Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Phillippe Bastille:

I have a hat emblazoned with "Whatever". It's my mother's answer to pretty much every question, so I bought one for each of us to wear at her postponed birthday party if she lives that long and we can finally have the party
Avatar 12:06pm βrian:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm David (in London):

Baseball cap? A fine silk-lined 100% Whatever tri-corn hat surely?
Avatar 12:13pm Sem:

Tennis-type day there, chresti?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm I^kºE:

I couldn’t fully follow the vax convo on Ken’s comments but I’ve tried looking at Turbovax and it linked to maps on other sites... as far as I can tell, nothing is ever clearly labeled as a cancellation appt. or surplus vax appt. — are y’all saying that if an appt. appears I should grab it as long as it doesn’t specify over-50/underlying conditions?
Avatar 12:13pm Mary Wing:

Well, if I had my druthers, yes, but you forget about the shipping constraints, David.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm chresti tennis booth:

Sem, very tennis-type day here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Handy Haversack:

Ike: Do you qualify under any of the NYS/NYC guidelines? If so, then yes: grab any appt. you can. Keep trying multiple sites. Even if you get an appt., keep trying for a sooner/closer one if you have to take one that's pushed far out.

If you don't qualify under any condition, then you could I guess try going by a local site -- pharmacy or whatever -- toward the end of the day and see if they have any left.
Avatar 12:18pm Hubig Pie:

Tri-cornered hats- very stylish but a pain to ship
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm David (in London):

Sigh, yes Mary, I see. Well, perhaps a single one available for the highest pledge over $1,000.

'Pidge Pledge Pin be damned, I'm sporting the 100% Tri-Corn!'
Avatar 12:20pm Sem:

As a confirmed beret wearer, I am genetically incapable of wearing a hat with sharp points, stylish though it may be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

Personally, I don't go to enough weddings and formal work events to get enough use out of the tri-corner hat
Avatar 12:20pm βrian:

Seems like a Whatever hat would have no visor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm I^kºE:

@Handy, I don’t believe I qualify (my relatively mild chronic condition is not listed) — that’s why I was asking. Just wanted to be sure — thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Phillippe Bastille:

I have a hard enough time finding places to wear a white FMU tee shirt. Italian restaurants are all out of consideration to begin with...
Avatar 12:21pm Sem:

No Revolution-era cosplay down where you are, Phillippe? Just spit-balling here.
Swag For Life Member 12:22pm zzz:

this is a cool martin gore song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Phillippe Bastille:

I live just outside of Annapolis, Sem. No cosplay required
Avatar 12:22pm Mary Wing:

Hi zzz! All it needs are Dave's vocals, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm ChukAmok:

Hey Phillippe! I grew up in Annapolis!
Avatar 12:23pm Sem:

!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Handy Haversack:

Sem, when we've all poked our eyes out, your wisdom will be made clear.

Ike, yeah, then your best bet for now is to hang around near vax sites and see if they have any left over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Handy Haversack:

Ike, there are also vax sites that need volunteers, which would get you qualification -- as would volunteering with any nonprofit that would put you in a role that interacts with the public.
Avatar 12:25pm βrian:

Was there a DJ criteria? Seems like a lot of FMU folks were vaxed. (Gotta keep those skeletons healthy, for sure.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Michael 98145:

robot waltz music, this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm ChukAmok:

@Ike one possible way to get vaccinated is to volunteer at a vax site. In my case they had extra doses at the end of the day and in order not to have them go to waste the hospital offered them to the volunteers. Not saying that could happen anywhere/anytime, or that you should volunteer with the expectation that you will get a dose, but it could be an avenue towards innoculation. Plus, volunteering is fun and feels good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Handy Haversack:

Phillippe, I thought I'd solved all my formal-wear needs when I bought a kilt -- until I had to go to a wedding *in Scotland*, and the kilt would have put me over my luggage allowance!

βrian, there was talk at some point that the staff are essential workers? Not sure if that's what done it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm ChukAmok:

Haha, what Handy said...
Avatar 12:26pm Mary Wing:

Not technically a DJ criteria, Brian, but we do qualify as "first responders" in the sense that we provide "information" to the public through the airwaves, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Handy Haversack:

It's like we're listening to the same Violent Crèmes song, ChukAmok!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Michael 98145:

freeform responders!
Avatar 12:27pm Hubig Pie:

Tri-corners for the coup-d'etat
Baseball caps for the day laboring
Avatar 12:27pm Mary Wing:

Hiya ChukAmok and Michael 98145!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm ChukAmok:

Ha! @Handy, don't even get me started...I couldn't stop making band puns for the rest of the day yesterday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm David (in London):

Hubig, that's a motto to live by for sure.
Avatar 12:29pm βrian:

That criteria must extend to playlist commenters, right? There you go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm ChukAmok:

Hey there Mary!
Avatar 12:30pm Mary Wing:

I get the majority of my information via the comments, it's true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm ChukAmok:

Great show so far. Really loved that opening track and Mulatu Astatke can do no wrong.
Avatar 12:35pm Mary Wing:

Honk if you love horns!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm spodiodi:

aloha, Mary Wing and The 100%!
*honk*
Avatar 12:35pm Hubig Pie:

A Klezmer dirge perhaps?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Handy I almost bought a kilt myself! I wanted a purple, black, and white one to wear to Ravens games, but some damn guy who comes to our tailgate party beat me to it! Two guys wearing the same kilt is just embarrassing, unless they're carrying bagpipes. er, wait, that's embarrassing too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm ChukAmok:

If there can be a show that features polka music on WFMU, then why not a show all about brass band/second line music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Handy Haversack:

Yo, spodi!

Hey there, adoptive parent doctorjazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm doctorjazz:

This is fun! Gimme tuba!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Michael 98145:

should we call doctorjazz Dad then, don't know if I'm ready for this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm doctorjazz:

Sylvia, as long as you don't move back home...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm David (in London):

Honk if you love geese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Handy Haversack:

Well, if you think of the Drummer Stream as a cousin, then he could be Uncle doctorjazz!

Or Mon oncle doctorjazz, to make a movie out of it.
Avatar 12:40pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

haha, no empty nest syndrome for you @doctorjazz
Avatar 12:41pm Mary Wing:

Hey there spodiodi and doctorjazz!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm doctorjazz:

Hey Spodi and the rest of you behind the purple curtain!
Avatar 12:44pm Mary Wing:

Is that a euphemism, spodi?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm David (in London):

Hey Spod.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm david w:

Hello, Mary and congrats! Hello to all!
Avatar 12:46pm Mary Wing:

Hi David W! Congrats to you, too!! DrummerLife4ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm spodiodi:

it's just riffing on Handy's referencing the "Gauntlet" video game ... "The ___ needs food... badly!" is one of it's phrases, and "The _____ is about to die!" is another (please insert another coin to continue ... 4p game ... Wizard, Warrior, Valkyrie and... and ..)

killer, Mary XD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm ChukAmok:

@Phillippe "just outside of Annapolis" do you mean Edgewater? Riva? Crownsville? Do you ever hit up Kerchunk downtown (aka 'Nap towns last record shop)?
Avatar 12:53pm Mary Wing:

I think I see spodi's new avatar coming... a blue haze appears in the electrons...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm David (in London):

And Phillippe, lounging about by his charcuterie board, claims that he has no suitable opportunities for wearing a tri-corn hat. Yeah, right...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm chresti tennis booth:

I am glad the marathon is over so that the merry elves can come out to play!
Hi spodi!
Avatar 12:54pm Hubig Pie:

Phillippe, no charcuterie board is complete without a whole tongue in aspic as the centerpiece
Avatar 12:55pm βrian:

Reminds me of that sandwich called The French Kiss.
Avatar 12:55pm Mary Wing:

Whose tongue, though, Hubig?
Avatar 12:57pm Hubig Pie:

That would unfortunately be Else's tongue, Mary
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Phillippe Bastille:

@ChukAmok Cape St. Claire, though we lived in Crownsville a couple decades ago. We have an Annapolis zip code for some reason, even though we are on the other side of the Severn. We are on the Little Magothy. I have not had the opportunity to take advantage of anything downtown since we moved here 2 yrs ago.

7YrOld is working on chewing technique. What with a changing toothscape, the chewing can miss its mark from time to time. That hurts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Michael 98145:

fine set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm chresti tennis booth:

Hello to all the merry elves that are still alive. Kinda busy here in tennis land.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Handy Haversack:

Twelve-year-old Handy called, spodi, and wants all his quarters back. He was supposed to use them in bill form to buy his sister a present ...
Avatar 1:02pm Mary Wing:

Nailed that name, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm ChukAmok:

@Phillippe That's cool. Downtown is of course choked with tourists, but I have some good memories of it from my younger times. Finally sold my parents' house up there a year ago so no longer have a reason to visit, but I still miss it sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Handy Haversack:

Back to prerecording, Mary? Any plans to head back to Studio MH?
Avatar 1:04pm Hubig Pie:

Phillippe, biting one's own tongue is proof that life is unfair
Avatar 1:06pm Mary Wing:

Time will tell, Handy. I probably need to be vaccinated before they will allow me upstairs at the station. And, while I liked being in Monty Hall, I had a lot of things to carry from home and that's a drag.
  1:06pm Listener Robert:

I get so swept up into both the sporting and the survival-of-our-entertainment aspects of the fundraisers, it takes me a few days to wind down from it...and I'm just a listener!

