Quarantine week 50, any baked beans left in the shelter?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm listener james from westwood:

Yay for the second shot!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm KimSorise:

Hey Hey!
Welcome Hypderdose and James. No baked beans but i did just get a shipment of some good bruschetta and tapenades.
Enjoy the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm listener james from westwood:

Now that's good eatin'!
Avatar 7:08pm chresti:

Hi Kim and Greasers! Other than allergies, I haven't gotten sick either, Kim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm KimSorise:

We eat very well in this house. Lots of southern Italian, latin, middle eastern and curries. I am a cooker and eater of tiny plates - I was raised this way and I grow and can most of our produce.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm KimSorise:

Hey Chresti! Welcome.

Man - that vaccine clicked in like a fucking switch - on time. 22 hours... bam - warmed over dog shit; 36 hours bam - feel just fine.
Avatar 7:13pm chresti:

No vaccine for me yet, my partner got his first shot last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm KimSorise:

I hope he was feeling okay.
Avatar 7:17pm chresti:

Yeah, he's fine, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm doctorjazz:

Hey, Kim, great Hino!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm KimSorise:

Hey DocJazz! Enjoy.
Avatar 7:33pm Scott67:

G'day Kim & Greasers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm KimSorise:

Hey Scott67! Sunny day today?
Avatar 7:36pm Scott67:

Sunny, but a cool & windy 21c.
But can't complain to my Northern friends. 😎🌞
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm KimSorise:

Sounds delightful!
Avatar 7:38pm StringOFperils:

Good evening, Kim. Hi chresti, dr.jazz, scott67 and any other usual suspects floating around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm KimSorise:

Good evening, SOFP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm doctorjazz:

(I keep posting that Henry Threadgill had a birthday last week, haven't heard a tribute (he turned 77 on 2/15).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm doctorjazz:

(Hint Hint hint)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm KimSorise:

huh didn't know that - I will see what I can find
Avatar 7:56pm Scott67:

G'day SOp! ✌😎
Avatar 7:58pm chresti:

Hi StringO!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm doctorjazz:

It's late for that sort of thing, didn't mean now. Probably stressful, and I'm sure the show is planned (but maybe a belated next week...)
Avatar 8:02pm StringOFperils:

Somebody at WFMU must be assembling a show devoted to Henry Threadgill....I think I was only half aware of his passing. AIR, alone, would have been worth a memorial, let alone all of the other things Threadgill created.
Avatar 8:04pm StringOFperils:

His birthday, ....jeez
Avatar 8:04pm chresti:

Ridgewood Radio, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm doctorjazz:

I don't believe he passed (thank goodness), only that he had a birthday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm KimSorise:

with in the next couple weeks for sure.
Avatar 8:05pm StringOFperils:

@doctorjazz.... a piece of automatic writing. O_O
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm doctorjazz:

I heard the Ridgewood Radio show, but that was quite a bit before the birthday, pretty sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm doctorjazz:

Sop, that's my job! (Terrible auto correct correct).
  8:17pm CC:

Hi y'all...wow Kim... I didn't realize you were so adept at cooking growing, eating and canning all your own food... that's really something to be proud of!!!...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Gina Bacon:

Hey Kim and Mondaystreamers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm KimSorise:

Hey CC and Gina! Welcome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm doctorjazz:

Gina, Hi!
Avatar 8:24pm northguineahills:

I have to admit I don't have any Ethiopian music that's not on the Ethiopiques series (or collabs w/ the Ex).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, doctorjazz!
  8:26pm CC:

Hi Gina and all you other peeps I can see here!!!...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm KimSorise:

I bought quite a bit NGH - as. a trumpet player it was awesome!

hey Hey BPN

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Gina Bacon:

Avatar 8:34pm northguineahills:

@Kim; I'm a trained French Horn/coronet/trumpet player. For my ambient/jazz performances, I used to play the instrument in a bin of water, and have a pick-up mic run through an echoplex, where one of my band partners would run it through his laptop live.
Avatar 8:35pm northguineahills:

Unfortunately, no brass instruments w/ me these days, my coronet lost it's spit valve, and I can't afford to fix it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm KimSorise:

Oh wow! I was just a marching, symphony and jazz band kid that quit because I didn't want to play in ska bands in the late 80s -early 90s.
  8:40pm CC:

That must have made some kind of unusual bubbling type of noise...eh NGH???...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm KimSorise:

I bet it would be for sure @CC
Avatar 8:42pm northguineahills:

Funny, I didn't get ska, until I found dub reggae, which led to rocksteady, reggae, and Jamaican and British ska. Then, I found some American ska bands weren't so bad (I was friends w/ someone in a 'welll known' American band. But I didn't appreciate them at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm WR:

hi Kim and Global Greasers. have been listening and enjoying. thanks for a great program.
Avatar 8:44pm northguineahills:

@CC: Before the fx, definitely. I got the idea while practicing while cooking. One idea led to another. (I was inspired by Ben Neil's snd, which was done completely by computer fx).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm KimSorise:

Right - I did not get it and was terrified of being on stage improvising. I was too "trained" - It broke my heart, but I found radio not too long after. I play a bit now - but it's awful.
Avatar 8:48pm northguineahills:

I'm so out of practice now, I have no embouchure. The last decade I most did what I described as post-fluxus sounds w/ my band and friends...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm KimSorise:

haha - I can appreciate that.
I am shocked I can still get consistent tone at all. I was good but better behind the scenes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm KimSorise:

Welcome WR!
  8:51pm CC:

Feeling light as a feather now!!!...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm doctorjazz:

Didn't really know Ska much (aside from the occasional tune that made it here, like My Boy Lollipop) until the Brits went in big time for it in the 80s (The Special, etc), which I really got into.
(Would have loved to play in any decent band, frustrated former campfire guitar player)
Avatar 8:54pm northguineahills:

I didn't get into ska until the late 2000s, it was a long journey....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm doctorjazz:

Almost over, went fast, great show, thanks, Kim!
Avatar 8:55pm HyperDose:

I started listening to 3rd wave ska in the mid 90's after discovering the Punk-O-Rama compilations at my local library. Then my dad informed me that ska predated reggae, and showed me a bunch of records. Blew my mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm doctorjazz:

The Specials, English Beat, Madness, really got into that genre.
Avatar 8:57pm northguineahills:

Happy thanks, Kim!
Avatar 8:57pm Scott67:

Thanks Kim! Great journey! 🌏
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks for a great show, Kim!!
Avatar 8:58pm StringOFperils:

Thanks, Kim!
Avatar 8:58pm HyperDose:

Thanks Kim!
  8:58pm CC:
