@Tank Top - Not a bad hypothesis, For my money 2020 was the 1980s to me. I hadn't felt that much general dread and loathing in the 80s.

Avatar 👻 3:51pm Bas NL:

Well... 1984.. Coil's Scatology album was released. Love that record.
  3:51pm andy the painter:

hey scott! 1985 was my “annus horribilis”...late adolescent depression onset for sure. have not undertaken a musical catharsis, tho. good on you!
Avatar 3:52pm Andrew Hollywood:

The recent Nick Lowe memoir, "Cruel To Be Kind", is full of Dave Edmunds stories of course, including a few images of Swan Song era Dave, complete with Ferrari, white scarf, and leather gloves for even faster driving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm tim from champaign (now washington):

This almost has a Nugent vibe. Pretty rad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Jim the Poet:

  3:54pm The Butterman:

Jeezes, what the hell is wrong with his voice. Sounding like Robert Plant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Scott Williams:

@Carm, I'm upstairs.
@Bas, I've given Scatology soooooo many chances (still haven't gotten rid of it), but I've never been able to connect with it
@chresti, this McCartney is driving in the rain with no wipers music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm chresti:

I listened to mostly Jamaican music in 1984.
  3:55pm one good tooth:

@Tim it does sound like McCartney is channeling 'heroin blues rock' a little bit there...defiantly could use a dose of John Lennon's inspiration just for good measure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm chresti:

Hi TDK60!
Avatar 3:56pm TDK60:

Chresti, Bunny Wailer passed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm McGroovey:

RIP Bunny Wailer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Carmichael:

BTW, nice backup yesterday for Micah. You were cool as a cucumber.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm McGroovey:

The Pretty Things were also on Swan Song in the seventies. I have one of the records. It's good. I think Swan Song just signed whoever they liked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm chresti:

@Scott, you are right, it is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Little Danny:

@McGroovey: Denny Seiwell on drums, according to www.the-paulmccartney-project.com...

  4:11pm Jeremy:

Avatar 4:11pm TDK60:

Jeremy, it does remind me of Broadcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Scott Williams:

@Jeremy, agreed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Jeremy - I can see that. I was thinking t hat there was a very similar drum sound to Broadcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Little Danny:

"Let In In" is definitely one of the more Broadcast-ian tracks from that album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Little Danny:

Others have a bit more of a southwestern troubadour/Lee Hazlewood vibe. All good things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm McGroovey:

Yeah, I guess most of Bad Company's records were on Swan Song.

The Pretty Things Swan Song record I have is Savage Eye. I should play it during Ken & Andy's show tonight [joke].

Wikipedia says they broke up after Savage Eye, but I have another album by them, Cross Talk, from 1980 (also good: kinda power-pop, almost). So news of their death was exaggerated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Little Danny:

Beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm McGroovey:

Cross Talk was produced by John Ashley, who is not related to Rick Ashley, so there's no connection to Never Gonna Give You Up.

Haha. Now you're thinking of that song.

I had a girlfriend whose family was close friends with the Ankas (Paul, wife, and children). Never met them myself, but by all accounts they were nice people.

my favorite recurring quote from Uncle Meat was "I'm using the chicken to measure it"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Handy Haversack:

@steveo: I just tried buying four ferry tix from Wall St. to JC and have them mailed to me, and the "requested product cannot be found." This is the worst company in America.

Lil’ Lazy Rider just turned 7. He wants the job! How do he apply?!?
  6:10pm SlimWhitman:

Nadia needs to be a regular.
  6:10pm Listener Robert:

Looks like we have a choice: Treat this as Ken & Andy's playlist comments page, or treat Terre T.'s thusly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm herb.nyc:

Andy is 66. Gulp. I’m not looking forward to 66. But happy birthday, Andy. And to anyone that looks like Andy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Baja Joe:

Damn, I wanted to say Happy birthday Slurpy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Asheville Jon:

stupid listeners? my soaking pledge just went up by $20
  6:14pm Listener Robert:

Ms. T. won't mind using her playlist comments for 7SD, because she's got a rerun on due to technical difficulties.
  6:14pm Glistener MW:

It’s ok; I’m definitely a so-called “stupid listener”. ^_^
  6:15pm RustyTiki:

Does Andy have to match swag for life pledges during the soaking?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Jim the Poet:

My father always used to tell me that I gave stupid new meaning. I was always like, what does it mean now?
  6:15pm Annie in Indiana:

Why is the soaking only four minutes long?!
  6:16pm The noggin:

oh Andy that one hurt I think I'm getting ready to sob talk