It reminds me of political campaigns I've been involved with. And really anything that can be called a campaign.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm spodiodi:

βrian, i can empathize (my teeth keep moving and i keep injuring myself... currenlty on about week3.5 since the last time i tried to bite cleanly through my lower lip)
aloha, chresti!
Handy, reminds me of when my aunt made my cousin return some of my arcade stash quarters to me (that he'd stolen, unbeknownst to me), during one of our annual family trips Down The Shore. (and sorry, i don't think we can get those back)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Andrew Waterloo:

Not very much. hunting for a new job, will have a bit more WFMU time for awhile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Handy Haversack:

Gotcha, Mary -- a treat to hear you no matter where from, of course!
Avatar 1:08pm Mary Wing:

Hi there Listener Robert! Yeah, this week is total decompression for everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm spodiodi:

Andrew, every time i see you, i think about nomeansno. and much of the time i listen to them now, i think of you. good luck with the job hunt, and the more wfmu time until then
Avatar 1:09pm Mary Wing:

Have you had any virtual interviews yet, Andrew? That would make me so nervous, and I'm already a nervous interviewee to begin with, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

@ChukAmok I love it here. We spent the years in between Crownsville and here living in western HoCo for the schools. I was absolutely miserable. Could not relate to the people, had a hard time making friends despite interacting with parents by coaching every youth sport known to man (even those I did not play :-)), house and land was too much to upkeep. Ugh. Now I have my happy place right outside the door.
Avatar 1:10pm βrian:

Not too rapidly, though, lest you get the Bends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Hubig Truer words were never spoken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Andrew Waterloo:

I was supposed to have one right now. But, they rescheduled, so I have two tomorrow. For some reason I am really comfortable in interviews. Being able to talk software as well I as write software is another story
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm David (in London):

Spod, 'Wrong' remains a classic for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm David (in London):

Rustin Man, nice one Mary. Anything Talk Talk related gets an instant clicky star from me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Handy Haversack:

Good luck, Andrew!

Kate just got a summer teaching gig that she's very excited about, but it's once again on Zoom, so it's a real large-print-giveth-and-the-small-print-taketh-away sort of dealy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm spodiodi:

word, David. i think that might be their best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Andrew Waterloo:

Yah.. I don't mind the remote work but I do like to be around people once in awhile.
Avatar 1:14pm Sem:

Good to see you, S'pod'i.

@Phillippe So glad to hear it. Also glad to hear that there's someone in the old town tuned into FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm spodiodi:

likewise, S'em ✌️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Spinning Giant:

greetings all, and good afternoon :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm doctorjazz:

Good luck Andrew!
(Glad I haven't had to interview in ages, we always too anxious at these to do well)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Andrew Waterloo:

I was on the social committee... we managed to do a Pi Day. People had to viit the office, but there were no problems social distancing.
Avatar 1:21pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Spinning Giant! Welcome to Wednesday whatever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm doctorjazz:

Soul Stirrers, great track (members included Sam Cooke, Johnny Tayler, Lou Rawls)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Spinning Giant:

Thanks Mary - i like that - feeling pretty G'all-danged whatever myself today! :D>---<
Avatar 1:22pm Hubig Pie:

Well, that certainly stirred my soul
Avatar 1:24pm Mary Wing:

And now we julienne your soul, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm spodiodi:

Aaron Spectre for head chef
Avatar 1:25pm Sem:

Phillippe, the ospreys who summer here arrive on or about the 15th of April. I see you live in likely osprey country. Anything to report?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Phillippe Bastille:

ooh! B&S!!
Avatar 1:28pm Hubig Pie:

Aaron Spectre sure sounding alot like Richard James
Avatar 1:28pm Bas NL:

Bye, last colleague! He, he.. 100% Whatever blasting at the workplace! Hi Mary and flowery bunch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Handy Haversack:

Nice, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Andrew Waterloo:

@doctorjazz.. I've been on both sides of the interview table. Doing well is a matter of interpretation. Then again... my last 3 jobs were basically handed to me over lunch.
  1:30pm KWilde:

Heh. Great tune!
Avatar 1:30pm Mary Wing:

Hi Bas! Pump up the voluuuuume!
Avatar 1:30pm Hubig Pie:

but not like Rick James
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm spodiodi:

rock it, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Handy Haversack:

Ahhhh, nice, Mary! Love hearing cuts off this album with the rerelease!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Sem they are here! First arrived two weeks ago or thereabouts. I was just gushing to Handy yesterday about a battle over a fish I watched between an osprey and a bald eagle. The osprey dropped the fish and before he could swing back and get it a huge-ass eagle swooped in and grabbed it right off the water. A chase ensued.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Spinning Giant:

Lilys is new to this hepcat - dig it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm David (in London):

It's the Lilys! Damn Mary, you're killing it today.
Avatar 1:34pm Mary Wing:

Hi KWilde!

I missed out on a lot of music in the 90s, Handy, so I'm glad so much is being re-issued.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Handy Haversack:

I see ospreys every once in a great while in our part of the estuary, but not very often. More common in other spots for sure.

I'm looking forward to some NJ exploration this summer with Doug in JC as a guide. I found a Meadowlands blog with a pic from last year with *eleven bald eagles* sitting in a tree! Er, R-O-O-S-T-I-N-G.
Avatar 1:35pm Sem:

Thanks, Phillippe! Have seen a version of that myself. But the jaw-dropping sight was a red-tailed hawk harassing a bald eagle too close to its nest at close quarters, with the eagle rolling over 180 degrees, talons up, in defense, repeatedly.
No blood spilled that I could witness.
Swag For Life Member 1:38pm zzz:

not familiar with this song (its fun!) and not following lyrics, but "pharoah's daughter" fits well with passover coming just a few days
Avatar 1:40pm Mary Wing:

Passover is here already? Where is this year going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Phillippe Bastille:

Eagles seem to get harassed a lot. The osprey generally run them off. I've seen a small convocation of them in a little cove not far from here, so maybe they go for a "safety in numbers" thing when the bullies come to town.
Swag For Life Member 1:42pm zzz:

this has simultaneously been the fastest and slowest year ever. its such a strange sensation i have reflecting back on the years passage of time and have heard the same feeling from lots of others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm David (in London):

zzz - I absolutely understand what you mean by that. I've had very much that same experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm I^kºE:

I’ve been known to harass the Eagles a lot... oh wait you meant actual eagles. NM!
Avatar 1:45pm Mary Wing:

It is weird, because I usually recall a year by what I did, or places I traveled, or who I was with, but 2020 was a great big zero of nothing except trying to avoid getting sick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Phillippe Bastille:

Damn, George Segal died.
Swag For Life Member 1:49pm zzz:

right @MW, didnt do a whole lot but somehow i have super vivid memories of much of the year, which i usually am a lot more fuzzy (maybe bc i didnt really do all that much so things stick out more)
Swag For Life Member 1:50pm zzz:

speaking of, this mosses album was an early pandemic listening highlight that sticks out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Handy Haversack:

For reals, Mary.

Eagles will steal other birds' catches, as Phillippe can attest and eat fledglings, so I think most birds try to drive them off. Also, they are *not* particularly maneuverable birds (I did a whole report in grade school, and we are grading on a curve here, but still: majesty does not translate into maneuverability). So it's relatively less dangerous for smaller birds to attack their heads -- and nobody wants to lose an eye!

Hawk vs. eagle, though: That's a whole new level, Sem! Are you sure it wasn't Marvel filming a movie somehow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Working and lurking, Mary, but listening since the outset - great show, as ever!
Avatar 1:53pm Mary Wing:

Hiya S&M&S!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm David (in London):

George Segal? Oh no. Damnation.

Hey S&M&S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm ChukAmok:

2020 was wall to wall BS, but I was able to paint the entire interior of my home and it probably would have been a real drag if it weren't for quality tunes coming from this very station while slathering layers of primer and top coat everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm ChukAmok:

Nowadays, when is it NOT Marvel filming something?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Handy Haversack:

I'm not letting 2021 off the hook yet either. There seems to be a lot of BS part deux still.
Avatar 1:56pm Mary Wing:

SIXTY MINUTES OF SIGN YOUR NAME, you're welcome, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm ChukAmok:

@Handy definitely holding my breath. I, and many others may be vaxed, but we aren't quite out of the woods yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm David (in London):

From Ministry to Terence Trent D'Arby, Mary, I never saw either of those coming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm chresti tennis booth:

There are peregrine falcons doing flyovers here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Handy Haversack:

I think when I was thirteen and hearing this song come out of my sister's room, I thought the lyric was "Saturday, you crossed my heart ..."
Avatar 1:59pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

shoo doo wap wap (not THAT wap)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Carmichael:

Yes, a sad RIP to George Segal. Fan of his for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Carmichael:

Wow, this is so Eurythmicey that it's uncanny.
  2:01pm rw:

