Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Krys O.:

It's been a year since I set foot outside of NJ. Used to travel through Manhattan to visit my mother in Westchester County, NJ on a weekly basis. I can see the skyline of lower Manhattan from my bedroom window. Enjoying the aural excursions provided by Sheena's Jungle Room and WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm joe:

Oh man the concept of you presenting mix tapes to your cats just makes me giddy
  12:24pm Martinibomb:

@Krys hah! I've only set foot outside of Portland twice since the pandemic. Once to adopt a dog and the other to pick up pinball machines in Seattle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm joe:

I sent you some of that ye old cash
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm joe:

@Martinibomb might I ask what the pinball machine was?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

At this point in my life, I MUCH prefer Beatles covers to the originals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm joe:

Well then I'm leaving :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm joe:

I'll go with Mort Garson. Yes I do have ISM already so I'll leave that for someone else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm joe:

THANK YOU!!!!!
  12:30pm Martinibomb:

@Joe I picked up an Atari Wide Body "MIddle Earth" with nothing to do with the hobbit it's a Dinosaur theme. The other was a Bally Tri Zone from 1979. They are both projects. A friend took the Tri Zone and I'm fixing the Middle Earth up... still going thru it with a multimeter looking for issues before I power up
  12:31pm chresti in tennis booth:

Yay Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm joe:

  12:32pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm joe:

One of the main reasons that the wife and I looking to finally purchase a house in the next few years is so we can get ourselves a pinball machine.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Rich in Washington:

RESearch was my internet before the internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm joe:

@Martinibomb well the ultimate goal would be Hercules, but I don't ever see that happening. I think it would be Cyclone(one of my favs as a kid and I'm a big Mr Bungle fan) Spider Man (as it was the first I remember playing) any of the Elvira's, Pinbot, there are a few others I know for sure

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm joe:

@Martinibomb NOOOOOO I am not aware of VPX. I will have to look into this. XBOX has a Midway package with table recreations. But very very costly.
  1:27pm Martinibomb:

@Joe I LOVE VPX and you will too. It's free and has an awesome community that constantly updates tables it's super rad! And getting better every day

Thanks Fab. Yes, I didn't draw that picture as some sort of demented occupational therapy, you know. It's for the cause.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Webhamster Henry:

Hey Fab, You're not that far off the mark with that comment about date-bait. Wearing my artwork is a sure-fire way to get you laid. How do I know? Well, I don't want to brag, but I made the goddamned thing, I should know. So listen folks, if you're alone and want some company, wear this fucking shirt, and then check back with me and I'll tell you some stories.

Ok Otis, I dropped another 20.00 for ya’s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Webhamster Henry:

@Otis: Are you ordering the LPs by color again?
  2:14pm Martinibomb:

I need to sell/trade some records sooon -- haven't gotten rid of anything in like 20 years
  2:14pm Martinibomb:

I've been curious about selling on discogs.. I've never bought anything there yet tho heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Franco Twinkie:

I realize that CD's are treated like the soccer mom of music formats, but you can't play vinyl when you're driving around. I live in L.A. so I drive around a lot listening to CD's. I put a new sound system in my truck and I'm good to go.
Avatar 2:15pm TDK60:

Why, I just listened to a CD just last night. Then, an LP.
  2:15pm Martinibomb:

@franco my car stereo plays mp3s I just plug a usb thumb drive in with 120gigs of music.. it's way too much heheh
  2:16pm Martinibomb:

I always fuck up my cds in the car - I used to just burn tons of them for car stereo trips
  2:18pm Martinibomb:

I need a new CD player for my DJ studio tho! Just tape, vinyl and digital right now my CD player blew up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh yeah, I do too Martini, but I'm to lazy to reformat. I keep a cardboard box full of CD's on the passenger seat.
  2:20pm Martinibomb:

@franco I make origami cd sleeves and they fit perfectly into converse shoe boxes - i have several boxes of burned cds in these sleeves
Avatar 2:22pm TDK60:

I have 3 different CD players. If a CD-R doesn't work in one it will work in the others most likely. (A lot my friends gave me CD-Rs of their bands, between 1997 and 2006.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm WR:

origami cd sleeves? i like the sound of that. looking for it now.
Avatar 2:24pm TDK60:

I also used to make mix-CDRs, like mix tapes. Still make the occasional tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm joe:

Most of my cd players now are really good DVD players that I picked up at Goodwill super cheap. I just try and make sure they have a FWD/REV on them so I don't always have to have a remote handy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Franco Twinkie:

Unlike vinyl, I've never gotten rid of any CD's. I'm just to lazy. So as a result I have tons. Especially now, what am I going to get for them? Nothing, so I play them while I'm driving.
Avatar 2:25pm TDK60:

Franco, hold on to them while you drive around, waiting for the CD revival..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm joe:

@Franco Twinkie If the math is right there should be a resurgence in CDs in the next two yeras
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm joe:

One of my local record store guys does sell a lot of cds to teens who have purchased older cars with cd players. Every Saturday afternoon he would get 2 or 3 come in and hit his dollar bin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Franco Twinkie:

.....and I love CD booklets filled with music writing and rare photos!
  2:29pm sonderangebot:

I started to buy cds again because I don’t like to flip my record when I’m in my creative zone! I can’t believe I missed your show because of an Internet provider misunderstanding
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Franco Twinkie:

This is a great conversation - how we interface with our music. The logistical aspects of listening, thinking about, looking at and touching music.
Avatar 2:34pm TDK60:

Last night I listened to an old classical LP of my parents' from probably 1960. It wasn't dirty nor scratched, so possibly they didn't like that symphony.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Franco Twinkie:

TDK, there you go! I have all my dad's records, that for me are a portal to my past.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Rich in Washington:

hello neighboring DJ!
Avatar 2:40pm TDK60:

Franco, Still have some groovy jazz LPs of my dad's. Still have some of my own teen 45s. Love how 45s are often loud.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes, the mastering on lots of 45's from the 60's was very LOUD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Franco Twinkie:

TDK, I often think about the disparity in the listening experience. The psychic space records played at home occupy, versus live music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Rich in Washington:

this is a glorious cacophony.
  2:48pm chresti in tennis booth:

Thank you Otis/Tony/Michele/rock 'n soul radio!
  2:50pm Martinibomb:

Thanks for the music, Mr. Friendly Persuader!
Avatar 2:51pm TDK60:

Franco, funny how we, or I, get fixated on a recording, which is just one frozen performance. Whatevah! I love rekkids.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Rich in Washington:
