Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning! My VLC player on the laptop is going choco-wacky. Trying to reach the AAC stream, but it's jumping me to the Drummer stream.
Avatar 12:08am HyperDose:

Same here. Think the Russians finally got us?
Avatar 12:08am Scott67:

G'day Rich & Carcasses!

That's good to hear, headcleaner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am Ken From Hyde Park:

The radio gods must be demanding a pizza offering. What can we do? I'm fresh out of pizza over here! 🍕
  12:14am phat:

omg I want pizza right now. maybe I'll order some
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am Jason from Houston:

Oh nooooooo... I want to hear these songs so bad.
  12:14am Tamar:

At the squirrel carcasa, we can only hear the stream, so it's a bit confounding keeping the playlist accu.
Avatar 12:15am chresti:

Ah well, I guess I'll turn in, goodnight!
  12:16am rich:

sorry folks having a problem with the streams this evening. cannot hear anything at the moment so the playlist is suffering but will be fixed tomorrow. good thing we are pre-recorded this evening. thank you skeleton crew
Avatar 12:16am Bri:

Praying for Texas 💗
  12:16am Tamar:

Hi Jason from Houston, in the future you will be able to hear them. Hi chresti, sorry to lose you, but g'night!
  12:17am headcleaner:

about 2 min into Lil Green
  12:18am rich:

thanks headcleaner i can closely approximate until i can hear the show again
  12:18am headcleaner:

Jason - I bet you do, given what we understand of the situation out there - how is it in your parts?
  12:22am rich:

at the moment our radio is picking up the station (with plenty of static) so hopefully that will continue until the stream is straightened out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am Chop Scott:

Cheers Rich & Tamar! The air signal is fine. I thank you!
  12:24am rich:

good night chresti

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am Ike:

Hi! 91.1 FM sounds good here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Ike:

As does 91.9.
  12:27am Tamar:

Good ol' air waves! This does seem to call for pizza.
  12:28am devlawn:

sorry about the tech issues. I listen online so I'll check out WWOZ for a bit.
  12:30am rich:

jason same message i receive
hi ike where are you where it’s coming in fine? earlier this evening we were picking up a pirate on 91.9
Avatar 12:31am Scott67:

The othe 3 streams are playing fine online. It's only this one that's down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am Jason from Houston:

My neighbor's internet seems to be okay because I can stream the Return to Forever record I didn't buy today. :(
  12:31am rich:

hello devlawn enjoy WWOZ, try again later
  12:34am headcleaner:

side x side came in about 10 sec before the accu so it looks like you're doing pretty good on that front, rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Ike:

Do you get a Spanish-language pirate or a reggae pirate at 91.9? I'm in Sunset Park, Bklyn. Sometimes I get that reggae pirate at 91.9 but fortunately I'm on the west side of the hill w/a view of Manhattan & Jersey City. The pirates are much worse on the east side of the hill (facing Flatbush where most of the Bklyn pirates are).
  12:35am rich:

reggae pirate
  12:36am rich:

i do like the concept of pirate reggae
  12:37am headcleaner:

any good programs on those pirate stations, Ike? I'm kind of happy when folks attempt to do DIY radio of any kind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Ike:

@rich, oh that's surprising. That one must be strong. Are you still in Queens? Most of the Queens pirates are Spanish-language and based in Corona or East Jackson Hts., I think.
  12:39am headcleaner:

(tuning my radio above 91.5 for probably the first time since bought it... oh, so the 91.9 signal is actually for real...)
  12:40am rich:

yes we are. usually we don’t get pirates just a lot of static but they were coming in pretty clearly from about 10pm to 12am
Avatar 12:40am northguineahills:

It's been a while since I tried terrestrial WFMU, outside of a car, but in Williamsburg, 91.9 got me Haitian pirate radio, but that was 10 years ago....
Avatar 12:42am northguineahills:

I can get the Rock 'N Soul Radio and GTDS streams, but not the mothership....
Avatar 12:43am northguineahills:

wi-fi working fine, as is my phone (tried both).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Ike:

@headcleaner, well, if you like people shouting about conspiracy theories over Skype in Haitian Creole they're fine! ;) Otherwise... eh. There used to be an entertaining Jewish Orthodox pirate called "J-Root" but it seems to be gone. It had some funny radio plays and lectures in English with Yiddish or Hebrew lingo sprinkled in.

You can listen to some samples of some of the pirates here:
(Some of the ones listed aren't around anymore.) Hopefully someday the map will expand to Queens.
  12:44am rich:

good morning ngh
Avatar 12:49am coelacanth∅:

hi rich and squirrelyfolk

...something wrong with the fmu signal. vlc wont work but i'm online with no other issues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am Jason from Houston:

Gah! Playlist is sick but I can't connect. Going to tuck in for the night. Love y'all.
Avatar 12:49am coelacanth∅:

... robot owl stream works fine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Jason from Houston:

  12:50am rich:

goodnight jason
hello coel the main stream is down at the moment
Avatar 12:52am coelacanth∅:

i figured as much scrolling up the comments
...which i'd done that before beating up my computer
  12:53am headcleaner:

@Ike - OK I guess I was romanticizing a bit - the sad fact is, most non-FMU radio is at best a mixed bag, quality wise... as we are reminded every time we "stray"
Avatar 12:53am northguineahills:

weird, even the mono stream won't work on the laptop or phone, rock 'n soul stream works....
  12:54am headcleaner:

stay warm, jason
  12:54am rich:

this is from the soundtrack to robert altman’s film kansas city which has great music throughout, film is also good (just not as good as the music imho). i've seen reviewers compare it to nashville and that doesn’t hold up it’s more like a much better cotton club
Avatar 1:02am coelacanth∅:

i disconnected my fm antenna to move my receiver and ...i know it's here somewhere...
Avatar 1:06am northguineahills:

Anyone else w/ the problem? It's weird w/ or w/o wifi I can't connect, but I can w/ the other streams....
  1:07am rich:

yes i am an idiot the green capybaras were covered in algae and moss. i was so hopeful after the yellow penguin, yellow lobster, cloned black foot ferret, why can’t there be green capybaras hell science grew an ear on the back of a mouse i can rant and rave for several more sentences but why deny that i didn’t bother to fact check before pre-recording this last night. once a fool always a fool.

I definitely thought somebody would've engineered some green or sky-blue or bright red cats by now (not "cat fancier" red, meaning orange, but REAL red), but nope, doesn't seem that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Bobby K:

Ok rich thanks, I hope I can catch some later

ixe it’s only a matter of time and money then you’ll hear the shouts of “stop playing god” (though why wouldn’t you want a playful god?) but the money will win out in the end and then it will get cheaper and red cats, green cats, plaid beagles, rorschach-patterned holsteins will be available

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am Iºk^e:

@coel, various types of wire might also work in a pinch. Or a bit of coaxial cable perhaps w/a smidge of the insulation stripped off at the far end. Maybe even an unwound wire hanger?