Last week at a hotel pool I saw a woman with a signature tattooed on her butt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm David (in London):

Carmichael, it's a watch of The Quiller Memorandum now for sure.
Avatar 2:02pm Mary Wing:

Good morning, rw! Whose signature, could you see it clearly?
  2:02pm rw:

Hello! Just got to work. Brought the portable speaker. Hope everyone here likes this song…
Avatar 2:02pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

and a wardrobe malfunction
  2:02pm rw:

I think it said Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm David (in London):

Brian in the UK? He gives us all this smoke and mirrors about being out in the wilds of Shropshire decorated his house when really he's lounging about in swimming pools signing women's arses. Huh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Spinning Giant:

rw - Brian who, I wonder...? interesting... Maybe it said Brain LOL
Avatar 2:04pm Mary Wing:

Handy has reminded me that I want to start collecting mis-heard song lyrics for a future show (maybe for the October fundraiser), so start thinking of those gems for me, okay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Spinning Giant:

Great idea, Mary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Mary You're welcome or you're warned?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Spinning Giant:

LOL Mary - you really weren't kidding about a whole hour tribute to the TTD, huh...?
Avatar 2:06pm Mary Wing:

I mean, for example, the first few REM albums are prime candidates, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm David (in London):

Mary, I scarcely even need to think about that. In Eno's Third Uncle (and even more so in the Bauhaus cover), I always he was singing about 'Bugs Bunny shoes'. It actually turned out to be 'burn his books, burn his shoes'. I was gutted when I found out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Spinning Giant:

@Philippe Bastille - LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Carmichael:

"Scuse me while I kiss this guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

@chresti that's wild -- never seen one! WE have a marsh hawk and Cooper's hawk hanging around here and I may have seen a red-tailed here as well, never a falcon. Well, there was a 67 Ford Falcon in the Safeway parking lot but I'm not going to count that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Spinning Giant:

@David (in London) that's fantastic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Spinning Giant:

@Carmichael HaHAA :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

We not WE. No shouting here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Handy Haversack:

I know, for YEARS I refused to go back to Clock Hill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Carmichael:

HA! Jerry Douglas on dobro, knew it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm David (in London):

That Mollie O'Brien version was gear.
  2:11pm rw:

Mary, I think maybe we’ve talked about it here, but my favorite: “I Want a New Truck”

Also, “How’s About a Date” (Eyes Without a Face)

One more, too… a Lady Gaga… I’ll have to think. Memory has gone out the window
Avatar 2:12pm Mary Wing:

Polka Face, maybe? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Handy Haversack:

I tell you what, though, I am really starting to feel done with this day already. I think I might scale down to "monitor only" mode at work for a couple of hours and then start prep cooking for the weekend. The world is too much with us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Carmichael:

"gear" , he he .... The Irish equivalent would be "gas".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Handy Haversack:

Not sure if those of you who were not on the WAB board saw, but listener Deborah, who used to be a WFMU DJ in the 60s or 70s and was an Upsala graduate, died of COVID a couple of weeks back. There's a URL to her obit and memorial page at the top of the playlist now. Learning that was a really sad way to start the day.

So, yeah, 2021, you have a lot to make up for too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Carmichael:

Big ol' Jet Had a Light On.
Avatar 2:21pm Mary Wing:

Which song is that, Carm?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Carmichael:

The Steve Miller take on Paul Pena's Big 'ol Jet Airliner.

Today's pandemic lunch was mahi-mahi baked in a simple cannelini tomato casserole. Short-grain rice avec. Lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Handy Haversack:

This is not a long song! I'm putting the over/under at total version at 14!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm David (in London):

I'm holding out for the Ministry version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm spodiodi:

haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm spodiodi:

i hope followed by revco's do ya think i'm sexy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm ChukAmok:

"Deb strongly objected to Ground Hog day and the irreverent way the animals were treated on TV." Brilliant.
RIP Deborah. Thanks for sharing @Handy. I tuned in too late this morning and missed that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Phillippe Bastille:

@βrian did you serve it on fine china? Otherwise, you are taking a back seat to my charcuterie board...

Sylvia, I and a couple of others posted to her memorial so that her friends and family would know there's another whole community that she was part of and that mourns her.

Fucking COVID.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm David (in London):

I have a theory that any song is instantly 15% better if it is sung in Portuguese.
Avatar 2:41pm βrian:

And the fucking fuckers who downplayed covid.

I object to Ground Hog Day as well. I prefer my hogs whole.

Exactly, βrian. Goddamn it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Handy Haversack:

Sorry. Got a bit heavy.

In other news, Bagpipe now knows the words to "Sign Your Name"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Phillippe Bastille:
