years, but good stuff, lots of contemporary bands I never heard of.
Avatar 4:41pm Naughty No No:

Thanks Fab !
Avatar 4:41pm Debbie Davenport:

Thanks Mr. Fab!
  4:41pm Cheree July:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Becky Ebenkamp:

I don’t know if it’s still there but there was a Derby in Koreatown on Wilshire in a strip mall. Obviously, it had been moved from the original location. It was a Thai restaurant and they painted it silver!
