With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Irene Trudel:

Yes Dan! Pitch lots and often!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm doctorjazz:

Hey, Stork, nice set of premiums up there, going to be hard to decide when to jump in.
It's like a good table, start out with some scotch (none of the watered Down stuff)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm WR:

if you have to mention the money the obviously you don't have enough.
Avatar 12:03pm TDK60:

Wie gehts, Stork, Dan, decaying club members!
Avatar 12:03pm Sem:

Take a jazz message, Maria.
Send it to my wife.

Greetings, Your Storkness, and *friendly wave* to Club denizens and citizens, and those of any zen persuasion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm chresti:

Hi ParUbi!
  12:32pm Listener Robert:

I got my hopes up for a Steven WRIGHT recording when I misheard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm ParUbi:

Hi chresti! Loving the Steve Reich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Spinning Giant:

Greetings one and all - happy Sunday - it's literally so beautiful and sunny here in southern Ontariario - just back from a lovely hike along the river :D ...perfect beats to settle in for the afternoon...
  12:36pm Listener Robert:

Fleuve St. Laurent? Or some other river?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm doctorjazz:

Thus Giuffre is lovely!
Avatar 12:37pm Dan Bodah:

I Believe Stork is Real
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Correct me if I'm wrong, Stork, but I think this is only your second time back on the air for the WFMU marathon in TWENTY YEARS. Surely you hold the land-speed record for time off between marathon shows.

That is, folks, what they call in the business ANOTHER REASON TO PLEDGE!!!

Use the pledge box atop this page, or just go to wfmu.org...

Show some love and support for the man who returned!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Spinning Giant:

Hey Robert - no, the Speed/Eramosa/Grand in the Guelph area - Southwestern ONT - Fleuve St Laurent only reaches into the Eastern part of ht eprovince - beautiful there, too - know it well - I went to school in Ottawa, and travelled the riverside byways and highways many many times...
  12:42pm Listener Robert:

Oh, you're in really REALLY southern Ontario. Like where it gets south of Michigan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Spinning Giant:

agreed, illustirous hosts/DJs - I often wish I could clone myself so I could experience the joy of listening to, and interacting with, every show on the Woof-Moo airwaves/streams...

and, ooooh, exciting, ... a new show! Do tell! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Spinning Giant:

Robert - haha! Yes, indeedy...

Yay 4 hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm adamdoesit:

Avatar 12:48pm Sem:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm chresti:

Little Danny's in W Texas, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm chresti:

That'll make it 3 drummer DJs in TEX.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm doctorjazz:

It was almost never a 3 hour show, now it's official! Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Doug Schulkind:

@chresti
Yes indeed. In fact, the new addition to the Drummer Stream is someone recommended by Little Danny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm doctorjazz:

There goes Sunday...
  12:52pm rw:

When I heard there was a new show on Sundays I got scared! Glad to hear The Stork Club will get an official extension.

Avatar 2:05pm Sem:

Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Michael 98145:

yay @Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm doctorjazz:

Thanks so much!
  2:11pm rw:

Haha! I'm wondering if I can pull off that unicorn shirt or if it should go to one of my kids. It's pretty great either way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Ike:

IIRC, originally it was the House of Tomorrow pledge level, from the days when FMU needed to leave the desolate and abandoned campus of Upsala College and get a new house elsewhere. Then after arriving in JC it naturally became House of Today, which evolved to Mouse of Today as the move receded into the past and more ppl started listening online. Do I have that right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Doug Schulkind:

I have two more new shows "bubbling under" as Bunny Wailer might have said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm doctorjazz:

I'm past pulling that stuff off, rw. My younger daughter has already claimed an FMU fleece.
Avatar 2:17pm Dan Bodah:

@Ike, you got it -- the long and twisting odyssey of the Mouse of Today pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm doctorjazz:

Did the Mouse of Today originally only go to Web business?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm doctorjazz:

Love having all the performer credited posted on the playlist, must be a lot of work, but great for us OCD folks!
Avatar 2:22pm Stork:

Tantalize us, Dougie!
  2:23pm rw:

doc, Though I still love it I'm afraid I'm past most of it too. But WFMU T-Shirts HAVE become my biking uniform. And I'm glad (and proud that!) my kids are willing to represent. Spread it around.
Avatar 2:23pm Stork:

This Olu Dara track is on the Stork Club Premium - it's Joo-say!!
Avatar 2:24pm Dan Bodah:

Yeah, when first introduced the Mouse of Today went to solely to support streaming service. Now the "Mouse Pledge" remains as a holdover name for any Dollar a Day pledge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Michael 98145:

Louisiana plum
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm doctorjazz:

When Olu Dara went from an avant-garde cornet player into to rock/pop/R n B world (not a bad thing)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm chresti:

mmmmm... glowing juice-say lips!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Doug Schulkind:

If Leon Thomas doesn't make you smile, you need lip-o-suction.
Avatar 2:28pm Dan Bodah:

This set is pure good feels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm doctorjazz:

'rw, same, I'll use many of them to bike (outside or stationary). My younger daughter tells me she gets many thumbs up comments when they see her in the FMU fleece (she actually doesn't listen, Spotify almost exclusively, except when she's visiting us, then she listens to a lot of FMU, voluntarily or not).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm WR:

ya gotta be in it to win it.
  2:33pm Little Danny:

Go Stork go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm WR:

chresti, what you said about multi streaming, I've started doing that some, i have work and personal phone both streaming at once.
  2:36pm rw:

Ha! My kids are out of the house now but when they were younger they and all their friends had a good amount of exposure to some pretty weird music. I felt like I was doing a public service for the neighborhood. Weirdly, I feel like it actually paid off in a lot of ways.
Avatar 2:37pm TDK60:

I was looking at the Debussy photograph above. He appears to be holding what might be a camera. He died in 1918. I didn't know personal cameras were
already available in those years. Maybe it's something else, binoculars?
  2:42pm rw:

Huh. Don't know whether that object is a camera or not, but according to Wikipedia, George Eastman created an inexpensive consumer camera in 1888. Which reminds me that the name Kodak came from the sound the shutter made when you took a photo. Ko-dak!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Doug Schulkind:

Jamie Farr? From M*A*S*H?!
Avatar 2:45pm TDK60:

Thanks, rw. I didn't know. Photography always surprises me how far back it made an impact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm chresti:

TDK60 maybe binoculars?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm chresti:

Glad you got my bag of pennies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chresti:

That guy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Little Danny:

Yeah, Chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm WR:

nicely written sentiment adamdoesit expressing support for WFMU.
  2:51pm rw:

TDK, Now that I think of it, I guess there's also the clue that the photo of Debussy IS a photo!! And it looks fairly casual, like it was taken without a tripod which means handheld cameras were likely available at that time.
  2:53pm rw:

Okay, I need to get outside. Thank you Stork and Dan! Take care everyone and happy Sunday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm chresti:

Bye rw, enjoy the outside!
  2:54pm rw:

Oh, and one more thing, I'm going to be hearing Jamie Farr yodeling in my head all day!
  2:55pm ?:

rw: Per this book, the photograph of Claude was taken by his newlywed, Emma.

And this show. See you next time, Wolfgang. Good hearing you today, Dan. Bye, all.

Avatar 2:58pm TDK60:

Whoa, time to go. Thanks Stork, Dan!
  2:58pm Listening Out There:

Another great program today.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Dan and Stork, enjoyed the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm chresti:

Thanks Stork and Dan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm WR:

TDK60, are you Tim?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Michael 98145:

Debussy - www.parisupdate.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm chresti:

Haha, Debussy hated the beach! Bad music was playing.
